Under wired bikini or not ?

Sammoid555 · 14/06/2020 19:00

Hi ladies just wondering what the over all opinion and preference is as I am thinking of making my own bikini line :) but do I design an underwired one or none underwired. Appreciate any feedback as I really feel like personally anyway that bikini tops just never seem to fit right they always seem to be too short on material and I'm by no means a big busted lady either ! But I still feel when bending down to pick my youngster up or retrieving things from his changing bag that my boobs will embarrassingly have nipple slip ! Or worse.
So I've been sat contemplating designing a better fitting bikini for mum's like me .
Any suggestions ladies ? X

I wear an underwired bikini top in my bra size

newphoneswhodis · 14/06/2020 19:13

I wear underwired tops in my bra size. Separate tops and bottoms is a must as I am much bigger on top than bottom.

JollyGiraffe12 · 14/06/2020 19:17

I prefer bandeau style bikini tops but if it was a typical bra style I would choose underwired

FortyFacedFuckers · 14/06/2020 19:20

As someone that is a 34GG underwired is a must! I would guess it depends on who your demographic is.

Sammoid555 · 14/06/2020 20:22

Thank you for your reply :) so for example like new look they tend to sell their bikinis as either size 12,14 16 etc how would you go about that ? X

I buy them bra sized and buy separates e.g. 36GG top and 20 bottoms.

newphoneswhodis · 14/06/2020 20:34

I would never by a bikini top that was sized 12, 14 etc. I'd buy a bra sized top and a size 12 bottom separately. If they didn't size that way i wouldn't buy.

Redcrayons · 14/06/2020 20:38

I’m a FF so buy bra sizes ones with underwire.

The dress size ones from New Look etc are always too small in the cup so I wouldn’t bother with them.

Sammoid555 · 14/06/2020 20:38

Thank you forty faced :) My demographic is ideally I'd like to design a bikini for all shapes and sizes to make us ladies feel confident wearing our bikinis . I have found personally and by asking friends and family that there always seems to be a common problem of boob spillage. So if like to be able to design a decent well fitting plenty of fabric that goes high enough under armpits and also at the front :) x

Similarly I would never buy a bikini top from a high street chain that come in dress sizes. I need support and separation so I buy from Bravissimo and go for reputable lingerie brands like Freya and Fantasie that make bikini tops and bottoms in a range of shapes and coverages.

lancaster · 14/06/2020 20:40

Always underwired and in bra size from bravissimo or fig leaves.

Poshjock · 14/06/2020 20:43

This is my latest purchase www.bravissimo.com/products/club-envy-bikini-top-fw264/#khaki-fw264khk

PhoneLock · 14/06/2020 20:49

I own dozens of bikinis. All are tie side style. None are underwired. Billabong, Rip Curl and O'Neill are my go-to brands.

The market for bikinis is pretty saturated, OP. Are you aiming at a particular demographic? You mentioned earlier "mums"?

I like this kind of bikini bottoms, roll top ones, so I can cover my tummy a bit as I’m walking around, but roll them down a bit when sunbathing.
I’ve had a few of this type over the past few years and I can’t fault them for my figure (34 dd/32e and size 12 bottoms).

Sammoid555 · 14/06/2020 21:30

Hi yes my target market will be for in particular ladies who have lost their confidence like my self to wear a bikini on the beach or public places like swimming baths , spas etc but I cannot say at this particular time what my idea is as i would like to design it and maybe get it protected somehow :) x

I’m another one that buys my bra size and style if I brought my clothes size the top wouldn’t cover a nipple let alone my bust.

strongnosugar · 14/06/2020 22:55

I’d like to see bikini tops that are easily adapted to take a prosthetic for women after breast surgery- the option for picketing and flexible wires.

strongnosugar · 14/06/2020 22:55

*pocketing

Sammoid555 · 14/06/2020 23:03

Hi strongnosugar, I will give that some thought too thank you very much for your feed back ! X

I only buy underwired and in bra sizes. Good bikini bottoms are even harder to find than tops.

Passthecake30 · 15/06/2020 07:49

I buy bra size too, 30f, otherwise they tend to ache by the end of the day.
