Sadly QueenoftheAndals has decided to bow out and not create any more Royal Style and Beauty threads SadSadSad
I'm really hoping she'll reconsider.
Are any of the regular posters interested in continuing her great work ?

Looks somewhat similar to the blue polka dot Alessandra Rich dress she has

My memory isn't great, but didn't she wear that for the family photo for Charles' 70th?

thisenglishlife · 05/07/2020 22:20

Yes, Charles photos and to Bletchley Park

Collages for today

I did not like today's dress. What was going on with the shoulders?!

Why on earth didn't she just wear the very similar but far nicer polka dot one she already has!

paradyning · 05/07/2020 22:39

Apparently CPM has is as well.

I really like Mary's flats. Have seen CP MM in them too so they just be Choos or something

MotherofPearl · 05/07/2020 22:52

Kate's dress today is okay, but I also far prefer the navy spotty one. I do wish she'd get past the fussy dresses phase now. I'd love to see her in something more streamlined.

RomaineCalm · 05/07/2020 23:46

I don't like either of those dresses with the white collars. 'Matronly' is the word that comes to mind, maybe that's a bit harsh.

I loved Meghan's dress in the the birthday photo for Prince Charles.

Not a fan of that dress on Kate at all! I dint especially love the polka dot one either, but it would have been a better choice.

RomaineCalm · 06/07/2020 01:14

Felt that I should add a 'disclaimer'.

I don't like today's dress at all but all of the photos today show Kate and William looking happy, smiling, engaged and interested in the people they met which is the most important thing.

Kate, if you're reading, please ditch the white collars. Smile

BlingLoving · 06/07/2020 09:21

She loves those super conservative old fashioned but "pretty" dresses. She looks fine. Just odd because no one else actually dresses like that. Maybe that's the point?

frugalkitty · 06/07/2020 09:40

'Matronly' is spot on I'd say, I thought it was another case of literal dressing from Kate as she just needed a white apron and she'd have looked like an old style hospital sister or matron.

evilharpy · 06/07/2020 09:52

Oh Kate :( This really wasn't a good look. The shoulders were far too wide for her, the sleeves were just too voluminous, the print was awful, the collar was awful, the prissy little white cuffs were awful. I never normally react so strongly to a dress!

latedecember1963 · 06/07/2020 10:29

Kate's blue dress with the white collar reminds me of 1 I had from Richard Shops back in about 1987/8. I'd just started work and I wanted to look "grown up"
On the link to CP Mary, there's a lovely photo of the future Tzar Nicholas and George V. I'll try to share it.

latedecember1963 · 06/07/2020 10:36

Nicholas is at the back, George is on the left and Albert on the right.
I love old black and white photos!

I thought William looked very good yesterday.
I liked Kate's hair in the ponytail. They both looked happy and relaxed.

LadyEloise · 06/07/2020 12:54

Oh my latedecember1963 !
Didn't Prince William, when a child, look remarkably like Albert Shock
It's a striking resemblance.

Oh yes, I can see it now, LadyEloise. Amazing how those family genes have a habit of popping back into the mix.

thisenglishlife · 06/07/2020 15:13

William's outfit

A closer look at Kate's shoulder details for @pearlypidge (epaulettes?)

Well, exactly @thisenglishlife - they just don't belong on a dress, do they! Very odd.

Overall, it just looked too big and loose on her top half.

But she did look lovely in that she looked really relaxed and happy and interested and engaged. I just wish that she'd worn a nicer dress!

VinoOlive · 06/07/2020 15:55

Mary has worn it as well, I like the print but it's the shoulders that look odd, makes it look too big.

Epaulets

MotherofPearl · 06/07/2020 21:51

Cams has been out and about in Swindon today. I'm not sure this dress shape is very flattering on her, but I like the way the trench 'frames' it in the second photo. The third photo shows her pretty earrings.

She always looks very warm and friendly to me.

I loathe the coat slung on the shoulder look that royal women often go for. Just put your arms through like a normal person!

AppleKatie · 06/07/2020 22:12

That dress reminds me of Kate’s, a bit two similar. Neither to my taste but hey what do I know 🤣

latedecember1963 · 07/07/2020 09:10

I like the top half of Camilla's dress, especially the collar and neckline. I'n not so keen on the bottom half, but I'm not sure how else to style it. Perhaps more of an A line without the pleats. The pattern on the fabric is nice.
