Sadly QueenoftheAndals has decided to bow out and not create any more Royal Style and Beauty threads SadSadSad
I'm really hoping she'll reconsider.
Are any of the regular posters interested in continuing her great work ?

I read somewhere (probably here) that HMQ uses her handbag as a code signal to her Lady in Waiting, ie it’s pointing away from her = “I’m The Queen Get Me Out Of Here”, so if she is no longer performing official engagements whilst at Windsor then she doesn’t need the Handbag Code.

Purely speculation.

BlingLoving · 10/06/2020 09:29

To me it sounded patronising.

Knowing that they have to have at least some staff (I suspect most of the rest of the family are making do with very limited staff), it makes sense for them to be together because that halves the staff requirements. Also, with no one knowing how long it would be, it would be silly for them to be isolated alone.

But "brought to" is like saying, "we brought her dog to be with her in the hospital" or whatever. Icky.

Happy birthday to PP!

It does sound patronizing. But it's not uncommon for people to use language that removes agency for the very old. I hope Philip corrects anyone who does that in his presence. Happy Birthday, Philip!

A bit of royal trivia, his mother was born in Windsor Castle, a fact that supposedly he reminded one of the gray men who was patronizingly showing him round the castle in the days before he married then Princess Elizabeth.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/06/2020 15:39

That's right Seneca & Queen Victoria was there at Princess Alice's (Philip'a Mum) birth.
If was Philip I would have mentioned that fact too.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/06/2020 16:35

I doubt Philip reads these threads but you never know (wonder which MNetter he'd be Grin)

'Happy Birthday' 🍸

AdaColeman · 10/06/2020 16:54

Happy Birthday!

I've always had a soft spot for Phil, often used to see him at carriage driving events, he seemed like good fun.
I'm not keen on the birthday photo, very badly lit, and where is Betty's HANDBAG?

What was Kate's best Ireland look?

I think top right and bottom right.

There really wasn't much to chose from in that trip. But the Vampire's wife dress was a little edgey for her, if literal, so go Kate! The polka dot trousers suit wins by a country mile though.

Did anyone watch the Inside Monaco programme on BBC? It was really quite interesting. Charlene seems to smile more in motion too although the plastic surgery on display but all the ladies featured is quite scary.

Will have to watch that!

I quite liked the Malaysia/Singapore tour dresses (she re-wore the third dress to this year's BAFTAs).

The top two on the left hand side of the montage of photos of Kate's trip to Ireland are the two I least like. Shat was she thinking !!!
None of the outfits stood out for their lovliness , though that dress up second left stood out for its awfulness Smile

That dress looked very 80s and like it had a iceberg lettuce print all over. It cost nearly £2000 (it's currently on sale for £940).

I lived Kate's parasol dress. She really suits the clothes JP makes for her.

thisenglishlife · 11/06/2020 13:02

I think Jenny Packham is her best designer (they have created so many lovely dresses and clutches), Erdem is her worst and surprisingly, McQueen makes the solid but boring pieces.

RomaineCalm · 11/06/2020 13:40

I quite liked the iceberg lettuce dress under the coat but less so when it was revealed in all its salad glory! 🥗 The rest of the Ireland outfits were ok - I liked the two black and white ones.

All of the Malaysia dresses get a thumbs up from me. I loved the evening dress when it was worn then - less so when it was altered for the UK event (was it the BAFTAs or similar?).

thisenglishlife · 11/06/2020 13:46

Yes, it was BAFTAs 2020

MrsMcGillicuddy · 11/06/2020 13:47

The Jenny Packham parasol dress is my absolute favourite Kate's look, closely followed by the sequin pink gown she first wore in 2011. So gorgeous.

DOC has a new private secretary
Kate Middleton just added a new member to her royal inner circle. Hannah Cockburn-Logie has been hired as the Duchess of Cambridge’s new private secretary, according to her LinkedIn profile. Cockburn-Logie started the role this month, and she’ll be heavily involved in helping Kate plan and schedule her appointments as well as accompany her during her engagements.

Cockburn-Logie is no stranger to Kate and Prince William. She accompanied the royal couple on their 2016 tour of India and Bhutan, which she led and organized. She also worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for nearly 20 years, rising to the position of Head of Political and Bilateral Relations, India. Along the way, she was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to the U.K.-India relationship after Kate and William’s tour as well as an MVO (Royal Victorian Order) for her work leading Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Slovenia in 2018.

It took Kate, 38, several months to decide who to hire in the vital position after Catherine Quinn stepped down as her private secretary after two years. Quinn played a big part in helping the Duchess of Cambridge with her “early years” project, which aimed to steer children away from addiction and crime.

Looking forward to the results from the 5 Big Questions survey and the related work from the project. I thought that the early years project focus was on early year development not to steer children away from addiction and crime as reported above.

MotherofPearl · 11/06/2020 14:59

You couldn't give me that iceberg lettuce dress, let alone make me pay money for it, sale or no sale.

Agree about the parasol outfit @paradyning, gorgeous.

thisenglishlife · 11/06/2020 15:26

I'd dye it @MotherofPearl and get the style slightly tweaked by a tailor 😂

thisenglishlife · 11/06/2020 17:46

The Queen sent one of the first emails in 1976. Imagine having HM in one of your Zoom windows!

Kate re-wore a Stella McCartney dress I really like during a video message (from somewhere else in the house!). It seems like a nicely decorated home. Heavier eyebrows again.

Horsemad · 11/06/2020 18:06

Top & bottom left in the Irish pics. I like the blue Stella McCartney dress and a rewear too, good good!

MotherofPearl · 11/06/2020 18:27

With those Irish tour outfits I'm going to pick the black spotty blouse with black trousers combo. I really disliked most of the clothes on that tour.

Romaine, with your name you surely have to love the lettuce dress!
