Can you get poly filler for your face?!

I've got oily skin with cystic acne, scars and stretched pores. Is there a primer that will fill them in? I usually use a mattifying primer but I'm hoping there's something better.

I've seen the NYX Pore Filler primer. Has anyone used that? It's hard to tell how good it is from online reviews.

I was on a Teams call this week and realised that my make up had just sunk into a stretched pore I have on my forehead and it looked like I had a gaping crater on my face Sad

Help please!

i clicked because your title gave me a giggle, i'm not in a dissimilar situation. i don't have any advice but am bumping for you!

Drinkandknowthings · 27/05/2020 15:40

I think Benefit the Porefessional is one of the best. I’ve also heard great things about the ELF one (poreless putty primer I think)

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 15:44

Thank you @dudsville!

@Drinkandknowthings I wondered about the ELF one.

Unfortunately I haven't got loads of money to keep buying stuff in the hope that it works. I'll have to take a chance on one and hope it's right.

What is your dr doing about your cystic acne?.

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 16:05

@Fluffycloudland77 you replied on another thread with some very useful advice and the NICE guidelines.

Armed with that I called the doctor yesterday and finally have a referral to dermatology!

It's only taken 8 years...

At the moment I'm taking Lymecycline and using Adapalene gel with very minimal results. I've been using it for 6 months.

I love benefits porefessional. They do a few different kinds and you can buy travel sizes to see which one you like best.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2020 16:11

Oh well done. I cannot stand people not helping patients when they can.

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 16:25

@Fluffycloudland77 I've been arguing with them on and off for years. Luckily I got a locum this time and actually she was surprised I hadn't been referred already.

She said she could see I'd tried everything they could offer and due to my scarring said there was no question of me meeting the criteria.

It’s so random isn’t it? I really think the beauty industry has hijacked acne and we need to put it back as a medical problem.

Ok if you never wash your face it’s not going to be cured by a prescription but no one takes care of their skin like an adult acne sufferer.

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 16:54

It really is. The last doctor I saw admitted himself that no amount of changing my diet and over the counter stuff was going to work and I definitely need medication. But followed that with it not being bad enough for a referral.

The doctor I saw before that and the one I spoke to yesterday immediately said I needed a referral. So clearly it is bad enough. Or certainly persistent enough and not responding to the treatment they can prescribe.

I’d like to see the chart of how many spots per sq cm you need before derm see you. Really would. They’ve obviously never had it or they’d know how much it affects you.

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 17:09

Well the first locum stopped counting when she got to 30 spots and that was just one side of my face and neck!

The doctor that told me it wasn't bad enough also told me he'd had "a pizza face" at uni so understood it wasn't great but implied that women have it easier because we can wear make up!

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2020 17:15

Yeah try having a “pizza face” and wrinkles.

My dm worked on a male make up counter in the 60’s, it’s an option for them 😂.

MushroomTree · 27/05/2020 18:15

I'm only 28 but I have this fantasy of getting to enjoy a few years of clear skin before the proper wrinkles start to set in! Grin

I wear make up. I enjoy wearing make up. But I'd also like to enjoy not wearing make up without worrying that all people notice about me are the pustulating boils on my face, neck and chest.

Summer is a nightmare. It's a toss up between no make up and a greasy, spotty beetroot face or make up and looking like a melting wax figure within 10 minutes because the sweat, oil, and make up has combined to run off my face!

You could be describing my skin but have wrinkles too! I find that either Benefit Porefessional or Vita Liberata Beauty Blur works best, I mix it with a bronzer (Nars Laguna), my skin doesn't look flawless but it looks a lot better and healthier. QVC sell both and you can try them and send them back for a full refund if they don't suit, that way you aren't wasting money on products that don't work.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/05/2020 00:51

Funny I was just looking earlier at all the massively visible pores from my blackhead riddled nose and wondering how to get rid.

Googled. You can't.

Pushing 40 and still have oily teenage skin

Nightmare.

MushroomTree · 28/05/2020 18:17

Thanks for the recommendations @achillesratty

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit it's a nightmare isn't it? And where does these massive pores even come from?! I've got one on my forehead and one on my chest that I don't ever remember being spots or blackheads in the first place. They just randomly appeared one day and I've had massive craters ever since. The scar tissue I know is from acne but the stretched pores are a mystery.

I think Maybelline's Baby Face is a pretty great dupe for Porefessional. Might be worth a try first.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 18:46

NYX angel veil is good, a famous makeup artist recommended it on his instagram over benefit porefessional.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 18:52

Oh wait - just looked at the NYX pore filler primer quickly, I think you should go for it. It has lots of rave reviews and more targeted towards your issues (Angel veil is matifying so not necessarily what you want)

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 28/05/2020 18:56

I have a really deep hole in my face. I looked forever to find something to "fill" it with. I haven't found that yet but I do use the NYX one. I find it ok and is the best option so far. On Amazon I bought a dupe by w7 , which is a lot cheaper. It wasn't quite as good , but you could give it a try ? I will see if I can find it .

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 28/05/2020 18:58

I found it a little bit more cakey than the NYX, but worth a try ?

dumpling123 · 28/05/2020 19:17

I've found a combination of benefit porefessional and clarins instant smooth very helpful

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/05/2020 19:26

Belly I use W7 Porefection for preference because of the cakiness, it fills my crater-like pores better 😂
