Shamelessly copying another post but for us 40 somethings...

OP posts:

MeandEm; Whistles; Wyse London; Winser London; Hush; Gap; Pure Collection; Boden; jBrand for jeans; the White Company.

fizzpopbang123 · 26/05/2020 08:40

Cos, Arket, Toast, Sunspel mainly for everyday tops, trousers, knitwear
Gap for plain t shirts. I like some All Saints coats and jackets.
Sweaty Betty, Fashercise, LNDR, Sports Edit, Varley, Adidas and Nike, all online for gym and leisure wear
Cos, MiH, JBrand, Re/Done, Toast for jeans
Matches and NAP, plus I have a load of independent boutiques with an online presence bookmarked where I buy the following:
YMC, APC, Isabel Marant Etoile, Common Projects, Joseph, Soeur, Grenson, Birkenstock, K Jacques St Tropez, Ancient Green Sandals

I also mainly buy in sales and am really good at Quidco, signing up for newsletters and googling discount codes!

Terralee · 26/05/2020 13:11

I have a lower budget so I tend to shop in:

F&F at Tesco
Dorothy Perkins
New Look
River Island
Accessorize Beach
Primark
Zara
Next
Topshop
Schuh
Office
I did like Oasis

The thing is I wear a uniform to work so I can dress how I like out of work.
Basically for I dress for home, going out during the day, going out at night & the gym.

I avoid some of the styles that are too young or cheap looking & go for basics & stuff that looks nice quality if possible which you can get from these stores cheaply if you look carefully.
I have lots of items I've worn for several years so the clothes do last! But I tend to change things like jeans regularly as styles change.
For example I've got a white cot

Terralee · 26/05/2020 13:13

Sorry. I've got a white cotton embroidered dress from New Look that I've worn for 4 years, it's really pretty!

OldSpeclkledHen · 26/05/2020 13:16

Aldi or Lidl. Sainsbury's if I want mcvities digestive biscuits.

Ohh, you mean clothes?! 😂
Sainsbury's TU, eBay, Joules

BillieEilish · 26/05/2020 13:17

Zara, Reiss, Massimo Dutti, H and M, Ghost etc... same as always! 49.

youvegottobekidding · 26/05/2020 14:17

Asda, New Look, are my go to, occasionally Sainsbury’s & Dorothy Perkins. I’m late 40’s. Recently purchased a couple of casual tops from Look Again online.

EmeliaLily · 26/05/2020 14:20

I still get a lot of my clothes from charity shops, but I'm also a fan of M&S, H&M, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon, LK Bennet, Zara...

newlabelwriter · 26/05/2020 14:21

Toast, Cos, Arket, Otherstories, Uniqlo, H&M, Olive & Meadows. Oh and Ebay because I love a bargain.

JessicaDay · 26/05/2020 14:40

Monki, Beaumont Organic, Aspiga, Patagonia, Cos, White Company

Gwenhwyfar · 26/05/2020 15:44

Mainly Oasis, Warehouse and Zara.

Will also visit any shop not extremely expensive available where I live, but don't buy from them so often: H&M, New Look, Top Shop (the odd jacket that's for all ages), M&S, Hobbs in sales, Primark, Matalan, Fat Face, TK-Max, Gap.

Gwenhwyfar · 26/05/2020 17:11

Terralee - I always go in to River Island just in case, but can never find anything for my age group.

Oly4 · 26/05/2020 17:41

White Company, Boden, Tommy Hilfiger (plain stuff), Hobbs, Gap (amazing long lasting cotton), Jigsaw, Ted Baker

VeraorHolly · 26/05/2020 17:46

Jigsaw was great for me last year, also Boden for staples, Hobbs, white company.

Little DD and I spent 30 minutes today admiring the Boden catalogue, I love the summer dresses this year (after several ghastly Boden years) but I have no reason at all to buy a summer dress this year. We picked out clothes for our imaginary holiday.

I buy levi jeans every year on a trip to USA, but not this year so will have to hold over.

Right now I am living in Sweatty Betty and some very old lululemon cotton 3/4 yoga leggings.

sonjadog · 26/05/2020 17:57

I get most on Etsy. Things are a little more expensive but they are natural fabrics, made to my size and good quality. Also, I like supporting small businesses. Otherwise, I get a stuff at Seasalt and from New Look Curve mostly. New Look has some dross, but also some great things if you keep an eye on their stock.

Retailqueenie · 26/05/2020 18:11

Anthropologie - for the odd thing
H&M - basics
Winser London - work stuff
& other stories - jumpers
Whistles - again only the odd thing
Cos - work stuff
Zara
Asda jeans - straight leg stretch - have many pairs..

It’s an eclectic mix tbh. I Love independent boutiques tho for individual pieces, prob the majority of wardrobe... love some of the danish brands...

mizu · 26/05/2020 18:20

COS, TOAST, and other stories, Zara, monki, eBay and occasionally urban outfitters and depop Grin ( I blame my teen DDs), some independent brands too that I follow on Instagram.

Kenworthington · 26/05/2020 18:23

44 here.
Mostly H&M
A few bits from Cos
Kin (John Lewis)
Free people
ASOS
The odd thing from Urban outfitters
The odd thing from Top shop
Small boutique type places

justforthecake · 26/05/2020 18:27

Sainsbury's, Apricot, H&M, superdry. Primarni.

waterjungle · 26/05/2020 18:59

Anyone mind giving the name of the independent brands they follow on Instagram? I need inspiration!

SollaSollew · 26/05/2020 19:02
  1. Zara for about 70% of what I buy, Whistles for barrel leg jeans and coats plus the odd top, &Other Stories sometimes, mainly dresses, jumpers from M&S cashmere when they are in the sale.

I normally work just off Oxford Street so I'm saving an absolute fortune during lock down!

Paris14eme · 26/05/2020 19:10

Zara, Hush, Massimo Dutti, Gap, Boden, French Connection (sometimes), Reiss (sometimes), LK Bennett (think it’s gone now 🙄), Boux Avenue and Rosie for M&S for lingerie

Bertucci · 26/05/2020 19:19

Hush, Whistles, Jigsaw (not much), Zara, & Other Stories, H&M sometimes.

Have a couple of nice boutiques near me and I buy a fair bit from there. I recently bought a Lily and Lionel dress and some Veja trainers from one of them. Thankful they've had a brilliant online service in lockdown.

MrsKoala · 26/05/2020 19:31

Reiss, Hobbs, Boden, Jigsaw, Jaegar, Gap, Diane Von Furstenberg, whistles, Vivienne Westwood, Zara, J Crew.

Jeans - I have a high waisted pair from both Levi’s and Betty Barclay.

mizu · 26/05/2020 19:43

water jungle I like kemitelford on Instagram and thefrugality and wearandwhere and wearsmymoney for great suggestions and ideas and links to lovely things.
