Shamelessly copying another post but for us 40 somethings...

OP posts:

Boden for work.

Fat Face, Top Shop, New Look, Amazon for casual.

Crystalspider · 25/05/2020 15:04

H&M, Zara, Abercrombie, Mint Velvet, Just bought a few things from Mango, ok but sending some of it back, find its a bit hit and miss on the quality. Shoe shops, I like Dune and Moda in pelle.

EllaPaella · 25/05/2020 15:05

Allsaints, Hush, Oliver Bonas, NoaNoa, Sezane, Topshop and Newlook.
I used to like Warehouse as well. If I had the budget I'd buy a lot more from Freepeople.

Puffinhead · 25/05/2020 15:06

I’m the same as @foreverblessedbee except for Tesco - I much prefer Sainsbury’s plus I also have the odd item from Monsoon. I recently bought a Warehouse dress from John Lewis that was lovely - I always though I was too old for their stuff so pleasantly surprised.

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 25/05/2020 15:12

Basics from Uniqlo, Next & Gap

Nice things from Toast, Jigsaw, the Outnet & Eileen Fisher

Almost 47!
Select, New Look, H&M, Primark, Topshop.
Occasionally Asda, but find a lot of their tops too big in a size 8, and I'm usually a 10.
Since lockdown I have bought a lot more from New Look than I usually would.

Fridaysgirl · 25/05/2020 15:16

Baukjen

Only discovered it this year and have bought loads. Yes it's pricey but the quality is excellent.

HermanHermit · 25/05/2020 15:26

Zara, any of which I can order online & know it will fit. Whistles for workwear. The Outnet for partywear. Bella Freud own store sale for jumpers. Office / kurt Geiger for shoes, Adidas for trainers

Ginandbearit1 · 25/05/2020 15:58

Hobbs, Boden, Joules, John Lewis, Mint Velvet, Phase 8 and some summer skirts etc from Sainsbury

TableNiner · 25/05/2020 16:14

Mango, Esprit, Next, Vero Moda, La Redoute, Gap, Oasis and Warehouse as was, H&M, M&S, Clark’s, Aldo, Office and Dorothy Perkins.

The shops I no longer find useful are Topshop, River Island and New Look. I find Fatface and White Stuff unflattering and quite shapeless.

I feel like we are Hush’s target market and I like the vibe. Got a T-shirt from there recently and might consider other stuff although it is rather expensive. Boden is another one but a lot of their stuff seems quite ‘jazzy’

DoraemonDingDong · 25/05/2020 16:53

I shop at Zara, Cos, &Other Stories and Uniqlo.

I might look at Whistles, Mango, Topshop and H&M but rarely find anything that I want to buy (even though I went through a big Whistles phase a while back).

My style is quite plain (very few prints or colours) but I like to think, interesting. Those shops suit my aesthetics.

boredboredboredboredbored · 25/05/2020 17:12

Cos and Arket mainly with H&M for basics. I adore Cos it's just my style, simple 🤓

boredboredboredboredbored · 25/05/2020 17:13

Oh yes and ASOS for things like summer dresses, Topshop jeans too.

SoberCurious · 25/05/2020 17:45

Boden, M&S, Next, Monsoon

ineedto · 25/05/2020 18:10

Zara, Boden, Jigsaw, Hush, Sainsbury’s, New Look, Tesco, Mint Velvet, Me & Em, Oliver Bonas, Mango, M&S, Sweaty Betty and Monsoon.

Verite1 · 25/05/2020 20:20

Reiss. Baukjen. Sezane. Outnet. Whistles. Sandro. Oliver bonas. All Saints.

Toilenstripes · 25/05/2020 20:22

M&S for basics, John Lewis and Boden for everything else, but I’m a size 18 so have limited options.

hollieberrie · 25/05/2020 20:26

Uniqlo, Cos, H&M, Mango, Esprit
I must check out Baukjen & Arket, heard good things.
I'm 41.

Crispsareafoodgroup · 25/05/2020 20:56

Just looking on baukjen. Expensive! Can a long sleeve t shirt really be worth £70?

fiorentina · 25/05/2020 21:52

Cos, Other Stories, Uniqlo, Whistles, John Lewis - Kin & And/Or, H&M.

Spaceprincess · 25/05/2020 22:25

Asos, Topshop, charity shops/vintage

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/05/2020 23:34

Cos, Whistles, Topshop, &OtherStories, used to buy dresses from Warehouse, Zara, Arket, Levi’s, Monki.

I find Cos works well for my shape for trousers, Whistles and Levi’s for jeans, Stories for tops/knitwear, Arket for cardigans, Monki for summer stuff like t-shirts and midi skirts. Zara, and also ASOS, turn up some real gems, but not always. Topshop are great for blouses, sometimes summer skirts and dresses. I know many people rave about their jeans but they are not cut for bigger bums. (Or my bigger bum.)

I’m 5ft 6 and a hippy size 10. It’s been really useful to develop a kind of “bank” of where does what that fits well and suits my style.

Muminabun · 26/05/2020 07:55

Phase 8, Primark, next, fat face, mint velvet, seasalt. Topshop for jeans occasional H&M

SantaMonicaPier · 26/05/2020 08:00

TK Maxx, Fat Face, Joules, Superdry, Boden

Eve · 26/05/2020 08:02

Mainly a department store local to me in a market town.
