They're really light and a sort of yellowy colour. The listing stated it was brown henna.
Is there another that's darker that I can use?

Ps I have loads of freckles and would love for them to be gone Grin

Pieceofpurplesky · 24/05/2020 11:59

OP I bet they look fine. My freckles (natural) are all different colours and change depending on my skin tone - so yours will be fine.

You can actually buy a freckle make up pen if you look on amazon.

Ignore the posters being mean

MoMagic · 24/05/2020 12:00

It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you like them. I think they look beautiful if done correctly.

There are different types of henna and most of them start as a brown and then fade to a different colour. If there were from an Indian shop, they mostly start off red and then fade to orange. You could try a place like Lush which has different coloured henna but just make sure you never use black, as this is dangerous and can cause reactions.

HappyHammy · 24/05/2020 12:01

We used to do this with an eyebrow or eyeliner pencil. Sorry that doesnt help long term though.

Cocolapew · 24/05/2020 12:03

My DD has done then with fake tan before, looked very natural.

WhatwouldLangdo · 24/05/2020 12:06

Well I'm full goth

What does this even mean?

I don't think MN is the demographic you're looking for. There must be a subreddit for this somewhere..

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 24/05/2020 12:08

Bronzie does a video on how to do them with fake tan https://bronzieuk.com/shop/ultimate-tan-freckles-stencil/?gclid=CjwKCAjwtqj2BRBYEiwAqfzur1FvJyrD6XZJ-tt6hbWfT3xn9Rqvn4cOi45zVSfDLUyWYCccMO6qRoCFjYQAvDBwE

I think it sounds cute, ignore the people being rude Hmm we don't all look the same, or want to! That's probably a good thing...

dudsville · 24/05/2020 12:10

That sounds cute! I have freckles and love them but never imagined anyone would think it was a thing to do!

MoMagic · 24/05/2020 12:12

WhatwouldLangdo

If you don’t know what a full goth is, maybe this isn’t the place for you!

Musicforsmorks · 24/05/2020 12:18

I’m in awe of the bitchiness here, as usual, how very dare she not conform.
Anything for a pile on eh, must be a slow day in lockdown land lol.
Pathetic, primary school level dipshittery.

Cosyblanky · 24/05/2020 12:22

Glad my natural freckles are back in fashion...

WhatwouldLangdo · 24/05/2020 12:23

@MoMagic

That phrase is absolutely meaningless. But I get that some people are itching to be the only ones like that in the world so crack on! Smile

Goingtogetflamed · 24/05/2020 12:24

@WhatwouldLangdo if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.

Why wouldn’t OP be welcome here? I’d love to be brave/ artistic/ energetic enough to try things like fake freckles. I can barely choose a pair of shoes at the minute.

OP, I have no advice for you but Good luck with your freckles Smile

LadyLeucadia · 24/05/2020 12:27

You need to use proper body art quality henna and leave it on and keep it moist as long as possible of you want a really dark stain. Luckily, if it's already pretty light it will fade really quickly so you can try again with better quality stuff.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 24/05/2020 12:27

Isn’t it a case of leaving the henna on for longer? I don’t know what kind of henna you’ve got but most of them go darker the long you leave before washing it off.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 24/05/2020 12:27

Doesn't henna darken over time after you've washed it off? It's always been quite yellow whenever I've first washed it off, and then has gone a darker colour over the next day or so. I've only ever had it on my hands though.

CovidicusRex · 24/05/2020 12:28

Fake freckles are really mainstream. They’re in the same camp as fairy floss pink hair and septum piercings. Anyway, yes you can get darker henna but you have to be careful because it can go red often. You should always patch test with henna (not only so you can see the colour/Make sure you don’t react but also so that you can see how it darkens after application and then later fades). Just google henna cones and pick the colour you want.

MashedSpud · 24/05/2020 12:29

I used to wear it on my hands but it only went a medium orange on my skin (I’m white) so I’d suggest fake tan as suggested.

Bluntness100 · 24/05/2020 12:31

I think as long as you like them that’s all that matters. I’m sure you know it’s not very mainstream. I’d suggest not Posting a picture.

isthismylifenow · 24/05/2020 12:32

I'll have to tell my freckles they went out in 2016. How very dare they keep just being there in 2020.

I wish I could give you some of mine OP.

I think the colour of the henna depends on the tone of your skin. I did a henna tattoo once and it was also yellowish but the lady doing it said she had used the same henna for hers, and jt was very much darker. I am very fair though

There's no such thing as dark henna - henna is red. Brown or black henna has something added to it to make it darker. That might be a safe, natural dye such as indigo or it might be a dodgy chemical. The only way to get a darker effect with unadulterated henna is to leave it on for longer. It will darken a little with oxidisation for a couple of days after application, but it will always be essentially red.

Orchidflower1 · 24/05/2020 12:39

Firstly @MaggyMaysBeenTakenAway if you want freckles then go for it. You’re not hurting anyone ( but do a patch test next time😄)

Secondly, what about the semi permanent eye brow dies? Maybellene do one and I think loreal.

Sorry you’re struggling with your MH. 🌺

Pelleas · 24/05/2020 12:39

I meant to add, check the ingredients very carefully with so-called dark or black henna. It can cause horrendous damage and the last place you'd want that is on your face.
