What do you wear on your feet, around the house, in summer.

I've never realised it before but maybe I have some sensory issues Grin I really hate bare feet, I'm not over keen on sandals and really can't wear anything with a toe post.

In winter, I wear lovely sheepskin booties, then I have lighter weight ballet pump style slippers, but they're still "cosy" and too warm for days like today. What do you wear if flip flops are out of the question?

Flip flops - havianas, very comfy

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/05/2020 19:28

Toms. Sooooo comfy I don't even know I'm wearing them

lilgreen · 19/05/2020 19:32

Barefoot if possible, if it’s chilly then socks.

Gilead · 19/05/2020 20:03

Birkenstocks. Cold floors no matter the weather.

CatBatCat · 19/05/2020 20:04

Birkenstocks

Ultrasoft · 19/05/2020 20:08

Ok, I've ordered some Crocs sliders which is not a sentence I ever thought I'd say! 7% cash back on Quidco and 20% off with free delivery on MyVoucher codes if anyone's interested.

Thank you

Crocs and socks. Very glam. I am never bare foot except in the bath.

ZarkingBell · 19/05/2020 20:10

Birkenstocks or skechers.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 19/05/2020 20:12

A pair of fake cheapy florescent pink primark Crocs that I bought in desperation when very pregnant in the middle of a hot summer over 10 years ago.

I’ll give them their due, they’ve been thoroughly used and abused but they’re still going strong.

TattiePants · 19/05/2020 20:24

I think I also have sensory issues but the other way. I can't bare anything on my feet. My shoes come off the second I walk into the house and I probably wear socks 10 times a year at most.

HeddaGarbled · 19/05/2020 20:29

I felt the same as you about toe posts until I discovered flip flops with cloth toe posts. My current ones are by Rocket Dog.

Richlyfruited · 19/05/2020 20:30

I can't go barefoot either - I'm guessing it's a sensory thing as I immediately go on my tiptoes!

I've got some fab summer lightweight Mahabis which I bought last year. I wear either those or my Toms around the house which are just like slippers.

Ultrasoft · 19/05/2020 20:36

I've always had a "fear" of sand, my worst nightmare is a wet child who's been rolling in it (how do they do that?!) and as a child myself I could become hysterical if sand wasn't cleaned off my feet properly before shoes went back on. I wear socks and trainers on the beach now Grin No one has every suggested this might ever be anything but madness!

flip flops and/or sliders. i can't bear being bare of foot. i have hard floors throughout downstairs and a 3yo so it is not safe.

TheRattleBag · 19/05/2020 20:41

I'm a bit like that OP - can't abide sand touching me in any form. I can just about go for a walk on the damp compacted sand of a beach, if properly shod, but can't do it barefoot.

I also can't cope with toe post sandals at all, despite having tried many times.

And those barefoot style shoes with individual toe pockets make my skin crawl!

skankingpiglet · 19/05/2020 20:42

I'm barefoot most of the time inside and out at home, but if I must wear shoes (eg digging over the veg patch), then I wear crocs or water shoes.

kerkyra have you not discovered fleece-lined crocs yet? I only use mine in the colder months, but they're great. Much comfier and less hassle than socks.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 19/05/2020 20:44

Fluffy slippers are still on! Or it's Skechers Goga Mat flip-flops. Very comfy. I will wear Birks with or without socks too.

Biancadelrioisback · 19/05/2020 20:51

I am the opposite! I hate having things on my feet. I love wandering around bare footed, especially outside. Obviously I wear shoes for work/shopping/socialising, but to pop to the postbox or potter around in the garden, nothing. Bliss.

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/05/2020 21:01

Barefoot summer or winter. I think I have hooves not feet. I do have a pair of fit flip flip flops to take the bins out and stuff like that

Time40 · 19/05/2020 21:08

I can't believe no one's said espadrilles.

Tiramisuiloveyou · 19/05/2020 21:11

I have sore feet so wear an old pair of Fitflop lowish wedges and socks in the house. Dead sexy not but comfy and I couldn’t care less.

imamearcat · 19/05/2020 21:15

I always just wear socks or bare feet.

AdoptedBumpkin · 19/05/2020 21:16

Only socks and maybe slippers when it's not so warm.

MrsMaryBOOface · 19/05/2020 21:19

*@Candlesonthetable

Ballet shoes (I get them from a dance shop). I find they aren't as hot as slippers. I don't like wearing anything open at the front as in the past I have caught the front of mule type slippers on the stairs.*

Oh please show, are they really comfy??

PerfidiousAlbion · 19/05/2020 21:21

bare feet or slip-on trainers.

Generally, I hate wearing shoes. Just feels so wrong.
