Cath Kidston do a few shirt dresses. I bought one a few years ago and call it my Kirsty dress at a 10th of the price

LadyEloise · 18/05/2020 11:09

What section of the Sunday Times was it in please ?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/05/2020 11:13

@Nowisthemonthofmaying I think you could sew one fairly easily - the Aster doesn't even have the pleated skirt, it's just a double circle skirt attached to a shirt top(with buttons all the way down)

If you have/can find a shirt pattern that works for you it would be an easy adaptation.

Scruffyoak · 18/05/2020 11:14

I love it

What was the article about ?

marmiteloversunite · 18/05/2020 14:30

Look at Kemi Telford for fabulous prints made into dresses and skirts.

AnotherBoredOne · 18/05/2020 14:32

I like the dress.
Some party poopers on here 😝

rosiepony · 18/05/2020 20:11

I’ve grown to love Kirstie. She’s made some great on air feminist comments in the latest Location series.

steppemum · 18/05/2020 20:21

In th earticle someone linked to, it calls these dresses Kirsties figure flattering dresses.
I like the fatc that she has her own style and wears what she is comfortable in, but I don't think these are figure flattering.

Mostly they all look as if the waist is just a bit too high up under the boobs. I know she has some made to measure, so I can't really understand it.

I am tall and long bodied, and have the same problem, all off the peg dresses are too short in the body, if I could get an extra 3 inhces between wasit and boob they would look amazing.
When I look at Kirsty I often think she has the same problem.

steppemum · 18/05/2020 20:24

Those who say sew one, can anyone recommend a pattern?

ElizabethMainwaring · 19/05/2020 01:23

@LadyEloise
Hi! Kirstie and Phil and others were giving advice on selling your home during the 'current climate'. Especially regarding house viewing.
The picture op used was from the cover, you couldn't actually see more of the dress than the picture op linked. No pic inside.

ElizabethMainwaring · 19/05/2020 01:24

PS you didn't miss much!

mrpenny · 19/05/2020 02:09

@steppemum ..totally agree with your comments.

Risking more negative comments but I just liked the print!

I love Kirstie Allsopp, nobody can get away with an eccentric dress like she does, her clothes are always cheerful. Long may she continue.

eaglejulesk · 19/05/2020 02:43

Some really unnecessary comments on this thread.....only sad people are mean.

There seem to be a lot of sad people on MN

LadyEloise · 19/05/2020 08:19

Thank you ElizabethMainwaring.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 19/05/2020 12:26

@StatisticallyChallenged I've found some pretty similar ones... the trick will be making it rather than having it languishing in my sewing pile Grin

@steppemum this one looks like it might work, with the long sleeves & fuller skirt option and minus the top pockets

this one on Etsy is really nice too, I like the fuller skirt

MrsFruitcake · 19/05/2020 12:30

Nothing to add really other than I think she has a great sense of her own style, what works for her and is always immaculately turned out. I would very much like to be her best friend! 😁

steppemum · 19/05/2020 12:52

Oh thanks for all the pattern recommendations!

Luvacuppatea · 19/05/2020 15:02

Wow - and here I was thinking the nastiness was just on AIBU! OP, have you looked online at ‘love ur look’? London based and specialise in the vintage/tea dress/shirt dress look. Stuff I could see Kirsty Allsopp wearing without the big £££.. Dresses in the more reasonable £50 to £75 mark. Tempted to have a spend myself........
