Is there a product that will genuinely stimulate eyelash growth?

My eyelashes used to be my pride and joy but they're not as thick and long as they used to be. They're also very pale. I have just turned 50 so maybe it's another of those lovely ageing signs I need to accept. I cannot be arsed with extensions but I do wear mascara (when not in lockdown).

Anyway my question, has anyone used any products that have worked to bring some life back to eyelashes?

Eyebrowns also diminishing by the way.

Revitalash is working too well on me. My lashes are scraping against my glasses when I blink.

Livingoffcoffee · 16/05/2020 17:25

@Patsypie which one do you use please?

damnthatanxiety · 16/05/2020 20:05

Castor oil is just oil. It will help condition the lashes like oils and conditioners do for hair but it won't stimulate any miraculous growth. If you have weak and dry lashes, it can help keep them in a better condition thereby preventing premature breakage but of you want actual enhanced growth, you need a product that will extend the growth cycle - bimatoprost is a prostoglandin. These are the ONLY thing PROVEN to extend the growth cycle. Other products lilek revitalash have a compound similar to prostoglandins and can work for some people. Most products are simply conditioners - like castor oil

Revitalash (my DD uses ) and I use Revitabrow

I have rubbish eyelashes but TBH , they are not a huge issue for me . I have used the lash serum in the past and it did work really well for me but now I don't even wear mascara so I'm not fussed .
My DD has amazing eyelashes anyway but when she uses the serum and has LVL people ask her outright if she has extensions .

I am using Revitabrow again ( I had good results in the past) I took a photo of my brows 2 weeks ago and intend to re-photo every so often.
My brows were heavily tweezered when I was a teen/20s it was fashion .

I tried Castor oil , didn't like it so didn't carry on.

QVC used to sell Revitalash and did some really good deals . But now they stopped Sad

You need to make sure you get a bona fida stockist . Lots of fakes out there .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/05/2020 01:03

Also bear in mind things like rubbing your eyes when you remove your make up, rubbing your eyes when they're tired and using eyelash curlers can all damage your eye lashes .
Especially if you use curlers after using mascara ouch (though there are silicone ones that are non stick)

Bluesheep8 · 17/05/2020 08:12

I used revitalash for about 15 years. Swore by it. Then QVC stopped selling it. I now use Rapidlash, it's about a third of the price and just as good imo.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 07/06/2020 19:49

Rapidlash. Despite its name it takes about 6 weeks to show any improvement but does work. You have to be patient! It's quite expensive too but a tube lasts ages. I use Rapidbrow as I lost my eyebrows to chemo and they never grew back properly. I think it's the same solution in both lash and brow!

Livingoffcoffee · 07/06/2020 19:58

@DagenhamRoundhouse Have you noticed any side effects with RapidLash? I've put it in and out of my shopping basket a dozen times since I first saw this thread.

JessicaDay · 07/06/2020 20:06

Chantecaille Longest Lash Faux Cils is a mascara with growth serum in it. It does work. It’s quite expensive but it’s also a mascara so you save a hit there.

VerbenaGirl · 07/06/2020 20:09

I started using UKLash a couple of weeks ago and am seeing some promising results. I have always had good eyelashes, but they are definitely suffering from ageing and not looking as good.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 07/06/2020 20:11

@Livingoffcoffee
No side effects with the brow one but when I used the Rapidlash it stung a bit, only cos it's nearer to the eyeballs!

Rosequartz7 · 07/06/2020 20:23

I used castor oil on my eye lashes and brows and I can confirm it worked amazingly well for me, new eyebrow hairs sprouting and my bf actually commented on the eyelash growth. Would recommend. I googled it and quite a few people had good results with it, cheap too!

Stars2theside · 07/06/2020 21:09

I use LiLash, it's brilliant. It's a bit pricey, but my eyelashes were absolutely destroyed after my lash extensions had to come off due to lockdown. You use it every night, a little bit goes a long way. And in 6 weeks, my lashes were so long! Longer thab they've ever been! I also bought lancome cils primer - and I use that before my mascara - also makes a huge difference!
My eyelashes are so long now, I've tinted them myself and hardly ever wear mascara now!

lotusbell · 07/06/2020 21:18

My dad uses an eye drop, can't remember if it's for hayfever or his eye health but it made his lashes grow so long they touched his glasses. He tried trimming them but they are too sensitive. Presumably one of the ingredients on the drops caused it!

Nossacyelsel · 07/06/2020 21:30

Bowe organics lash oil is brilliant
Available on Amazon

kaydon69 · 08/06/2020 07:49

Rivatalash advanced really works, need to be patient, takes a good 4 weeks to notice any growth.

Alocasia · 08/06/2020 08:05

Bimatoprost and Lumigan are drugs to treat glaucoma. A side effect is they make the lashes grow and often darken the skin around the eye. I would be careful using drugs which can affect the eye itself on the area around the eye.

Livingoffcoffee · 08/06/2020 09:37

@Alocasia Yeah that's what keeps popping back into my head and why I keep not quite buying anything yet...Though glaucoma does run in my family...

greycover · 08/06/2020 09:48

Word of warning, all these products slow the change over rate of your lashes, they don't 'stimulate growth'. So if you lose a couple and get a gap, it'll take forever to fill the gap again.

Also, if you start using, you have to use everyday (or just in a regular routine of however many times a week) otherwise you will get gappy lashes and lots of fall out.

After I stopped using completely it took 2 years for my lashes to go back to their old shedding pattern.

Rapid lash and lilash are the ones I've used and they certainly made my lashes long, but it's not without drawbacks.

The drawbacks come to light about 3 or so months down the line.

earlgreytea1 · 08/06/2020 11:00

I cannot recommend NYK1 lash serum enough!! I get it on Amazon Prime though think they have a website too - and it's quite a bit bigger (and cheaper!) than Revitalash. I'm naturally blonde with blonde lashes and it also somehow tinted them, so I don't have to dye them anymore. My lashes almost reach my eyebrows!

HermioneWeasley · 08/06/2020 16:45

OP, would you consider having your brows microbladed? I love mine

loopylindazdaughter · 08/06/2020 23:33

Revitalash advanced is very very good

Goshthatsmyneighbour · 08/06/2020 23:54

I bought Silly George eyelash serum as it was on offer (about £30?). My lashes grew so long! Actually amazing.

superstar63 · 09/06/2020 11:04

I saw this on amazon, not tried it but seems cheap and has good reviews:
