Anyone used Boob or Bust? This can't be right surely???

Just measured my boobs using the Boob or Bust calculator and it tells me I am a 32H!!! How is this even possible? I'm currently wearing a 36F bra and it's a bit too snug under my boobs so how can I possibly be a 32H?

@KatharinaRosalie I'm an 8-10 on top. But I have broad shoulders and quite athletic now so I have a very strange shape frame iyswim. My tight measurement was 35, my weight was always boob and bum. I've worn a 34 for years on the tighter fitting and that feels comfy to me, but my bra doesn't sit like it does on models, it's quite high at the back which is "wrong". I have bras ranging from 32b/34a but always "gape" at the top (if I lean forward you can see everything). No shops near me do measuring anymore and a 34a in M&S is not the same as a 34a from George etc. It's so confusing!

@CynthiaRothrock do you really measure 35 under your boobs and fit into a size 8 top? Being an A cup would mean being really flat chested, with around your boobs being only about an inch bigger than under.

@CynthiaRothrock

I'm a size 18 and my ribs measure just under 34 so I'm totally brain boggled at a size 8-10 person having a bigger torso than me. Smile

I can't understand how I measure 28 but a 32 feels almost too tight! I think I'd get red marks and be unable to move if I even went to 30, much less 28! So confusing.

I wish lockdown was over so I could get myself properly measured and sorted out. This is annoying in a daily basis!

I can't understand how I measure 28 but a 32 feels almost too tight! Because that's only one part of the measurement. Smile It doesn't really give any indication at all of size on its own. Same as when people say 'oh I have big boobs, I'm a D cup'. But actually a D cup could be one of the smallest bras it's possible to buy, or it could be really quite big.

"I can't understand how I measure 28 but a 32 feels almost too tight!"

A 32 will feel too tight if the cups are too small. If you have bras in a 32, do the backwards band test as I described in a previous post (put bra on backwards and see how far you call pull it out).

If you're a 28, it may feel tight to begin with because it'll be tighter than you're used to, but if the cup size is right it should be a good fit and should feel comfortable. Some bras will be more forgiving in the band. Others might just feel too tight and you might find the sister size (30 band and one cup size down) more comfortable.

I went from a 34C to a 30F - never looked back!

It sounds about right, as when cup size goes up the band size can go down a 32gg and 32b band sizes will actually fit rather differently in the band

I think the thing when you measure is to do so on a full inhale rather than with empty lungs. I find it makes at least a couple of inches difference to me.

When I’ve measured whilst exhaled, I‘ve often ended up with bras that are way too tight and leave really red marks/cause pain. The only exception to this was a Panache bra with a very stretchy band, unusually stretchy.

It makes a difference to the overbust measurement too by the way.

But you gotta leave yourself room to breath.

Ah. Didn't know that about the breathing! Why don't they state that right at the beginning?! Or maybe it's obvious Blush

I wear a 38B. I've just done boob or bust and it's telling me I should be in a 32G?!?!

OP have you tried any on in your BOB size yet to see how it feels?

Mary what top size do you usually wear? 18 or 12? I'm guessing 12 is more like it.

MaryBoBary · 16/05/2020 18:20

I wear a 14

Sorry, got that wrong, they recommend 34 G. I might try 34 F first and just see. Seems bizarre when I've never owned over a B cup! But I've out on weight and have got 4 boobs at the moment so really need to sort it out!

Try 34FF first. Bear in mind that the sizes go 34F, 34FF, 34G, 34GG.

I just buy Molke bras now. Saves all this faff.

@AnotherEmma thank you, I'll do that when I can go and try some on.

Yup.
Went from 32dd to 28ff. That's a fun size to find.
Bear in mind even if you try on a bra in the Bob size, it may not fit. Sizes are not fixed, the same as in clothes shops. I can be anything from a 30e to a 28g depending on the bra.
I hate bra shopping. I'm an awkward shape, hardly anything fits and when it does it invariably looks terrible under clothes.

Inspired by this thread I just did Boob or Bust. I have been wearing 34D for a while but not feeling super comfortable. It's given me 32FF.

Where is good online to buy? I have an M&S voucher and usually get from them (mainly due to lack of other options near me) but they don't stock any in that size. I need padding because I have nipples like bullets. Smile

Boob or Bust has a list of retailers on their website: booborbust.com/dd-bra-retailers/

I swear by Bravissimo, usually go into the shop for a proper fitting but you can buy online too.

Bravissimo isn't the cheapest though and there are online bargains to be had elsewhere.

The first time I did BOB I found bras in my new size like some sort of torture contraption to put on. But they looked so much better. You soon get used to it. A friend told me a bra fitter in Selfridge's said to her that the sizing works better because modern fabrics stretch in a way the fabrics didn't when bras were first manufactured and sizing hadn't been changed since then. I don't know how true that is, but it sounds sensible.

I'm generally a smaller cup size in M&S bras and I have found Debenhams and John Lewis the best places to be able to try a range of styles and sizes to get the best fit.

I like figleaves for bras, they have a good range of prices.
Some of the bras in M&S are great, it's their fitting service that is atrocious. You're better off with your BoB measurement and read the how to fit a bra page in bravissimo.
The only thing with M&S is that a lot of their bands start at 32. Some of their bands do come up small though.
