Sorely tempted to order about £200 worth of Charlotte tilbury make up ... ridiculous as I'm in Scotland and think we'll be in lockdown forever or nice treat?

I prefer Bobbi Brown and if you order from the website they often have extra gifts with purchase, plus 15% off your first order.

Tarte are often on QVC. They were on last night. An eyeshadow palette -neutral tones and a duo of lipstick - a natural one and a more berry one.

I have had their eyeshadows in the past and like them. I also had their foundation which I also liked (it is in a drawer, I must remember to get it out!

Of course the coloours are more muted than CT's razzle dazzle stuff if that's what you want.

Buddyelf · 12/05/2020 17:10

I’m always tempted by Tarte - apparently the shape tape concealer is the best going and some of the eyeshadows palettes and sets look great but I won’t pay the shipping Grin

LycraLovingLass · 12/05/2020 21:05

I love my Tarte eyeshadow palettes, I have about 5 or 6 and they are my most used, I also love their foundations, I have tried 3 and loved them all.

I don't like the shap tape concealer though, I think it settles in my fine lines and looks cakey in my under eye. I am only 34 too so I dont have a lot of wrinkles.

Used a 20% discount to buy some stuff a couple of weeks ago - miracle cream, eye cream, 2 different goddess cleansers and the flawless filter.
Maybe I was expecting miracles but all I’ve got is shiny, spotty skin! Not sure if flawless filter is meant to be a foundation, a primer or what but the coverage is about zero.

MabelMoo23 · 12/05/2020 21:53

The flawless filter is meant to highlight. You can use it as a primer but it’s mainly a highlighter

DKanin · 12/05/2020 22:38

@Fallulah I saw your post and thought I'd mention - I tried the miracle cream a few years ago and it set off a most awful bout of acne that took me ages to get under control. Anyone with oily skin should avoid this cream. I don't know if anyone else has had such a reaction to it as I did but the acne which I'd had under control for years went mental

Also, I don't know if other posters will agree but I think Nars is a very good all round - the powder foundation is great for people with acne (doesn't make it worse) and the eyeshadows and blushers have a lot of pigment. The clear loose powder is very good too.

The Laura mercier photo finish foundation is very good, especially the oil free one for people with acne - mine calmed right down after I started using it. The Laura mercier concealer in a pot is very good too.

I just got the Anastasia Beverley hills contour powder set. I'm undecided so far, but maybe I'm not very good at it, although it seems better than others I've tried.

I liked the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil a lot and I'd really rate the Double Wear eyeliner pencil

Another brand I would say is very overrated and overpriced like CT is Tom Ford. It's horribly expensive and I thought their eye shadows were poorly pigmented, their foundations too oily, the bronzers too orange. However, their lipsticks are especially good.

Some of the other very expensive lines aren't very good either. Burberry was rubbish.

I don't think Mac is as good as it was but the eyeshadows are still quite good.

I think Bobbi brown are pretty decent.

Urban decay and benefit are quite good for powders/eyeshadows but I found Too Faced stuff was awful - shiny and tacky.

I'd really like to know what other posters think about Hourglass as I've been looking at their stuff for ages

I think I spend too much time looking at makeup Blush

Fromthebirdsnest · 13/05/2020 00:13

I don't rate it.personally , much better out.there hourglass, ysl etc.are.both.reliably good for.eyeshadow i.love toofaced and urban decay xx

@DKanin I love my Tom Ford palettes, they are my go to. I think the pigments great in the ones I have. Agree the lipsticks are fantastic
