Sorely tempted to order about £200 worth of Charlotte tilbury make up ... ridiculous as I'm in Scotland and think we'll be in lockdown forever or nice treat?

Iv got the duchess Lipstick and lip liner - amazing stays on for
Hours and so nourishing and doesn't dry out. I have the full fat lash? Mascara - that's crap, benefit all the way for mascara.
I have some chunky eye creme pencil things, CT makes it look
Simple on the tutorial but I don't rate them. Got the Magic Eye Creme - I Like it but probably wouldn't buy it again it's so expensive.
Iv just ordered pillow talk lipstick and lip liner.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 11/05/2020 08:02

I wouldn’t spend £200 on makeup I’ve never tried, don’t fall for pretty photos.

I know, I wouldn't usually but I can't try any just now Sad maybe I should wait til counters open back up again but that could be a long time away.

I have a love hate relationship with CT, there are things I love and things that I’ve been disappointed in. The flawless finish powder is beautiful and for my skin tone the pillow talk liner and lipstick are perfect.
I also have the pillow talk eyeshadow palette. I was disappointed in it. The colours are beautiful and blend nicely but the shimmer ‘pop’ shade is no good. They recommend using your finger to apply (a brush seriously doesn’t pick anything up) but after a few uses the top has started to sheen and now is barely usable. Not worth the £40 at all.

Peonyonpoint · 11/05/2020 08:22

@buddyelf I've had that with sheeny ones, if you can get a wee set of the sponge head applicators (very cheap in boots or super drug, or probably eBay?) they are MUCH better than either brush or fingers for shimmer shades, also less fall out over your cheeks!

daisydaisydoodle · 11/05/2020 08:31

I've had three products from ct and been disappointed. Pillow talk lipstick. I don't get the hype over this. I find the colour too brown and it's not long lasting. Eyeshadow palette doesn't seem to have much pigment to it. Flawless filter was the thing I was most disappointed with. It does very little in the way of highlight or general glowiness. Put me off buying more products

Mucklowe · 11/05/2020 08:35

Greasy overpriced makeup, and Charlotte is notoriously awful to get staff. Avoid!

PseudoCream02 · 11/05/2020 08:36

I've bought loads before and liked it, not as good as MAC in my opinion and most items are as good as cheap ones... But, I have bought the highlighter product you are thinking of Nd liked it very much.

bitofabelly · 11/05/2020 08:41

Hi, I bought the Bronze and Glow in the lighter shade you are looking at. I am blonde and fair..and I would have gone for the darker shade if repurchasing.

What I do love is:
Glogasm in peachgasm and pinkgasm for your cheeks.
Mesmerise your eyes cream shadow in rose gold

The packaging it arrives in is absolutely beautiful..but I agree with others..very overpriced. And the emails...darling this and darling that..can't cope!!!

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 11/05/2020 08:53

I have a berry coloured lipstick called 'Amazing Amal' and I love it. It's definitely my best lipstick in terms of quality, colour, time it stays on for

I hated pillow talk, but then I don't like nudes. I think they are very draining and probably only look good in photos with certain lighting . I see they now have an entire range of pillow talk.

I bought an advent calendar last year or the Christmas before. You should see if there are any left on the website. I think there were 12 products, about half were full sized. There's often a 50% sale on Black Friday, if you can hang on until November !
There was a small magic cream in it.

But otherwise, I think the products are overrated and overpriced. The emails are annoying and insincere.
And maybe it's just me, but I find the models on the ads so unattainably beautiful Shock they must be all fillers and filtered? I don't know, maybe there are human beings who really do like that, but even supermodel Kate Moss for Rimmel is far more relatable, IMO Grin

Roselilly36 · 11/05/2020 08:56

I was looking at this brand, as it looks so attractive, very clever marketing.

Pleased I saw this thread, as usually I wouldn’t usually consider spending this amount on makeup, lock down is getting to me!

So it would have been a big treat for me, I would have been disappointed judging on previous posters opinions.

FredaFox · 11/05/2020 08:59

I saw a lovely Christmassy sparkly palette two years ago, bought it and was so disappointed with it, it's a pricy mistake to make and it's put me off buying CT ever again.
I cannot see the fuss, I've had better from nyx for less than half the price, if you want a good premium brand Tom Ford is My favourite or mid range illamasqua

ClientQ · 11/05/2020 09:00

I love the flawless filter and haven't found anything cheaper that replicates it
Everything else I'm a bit meh over

HailHydra · 11/05/2020 09:03

Absolute waste of money. Emperor's new clothes of the beauty brands.

userabcname · 11/05/2020 09:08

Gosh interesting to read how many don't like pillow talk. It must be colouring- it's the best nude I've tried. Almost the same colour as my lips just slightly darker so defines them nicely.

NotInTheMorning · 11/05/2020 09:10

It can be a bit hit and mix, but I’ve had more hits than misses.I love the eyeshadow palettes, they have really good colour payoff and are easy to blend. The matte revolution lipsticks are really nice, they feel almost creamy once their in and they last well in my experience. I also love the flawless filter, and the bronze and glow is nice for a subtle bronze on my skin tone. Obviously it’s pricy but if you choose carefully I think it’s worth it.

NotInTheMorning · 11/05/2020 09:10

*they are on

And I’m another pillow talk lover! But I’m quite fair so maybe that’s why it suits me.

LycraLovingLass · 11/05/2020 09:12

I have the bronzer pallette you pictured, I also have the lip liner and lipstick and an eyeshadow pallette.

I hardly ever reach for them to be honest. I live the colour of the lipstick but it doesn't last.

The bronzer and highlight is very subtle so I only ever use it when I am faking a no make up day.

Wineloffa · 11/05/2020 09:15

Don’t do it! I fell for their marketing nonsense and splashed out £70 on their Magic Cream which was so disappointing!! So thick and greasy and highly perfumed. Made my eyes water and gave me spots. And the packaging was cheap plastic tat. Honestly, I felt conned. I’m currently using a Lidl moisturiser which is a far superior product!

Wineloffa · 11/05/2020 09:17

If you’re looking for nice eyeshadow, invest in the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Great selection of colours and good quality.

PseudoCream02 · 11/05/2020 09:37

I had the highlighter pallete and liked it, I bought it twice actually as it was good, but it is overpriced and the brush you get with the bigger set - the bristles get shorter as the seem to shrink into the brush overtime which is really annoying. I would spend £200 o a big makeup overhaul once a year, but... that would e on MAC, MAC also do the 'looks in a bag' sets which are far superior in my opinion. I haven't spent that sort of money on makeup in at least 3-4 years though, but if I did it wouldn't be on CT.

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 11/05/2020 09:42

I was so tempted by Pillow Talk at one point, with all the marketing about it being a universal lip colour, you lips but better etc. However, I have managed to resist, mostly because I tried Huda Bombshell which seemed to be a similar 'pinky nude' and it came out straight up poo brown on me, so I imagine pillow talk will be the same and I will be highly disappointed!

Raaaa · 11/05/2020 10:10

I had the light wonder glow foundation, it did jack shit tbh. I got it because my skin is quite clear and it was advertised as a bb/light/natural looking foundation. I have an eyebrow pencil which is good.

Or, trying to be less judgy - consider spending 100 on yourself and giving 100 towards key workers?

I can guarantee you'll feel better about yourself, unless you're a psycho.

dontgobaconmyheart · 11/05/2020 10:24

It's all about the packaging and nothing else. She's made a fortune out of making people think it's a luxury treat basically by whacking it in gold packaging and adding a bit of sparkle and relling everyone various (bog standard) products are 'magic' or 'the ultimate your lips but better' (despite the fact everyones lips are a totally different colour Hmm)

I've not been impressed by what I've bought or been gifted. Other luxury brands are far better quality but obviously makeup is hit and miss. I tend to google whatever item I'm interested in for photos of it on normal humans with my skin type/tone/concerns on blogs, look at swatches, see what dupes there are, see what gets good independent reviews. That's more effective than going into a shop and wiping a bit on your hand anyway IMO.
