No idea where to buy my clothes now Oasis has gone!

Yeah so I’ve no idea where to buy my clothes now. Im late 40’s but can pass for much younger apparently and I’ve always shopped At Oasis and sometimes Warehouse. There is nowhere else to go now. River Island and Top Shop I feel are too young, Dorothy Perkins I don’t find th4 clothes good quality and the same with H&M and primark. I’ve never found anything I like in Zara.
I feel we are left with shops that are either too expensive or too young and bad quality.

Where does everyone else shop?

I'm feeling this too, it's the only shop where the sizing was really consistent. I'm going to scout out John Lewis and eBay.

I’m with you! You could try on something your size and it would always fit. There is whistles but that’s a bit more pricy. Next can sometimes be ok, but very variable. It’s such a shame as oasis and whistles used to do colours and patterns and enable you to feel a bit fashionable. Other things for my age like Mint Velvet are dull, and sea salt and joules now seem to be for the over 60s!

AtTheFootOfTheHill · 10/05/2020 09:37

Their website says "closed for now" or something al9ng those lines. Suggests they might re-emerge

Moodyred · 10/05/2020 10:18

Oasis clothes still sold through Next and ASOS

YakkityYakYakYak · 10/05/2020 10:28

I’m also gutted. They were the only shops that I felt really catered to the 30-40 age range, without being ridiculously expensive. The only other place I tend to find clothes I like, that are decent quality at a fair price is M&S.

Stuffsilver · 10/05/2020 10:45

Have you tried Matalan? I was never an Oasis fan as they seemed to be keen on tagging bits of glitter or oddly placed floral bits on otherwise decent plain items, but Matalan have both of those covered - the Per Una style and the decent basics. They are usually great for summer copies, and their plain vests, shorts, denim jackets, sandals have all been excellent last few years

I thought Oasis & Warehouse were dated and a bit overpriced (everything seemed to be polyester). I'm not really surprised they've closed but it is a shame, I shopped in both in my 20s (I'm 40).

My go to shop is H&M (order online as free delivery/returns and an extended return period). The quality imo is the same as Oasis, and other high street, better than Primark but not as good as higher end high street. They're great for 100% cotton and linen items, have some lovely skirts and dresses in and I love their linen joggers and knitwear, also good workout stuff.

& Other Stories, Hush, Fatface, Gap (for jeans, T's and cardi's), Topshop, M&S, New Look (a lot of awful stuff but some nice skirts and dresses) & La Redoute are the other places I tend to shop.

I agree with a pp that Matalan has Oasis type stuff but cheaper, also Sainsbury's and M&S Per Una.

Mid 40s. Got back into warehouse of late but not shopped in warehouse for years

Cos
Arket
&other stories
Topshop for jeans - still very good for denim
Zara for fashiony bits
H&M but check trend and premium lines for better quality (just add it in the search box)
Whistles and jigsaw for higher end
Look in mango and Massimo Dutti but don’t buy loads

Our age range but not for me
Hush
Mint velvet
Kin at John Lewis - but know some people who work it
Baukjen - but premium
I’m
Guessing you are more formal than white stuff et al

Lots of 40 something plus instagrammers to follow for ideas

DancingMia · 10/05/2020 12:54

Monsoon all the way! I loved Oasis too, but am very happy with Monsoon this year and last. Quality is excellent, fit is good, and often the fabrics are natural and also many are fair trade/eco friendly.

AtTheFootOfTheHill · 10/05/2020 13:43

There's never a shop where you like everything! But I did used to be able to get tops in Oasis, although they liked the old polyester, so I did send a few things back.

Jemimapuddleduk · 10/05/2020 14:26

Sosandar, Boden, hush, Oliver bonas.

Another vote for &Other Stories.

Lovely clothes, made to last.

grownup2 · 10/05/2020 15:17

I wasn't sure about Arket styles but tried the sale and I'm really impressed by the natural fabrics, quality and cut. I'm busty size 16 and the L fitted well. Some brands don't go anywhere near me. Worth a look.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 10/05/2020 15:18

Oasis was few of the high street chains not aimed at teens that did a petite length leg in most trousers. Made getting work things so much easier.

Currently looking through the &OtherStories website, do like a lot! If I wore size 8 in Oasis, would I be 34 in &Otherstories? Or 36?

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 10/05/2020 15:26

FFS you lot! I've found 3 dresses on &Other Stories website that would perfect for evenings on holiday (should we ever be allowed to travel someone hot and sunny again) or putting with flat leather sandals and a denim jacket for lunch with friends over the summer (should we ever be allowed to do that again), or posibly put with smart flats and a little cardie for work over the summer (that I can see being able to do!).

You lot are bad influence! Off to check out other companies suggested...

Delatron · 10/05/2020 15:28

&OtherStories do have lovely dresses! Off to look now!

Trying81 · 10/05/2020 20:41

Gutted about oasis - simply be still has some of their stuff for sale so ordering a few bits while I can

Hairydogmummy · 10/05/2020 22:05

Oasis was my favourite too. Have you checked out Sosandar? I love their stuff. I've bought more from there recently than anywhere else. Also M and S especially limited collection (definitely not per una). I'd also say look again at H and M. They do a higher quality range now which is at least as good as Oasis level quality.

Thanks for the tips @Nads78 , I shopped at Argyll Street a lot and it was a lovely shop.

I am particularly stuck on where to buy jeans now as oasis jeans fitted me perfectly! I tended to buy the Jade or Lily styles, does anyone have any tips on which shops sell jeans of a similar style/fit?

OP I’m checking out la redoute which has some nice stuff. Also agree with the other posters about dresses from & other stories

Amyheadache · 30/05/2020 09:27

Exactly the same I bought so much from warehouse!

I’ve bought a few bits from &others stories and found the sizing a bit all over the place. The baggy style stuff is huge anything fitted comes up small imo. But they have 100 day returns at the mo so at least there’s no panic with that! Things go out of stock quickly and don’t often come back. But they had 20% off dresses a few weeks ago and there’s some brilliant stuff in the sale. 8, 10 and 12 seem to go oos quickly.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by mango. They do brilliant basics/classics.

H&M someone told me a simple rule. If it’s ridiculously cheap it’ll feel cheap. So they have denim shorts at the mo at 9.99 up to 29.99. Don’t buy the stuff at primark prices and you’ll be ok.

I just got a beautiful bikini (for the garden 😂) and it’s feels really expensive x
