No idea where to buy my clothes now Oasis has gone!

Yeah so I’ve no idea where to buy my clothes now. Im late 40’s but can pass for much younger apparently and I’ve always shopped At Oasis and sometimes Warehouse. There is nowhere else to go now. River Island and Top Shop I feel are too young, Dorothy Perkins I don’t find th4 clothes good quality and the same with H&M and primark. I’ve never found anything I like in Zara.
I feel we are left with shops that are either too expensive or too young and bad quality.

Where does everyone else shop?

Ditto! Im gutted they have closed. No advice but will be watching this thread.

cretelover · 09/05/2020 08:54

I'm totally with you OP. The only thing I'd say is give Dorothy Perkins a go the stuff lasts ok. My local Debenhams is on the cull list too :( . Hoping someone can suggest an alternative place to shop!

Everythinginred · 09/05/2020 09:00

Wonder what will happen with all the stock they had? I was so hoping they would continue with their online, but sadly it doesn’t look like they will. I know some company bought the stock and the name but don’t know what they are going to do. If they are going to sell it it will need to be done soon, as it will be spring/summer stuff they will have.

I was going to suggest warehouse as that’s my go to if oasis don’t have something I like! ASOS still have some of their stuff but I’m going to be absolutely scuppered

RebeccaCloud9 · 09/05/2020 09:03

I've just bought some Oasis stuff from John Lewis. Don't know if it'll be there long term but it's certainly there now.

Mightymurphy · 09/05/2020 09:03

I need their lily jeans but can’t get them anywhere.

Kaykay066 · 09/05/2020 09:07

John Lewis(20%off just now), next etc have oasis stock still I bought a couple of things I had wanted but am a bit gutted re the shops too. I don’t mind buying online but I liked to look in the oasis stores too. Not sure it’ll survive online only. I tend to go between oasis, ted baker, joules, fat face & white stuff so it’ll be a big loss as I really like oasis. Dorothy Perkins is a bit crap, fabric and cut not great but occasional surprise. Nine by savannah miller too is nice I’m sure something else will replace oasis but sad it’s gone

Everythinginred · 09/05/2020 09:08

TheGirlWhoLived Warehouse have gone too (cries). I have had a look at John Lewis etc and there is a couple of things but not much. It’s a real shame they have gone

I am looking on the warehouse site regularly hoping it will restart ! Would you believe Laura Ashley used have the f a b odd item. Ted baker is expensive !! Im liking fatface online now and bought a couple of things in the white stuff sale. I hope they survive. I go to a little boutique too. A little more expensive than Warehouse but fab different stuff so i would check out local shops too. You might be surprised. Still tho i am gutted over Oasis and Warehouse. Monsoon in the sale can be great too but was there in March and didnt like any thing. Been on the brakeburn site and nice too. I would just so love to shop in a shop!! Was saying to DH the best thing about going to our local SC was meeting pals for coffee. You can't do that id say for a long time !

Dollywood · 09/05/2020 09:19

I was looking at sainsburys clothes and it seemed like they were selling some of the Oasis brand.

Hollydog11 · 09/05/2020 15:19

Oh i am the same dilemma. I am 46 and recently lost 2.5 stone and discovered oasis last year and loved their clothes. Classy, stylish and a great fit. I am gutted.
I have decided i am going to try to buy from independents more now. Just bought 2 gorgeous t shirts from Etsy.
Just signed up to Mango emails and Hush (seems gorgeous but expensive)
I also follow parttimeworkingmummy on Instagram and she gets loads of stuff from small businesses. Made in Snetty and Hari and the Gang have some fabulous bits.
Going to follow this thread with interest

Delatron · 09/05/2020 16:50

I’ve been ordering quite a bit from Mango lately? Similar price point.

Delatron · 09/05/2020 16:50

I also like &Other Stories?

peachypetite · 09/05/2020 16:52

Mango, it’s one of the few places you can get cotton and linen for the summer instead of god awful polyester

Bunionbandit · 09/05/2020 18:35

I am a warehouse fan too & very sad to see it go, but I also find some really nice clothes in M&S on a regular basis, nice linen tops & great jeans.

Thinkle · 10/05/2020 08:02

Have a look at Uniqlo. It’s a bit 80/20. I.e. 80% meh and 20% wow, so you have to have a proper look. The quality is really very good for the price. And I find the “look book” bit helpful for explaining how to style some of the otherwise plain looking bits.

cretelover · 10/05/2020 08:47

Is uniqlo online only? How are the sizes are they similar to oasis do you know?

AtTheFootOfTheHill · 10/05/2020 08:52

Yeh it's a shame, I am 50 but I always had a look in Oasis on line. I love fashion and dress appropriately so I wouldn't have gone for everything, but there was always something I liked at a reasonable price. Surprised that Oasis has not survived but all of the other smaller more expensive lines have (so far?!). Like Whistles, Jigsaw, Cos. I like those shops and would have a look but rarely bought anything as the prices were double.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 10/05/2020 08:57

@Delatron - what's &OtherStories sizing like?

I'm also feeling upset at the loss of Oasis, it was good for slightly smarter fashionable bits that I can wear to work/casually, without spending a fortune on something I know would only be 1-2 seasons wear.

An insane amount of my wardrobe is from Boden these days, but it's good quality but mumsy, so liked being able to mix in some less frumpy stuff that wasn't designed for someone 6 foot tall.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 10/05/2020 08:58

Oasis has gone!? (am overseas)

BobbinThreadbare123 · 10/05/2020 09:09

La Redoute has a lot of Oasis and Warehouse comparable stuff. I've never liked Oasis (too flowery for me) but my sister is gutted at their demise. I do like Uniqlo - there's a few shops in London and one in Manchester if you want to check them out, but they do free returns and the sizing is consistent. &OtherStories is absolute tat - I went in the Manchester shop and was very surprised at how much polyester with crap stitching there was. TBH I will probably continue to get work clothes from Sainsbury's - they're better quality than a lot of the stuff in the actual clothes shops.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 10/05/2020 09:09

sadly yes, they and Warehouse (same owner) have gone into administration. Hoping someone buys them and keeps the same feel to both.

Delatron · 10/05/2020 09:15

@DisgruntledGuineaPig &OtherStories sizing is true to size. I often order online and service is good. I find it a bit more inspiring than some other brands!

Thinkle · 10/05/2020 09:30

@cretelover Uniqlo has a quite a few large London stores but I’m not sure beyond that. Online they have a tool for what size to buy for each item based on a few factors, I’ve always found this accurate.

kitschplease · 10/05/2020 09:31

dorothy perkins and sugarhill brighton, depending on budget!
