So, I'm umming and aahing....please can you let me know; if you have purchased one if it is worth it? Are they worth the money? Tips? Pros/cons pretty please! I'm dark haired, medium skin tone, not hugely hairy) Tia x

Definitely worth the money. Absolute game changer for me.

Be prepared for a lengthy process although I could see results after the second use. Stick at it.
The hair growth definitely slows down and in some areas seems to disappear.
Follow the instructions but it's really easy to use and is not painful. You just feel a small zapping sensation.
If my one packed up tomorrow, I would buy another to replace it in an instant. It's that good.

wellerhugs5 · 08/05/2020 18:38

Thanks for replying! I've just placed my order and I'm up for the challenge. It's great to hear it's worked for somebody (and that you'd replace it!) Grin xx

I’m currently 3 treatments in and am noticing a difference already (and I was very hairy!) The best thing is my face: I used to have to pluck my ‘tache every day and I’ve barely had to do anything to it since the second fortnightly treatment.
BUT: one things really concerns me, which is that a couple of small moles on my arms have changed slightly since I started using it. Could just be coincidence but it really has only been in the past few weeks and it’s the only thing I’m doing differently (no sunbathing, etc). Would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this...

georgialondon · 08/05/2020 20:25

You shouldn't use them on moles!

I love mine

MrsMaryBOOface · 08/05/2020 20:57

Do you have to shave/pluck/trim before using? And do you :horror: have to let the hair grow before using it, a bit like waxing??

MehMehMeow · 09/05/2020 00:34

You need to shave before using the lumea, and no you dont need to let hair grow.

I’ve got PCOS and brought it for facial hair. I’m underwhelmed so far. I used it for three months but didn’t see much of a difference. I’m giving it a second go during Covid but still can’t see much (any) difference. I’m pale with very dark hair

JanewaysBun · 09/05/2020 09:50

I love mine so much!! 3 months in and a massive reduction. I have the corded br1923 model.

Has anyone had this though (had it today) - I think it over heated and it stopped being on a single number and kept flashing through the numbers 12345? I switched it off and on and that didn't help so I switched it off for a minute and it was fine.

Also can I use it on varicose veins?

In general LOVE it. Am so addicted to zapping myself

CallMeThePooPatrol · 09/05/2020 19:13

I ordered the BRI921 on Wednesday directly from Philips. Reduced from £300 to £250. They cancelled it with no explanation yesterday! It’s now full price on their website. I’m so cross!

Viviennemary · 09/05/2020 19:16

I've got one. Had it about two years. IT worked brilliantly then I got a bit lazy and didn't keep it up. Thinking about laser. But begrudge the money.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 09/05/2020 19:18

I'm tempted, is it ok for the bikini area? I never get on with shaving but hair grows thickly there and I'm thinking the £35 a month I spend on waxes, this could pay for itself in a year... Also could do with it for the tash.

OhCantThinkOfANewName · 09/05/2020 19:46

@MehMehMeow I’m with you, using it on facial hair (chin) and have done 3 treatments and noticed no difference. I’ll continue going for the time being...

Fair skinned and dark hair.

paininthepoinsettia · 10/05/2020 01:44

Do you have to have dark hair for this? I'm sporting a lovely peroxide blonde tash with a little beard coming through.

GreenTulips · 10/05/2020 01:52

Look up discount codes, I found a 15% off which is similar to advertised discount.

Also try the price runner type sites, price difference is amazing.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 10/05/2020 07:13

Can you use a lumea on your ahem undercarriage?

QualityFeet · 10/05/2020 07:44

Do they do anything to bonde fuzz or white bristles?

forrandomposts · 10/05/2020 07:56

To answer a few questions - I use mine in my bikini area and undercarriage! Though be warned as one of the side effects is skin damage and I now have brown skin spots down one side of bikini line Hmm

I find it has made a big difference but not hair free. I use if in legs, bikini and underarms and while all hair now grows back slower and softer, it's still patchy on legs and still there completely underarm, and that's after a year.

Justabadwife · 10/05/2020 08:03

i love mine.

I've gone from having to shave my legs every other day in summer to just shaving once every 2 weeks (the day that I laser)

I'm chunky fat so it takes me quite a while to do everything, but it's completely worth it. 😃

DinosApple · 10/05/2020 09:13

It's brilliant. I've black hair and very white skin and it's worked great. My legs last about 2 weeks, my under arms are smooth for days (used to get a 5 o clock shadow!)
And all the hair grows back slower and thinner.

It didn't work for my mum though, she's I'd say medium olive skin tone - kind of Mediterranean looking (although she's from India) with black hair.

pepperpod28 · 15/05/2020 13:17

@forrandomposts get yourself a bottle of the ordinary niacinamide for your dark spots. I had horrible dark skin on my inner thighs and used this twice a day for a few weeks and it disappeared. It's quite cheap so if it doesn't work for you it's no big loss.

I've just bought myself the lumea cordless BRI953 because I can't be arsed with my epilator any more. Very excited to get it!

UpToonGirl · 15/05/2020 13:24

I love mine. Best thing for me was going on holiday last year, I shaved on the first morning then only had to shave pits once or twice, legs and bikini I didn't need to even think about! Because I wasn't shaving my legs everyday I actually managed to get a tan for the first time ever.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 15/05/2020 13:40

Curious to know if it works on ginger/auburn body hair? Everything I read is either dark hair or blond hair but I have neither. Some of my body hair is very fine and blonde but I do have darker, more ginger hair too and I’m not sure if they are dark enough to remove.
Are there any fellow ginger (body) haired people out there that have used this and had results?

TheFlis12345 · 15/05/2020 13:54

It doesn’t work on ginger or blonde hair I’m afraid, it works by finding the dark pigment in hair and they don’t have enough.

TheFlis12345 · 15/05/2020 13:56

I got my Lumea about 5 years ago and can honestly say it is life changing. I used it religiously every fortnight for 10 weeks, and then all the hair was gone, and it never grew back! I get the odd couple on my legs every few months so I just blast those as and when I need to. My underarm hair hasn’t grown back at all.

Lottapianos · 15/05/2020 14:09

I'm underwhelmed too. Fair skin and dark hair, so was expecting great things. It has made a difference in that I have bald patches on legs and underarms where hair seems to have stopped growing, and the hair overall is generally finer than it was, but I still need to shave regularly. I am in the minority though, most people seem to love it

MehMehMeow · 17/05/2020 22:13

@OhCantThinkOfANewName I’m translucent pale with dark stubble that a boy band member would be proud of but still sprouting. my eyebrows are patchy and would be grateful of the hair growth my chin proudly displays.
