I'm trying to slim down my beauty & makeup collection & buy less but buy better.

What products do you love & always come back too?

This is my list

Skyn eye patches
Guerlain bronzer
Mac lipsticks
Khiels olive conditioner

Nars Concealer
Becca undereye

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2020 16:33

Sunblock 🤷🏻‍♀️

citygirl1961 · 07/05/2020 18:34

Boobmoob@ just interested I am thinking of doing the same. Are you thinking of buying less but better quality of make up, skin care and hair care etc or just one category?

I only ask as I am tempted to stick with my Clinique make up which I love and feel better using but think in that case I'd need to cut down on skin care, hair care etc.

boobmoob · 07/05/2020 18:44

@citygal1961 across all categories really although I don't buy anywhere near the amount of make up & nail polish I used too.

So in theory one mascara instead of 5 or 1 shampoo I really like as opposed to what's on offer & I end up with a load of half used bottles I don't really like. Doesn't have to be always the most expensive option just a good option. I'm going to try the Ordinary & I've used expensive moisturiser before & not been particularly impressed.

@boobmoob, thanks for this. So for instance, I love Clinique foundation, eyeliner and lipstick but find cheaper blusher and mascara OK. I also like salon shampoo and conditioner and Liz Earle cleanser so would you class all that as extravagant?

emsyj37 · 07/05/2020 18:54

Aldi Caviar moisturiser
The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc serum - has made a huge difference to my skin texture
Nars orgasm blush
Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation
Anastasia Dip Brow

These are the only 'staples' that I repeat buy. Everything else, I've always got my eye on the next thing. I've tried dozens of foundations but seem to always come back to Double Wear.

DaftSkunk · 07/05/2020 19:28

Only one I've discovered so far:

Nars Sex Appeal blusher - perfect for pale skin.

Still on the quest for everything else!

mummillion · 07/05/2020 19:33

Glossier boy brow
Benefit roller lash

timetest · 07/05/2020 19:38

Benefit Bang mascara.
Ultrasun tinted sunscreen
Kerastase shampoo and conditioner

Hoohaahoo · 07/05/2020 19:40

Well mine was the bourjois foundation Sad
If anyone knows of a similar product I’d love to see it. I’m running low on my last bottle

RogueV · 07/05/2020 19:58

Nars creamy concealer

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/05/2020 21:07

Repeat purchases?

Liz Earle C&P
Vichy Vit C serum
Clinique quickliner for eyes
Dior Pump n Volume mascara
Astral and Nivea

Things that I'm trying for the first time but will be repeat purchases:
Bobbi Brown corrector
Bobbi Brown nude illuminator
Bobbi Brown serum foundation.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery serum

I splurged on those just before lockdown and this week started playing with them...have had 8 video conferences over yesterday and today and just kept looking at my skin and thinking "oh I look all lovely and glowy" Grin

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/05/2020 21:08

Hoohah- Sali Hughes says the nearest thing to Health Mix (if it was that one) is Mac Face and Body.

I forget to add No 7 Hydraluminous. I have stockpiled it already.

lokoho · 07/05/2020 21:15

Purito SafeSun 50+

boobmoob · 07/05/2020 22:52

Not extravagant at all @citygirl1961

OP posts:
EasyPleasey · 07/05/2020 23:01

Estee Lauder advanced night repair

EL foundation

Urban Decay eye shadow palettes

Nars Orgasm blusher

TerrorWig · 07/05/2020 23:26

I'm trying the same, but I have rosacea so I need something.

I'm enjoying Mac F&B foundation, Glossier stretch concealer (a surprise win for me!), Glossier cloud paint, and mascara. Erborian BB cream if my skin needs it. Lips I prefer lipbalm. I'm trying to cultivate a very natural look!

I have so much make up it's shameful. Easily two bags under the bed Blush.

JessicaDay · 07/05/2020 23:26

Have spent the last five or six years doing lots of experimenting and now pretty much everything is a regular repeat. The only thing I need to find is a translucent powder.

Unless something gets discontinued or there’s some new miracle ingredient for real, I think I’m good for five years anyway. Fingers crossed.

headlock · 07/05/2020 23:49

I'm going to miss borjouis foundation and eyeshadow, wish I had stocked up.
I once used aveda shampoo and conditioner and really liked it. It's next on my purchase list.
I find no 7 translucent powder good.

SophieGiroux · 08/05/2020 00:14

The best powder was Corn Silk, still can't believe that's gone. I do still have one sealed box left and tempted to eBay it for the amount it sells for these days!

acatnamedfox · 08/05/2020 00:24

Better than sex, mascara - Too Faced
Squalane cleanser - The Ordinary
Dip brow pomade - Anastasia Beverly Hills

(I used to love double wear este lauder but I recently swapped to the Too Faced, born this way as it’s vegan and a little kinder to the skin! Can really recommend to DW lovers!)
