I'm trying to slim down my beauty & makeup collection & buy less but buy better.

What products do you love & always come back too?

This is my list

Skyn eye patches
Guerlain bronzer
Mac lipsticks
Khiels olive conditioner

I've just discovered facetheory and I bloody love it

Gastropod · 08/05/2020 06:15

Bourjois eye primer. Knocks every other eye primer I've tried out of the park, and lasts for ages.
(You can get Bourjois products on Amazon...)

boobmoob · 08/05/2020 08:28

@Jessicaday You are where I want to be!

Very few repeat purchases as I like to try new things. However, I only buy John Frieda Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner, and despite trying many many others I always return to Max Factor Masterpiece Max mascara and Maybelline Hyper precise pen eyeliner

titsbumfannythelot · 08/05/2020 08:47

I bought bourjois healthy mix foundation on amazon if that helps anyone. One gets delivered every other month.

PersonaNonGarter · 08/05/2020 09:04

For hair - Toni & Guy Smoothing Spray

TeddyIsaHe · 08/05/2020 09:09

Primark’s 3 in 1 eyebrow pencil with powder and a spoolie. It is hands down the best eyebrow product I’ve ever used and is £3. Counting down till they reopen so I can stock up.

Tweak’d Peaches and Cream hair cleanser. Got it in a QVC beauty bag thing and I adore it. Bought bottles of the stuff.

Loveacuppa · 08/05/2020 09:15

Second vote for the Ordinary niacinamide + zinc serum - I will buy that forever more. Also their squalene cleanser, daily moisturising factors moisturiser, and their serum foundation.

Hair - plantur 39 brunette (because I am old with greys to be blended)

Microzilla · 08/05/2020 09:17

Mine are:
Aphogee 2 minute keratin hair reconstructer.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wizz pencil.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body lotion (the only thing that has sorted out my dry, flaky elbows after trying everything over the years ).

Flexitol Heel Balm (only thing that keeps my heels smooth and soft).

Clarins BB detox fluid - waiting for it to come back into stock . Long lasting, natural looking, flattering and easy to apply.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Full hairspray. The only thing to hold my thin, fine hair in place

dementedma · 08/05/2020 09:24

Bloody hell @jessicaday. Where on earth do you keep all of that?

BBTHREE76 · 08/05/2020 14:01

Tigi catwalk violet shampoo and conditioner - this has kept my grown out streaks and horrible roots less “obvious” looking during lockdown.
Clinique Nude POP lipstick - this matches any outfit and whatever makeup I apply

DukeOfEarlGrey · 08/05/2020 14:43

I have also been honing hard over the years! I think this list is quite personal because of skin type, hair type and colouring of make-up, but here’s mine:

Eve Lom cleansing balm
Dermalogica gentle cream exfoliant
Chantecaille gel foundation (the price really pains me but I can’t better it!)
Nars liquid concealer for under eyes
Elizabeth Arden gel blush tint
Mac mineralise pressed powder
Becca highlighting powders

@boobmoob The footfile I use about once a fortnight. Skin needs to be dry (I.e. before bath/shower/foot soak not after). Use on heel, ball of foot and toe pads. Sit down, put down a tissue or piece of kitchen roll under my foot then just rub file over the hard skin, bit like filing nails. Just takes a minute, although it was a bit longer at first. Then follow with either a foot soak or a Superdrug footmask (they’re like socks) & nail shiner/dadi oil for nails.

@dementedma I have one of these in the bathroom. Top drawer make-up, second drawer skincare, third drawer body & toothcare, bottom drawer hair care & sanitary items. It fits behind the door in an awkward corner, it comes up to about waist height.

Massive beauty junkie here, it's rare that I ever finish anything let alone repurchase! But these are all things I've bought and used up time and again:

  • MAC Lip primer
  • Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets (off Ebay, they are amazing if you have oily skin)
  • Chanel liquid concealer
  • Armani Maestro foundation
  • Chanel waterproof eyebrow pencil
  • Paula's Choice BHA liquid and AHA serum
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush pressed powder
  • By Terry Baume de Rose lip balm
  • Laura Mercier eye base
  • Smashbox Photo finish Light primer (another classic for oily skin)
  • Hourglass Ambient lighting powder in Dim
  • Chanel waterproof eyeliners
  • Clinique High Impact mascara
TerrorWig · 11/05/2020 00:01

I’m changing my mind. Have been conducting some trials with my make up and the erborian bb cream is the best thing I’ve ever used. Doesn’t need powdering, doesn’t transfer AT ALL and didn’t rub off on my nose where my glasses rest.

Just looked amazing.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 11/05/2020 21:56

Bobbi Brown bronzers. I have a few.

saucyspice · 11/05/2020 23:16

Rimmel exaggerate liquid eyeliner
Bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base
Paulas choice perfecting liquid

sniffysnuffler · 11/05/2020 23:35

Spent years experimenting with expensive products and this is what I've settled on:

Apricot kernel oil (I use it as a cleanser and also sometimes under moisturiser)
Nivea Creme (at night)
Superdrug vitamin E day cream (the non SPF version, I don't use chemical sunscreen)
Think Sport SPF 50 cream
Collection volumising mascara
Collection clear mascara (for brows)
Collection kohl pencil
Collection liquid eyeliner pen (this brand does such great value make up!)
Bourjois Healthy Balance powder
Not fussy about blusher but don't like powder - sometimes just use lipstick! Usually No7 stick blusher
Vaseline (for lips)
Coconut oil (usually hair, occasionally skin)
Knights Castile, Pears, or Johnson's Baby soap

And ... I get my brows microshaded. Only extravagant thing I do, beauty-wise! If you're considering it I definitely recommend microshading rather than microblading but that's another thread ...
