Anyone want to share a pic of their nail varnish?

I’m about to buy some new nail varnishes but am undecided on what colours/makes you go for.

Essie are the best I've found. Shiny finish and last well without chipping.

I love Chanel colours but they chip ridiculously easily. Same with nails inc.

Patsypie · 06/05/2020 22:10

Chanel are terrible for chipping. The best ever is OPI. Base coat of nail envy, 2 or 3 coats of polish then quick drying top coat. It always lasts a week at least. I'm trying to decide a colour to do them now. I love reds so will probably do Big Apple Red.

TerrorWig · 06/05/2020 22:29

If you are happy spending money, Essie and OPI are consistently good. So are essence which you can be from Wilko, but not as good colour selections.

I’m currently wearing OPI Endless Purple Pursuit which I got from TK Maxx. Some good deals and they’re online shop is open again now.

Nails Inc are also fantastic, I rate their Nail Caviar as the best topcoat ever. Doesn’t shrink like others, particularly Seche Vite which is terrible for that.

Also often on offer in TK Maxx!

I bought Dior glow recently and love it! Not a coloured varnish but does make my nails look very healthy

Picassosdove · 07/05/2020 06:44

I decided I would like to paint my nails as I have more time. All my old neglected polishes were gloopy so have chucked them and am trying several from Nailberry (vegan, supposedly breathable polish). I became aware of the brand after seeing them featured in the latest John Lewis beauty box, which sold out before I could get it. It's my birthday so treated myself to a dark pink, dark red, navy and blue grey. Can't comment on longevity yet as so far have only done toes with 'raspberry' which looks great. Very happy with the colours, though.

I like OPI best as it dries very quickly, then Nails Inc, good coverage but dries slower. I don't really find any ssues with chipping as I put several clear layers over the top to finish which stops that, and evens out the colour of even the cheapest nail polishes.

I found a No.7 nail polish in a deep red the other day, remember whne they gave £5 off No.7 vouchers with purchase and everyone spent the on nail polishes? I ended up with a few. They are awful in coverage, takes forever to dry but with a bit of patience and several topcoats turned out really nice and lasted ages.

First photo of french tip (grown out a little now) is OPI for the tips and Nails Inc for the neutral base. Second photo is the No.7 deep red, which I love but I wouldn't buy again due to how long it takes to dry and then all the top coats needed.

I've not had any problem with Chanel chipping- I have a red one which is my favourite and I'd say it lasts longer than any of my Essie ones. It can depend on colour though- I have an Essie coral colour and it chips awfully compared to other shades. I'm going to do my toes in pink tonight - need a serious pedicure first though!

berrychakewellplease · 07/05/2020 13:25

OPI - goes on brilliantly. I am rubbish at nails and usually go to salon. Can just a out do my own toes and am sporting opi red. Also love big apple red. Use the Kensington caviar nails inc top and base coat.

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 07/05/2020 14:04

Thanks everyone, will definitely be ordering some OPI.

What websites do you all buy yours from?

essie fishnet stockings always wear that, with a seche vite top coat

all nail varnish chips on me, i think i have oily nails

ChameleonCircuit · 07/05/2020 14:43

My favourite is a-england. I love holo colours.

sunflowery · 07/05/2020 15:54

I wear Essie Ballet Slippers 99% of the time. I’m not very creative with my nails but I love it - just looks clean and natural.

sunflowery · 07/05/2020 15:55

Oh and I just get it from Asos as I have premier delivery anyway!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 07/05/2020 18:52

I like Essie and OPI, and always use Essie Good to Go quick dry top coat. It's really hard to take a pic of your own nails, I'm wearing Essie's Brazilliant.

Love Essie. Have been wearing the following shades over the past few weeks: angora cardi, drive-in and dine, chinchilly and cool merino.

I’m in Chanel Horizon Line. I don’t find Chanel chippy at all, but I do use an Essie topcoat. My hands are disgustingly dry and red with all the non stop washing, apologies!

Make is essence.

Bertucci · 07/05/2020 20:53

I am wearing an Essie dark blue one atm. Can't be bothered to go and look at the bottle.

I love Essie. I must have 30 of theirs. It lasts until I remove it - usually about 2 weeks.

Bipbopbee · 07/05/2020 21:04

Another one for Essie too. I’m wearing Mint Candy Apple and Cut Above Pink glitter on third fingers.

TerrorWig · 07/05/2020 23:16

Essence is really really good, Indian Summer is a particularly nice coral-pink.

totallyoverthisnow · 08/05/2020 00:40

Love Essie, my favourite colour is Ladylike, naked nails at the minute but if I remember I’ll do them and take a pic tomorrow

Patsypie · 08/05/2020 00:43

Leighton Denny is great but I don't think it's still going. The brand did drops called 'As Good As New' which revive gloopy polishes. I've got the the bottom of many polishes through these drops! Ps don't try to use nail varnish remover. It thins the polish but ruins the shine.
