My aim is to be 14st by end of July.

I'd like to buy a motivation dress to try on every month and hopefully fit in.

My first goal is 14 stone.

So what size are you at 14st

RosesandIris · 05/05/2020 16:22

I would have said size 18

Soontobe60 · 05/05/2020 16:34

I think your desire to lose 3 stone in 3 months is both unrealistic and destined for failure long term. No doubt if you drastically reduce your calorie intake you'll lost the weight, but it's just not sustainable.
In regard to dress sizes, I've been a size 16 with a stone difference in weight over the last couple of years.

You should think of losing weight the same as setting a savings goal. If you aim to save £100 a month but only have a spare £100 you'll fail if anything crops up, so instead, you're better saving a smaller amount to guarantee success. Aim to lose a couple of pounds a week, which is very doeable, and you're much more likely to succeed and maintain the loss.

NerforMuffin · 05/05/2020 16:38

I'm doing exante.

It's on average a stone a month.

I'm not interested in people's opinions on that, apologies if that sounds harsh, but I'm an adult doing something many people have done. VLCDS are a valid way of losing weight as long as you address the issues of weight gain alongside them and plan for the long term once the weight is lost.

I'm 5'4 and I 'd be easily a 20 at that weight - am an 18 at 12.7.

CaptainBrickbeard · 05/05/2020 17:48

It’s so impossible to say! I’m 5ft 6 and 14 stone 12 right now. I have a dress in a size 14 that is pretty roomy and another dress in a 16 that’s tight. I have jeggings in an 18 that I have to wriggle into but pyjamas in a 16 that are falling down loose. Sizing is kind of meaningless, it varies so much!

RosesandIris · 05/05/2020 19:05

It depends a lot on shape and where you carry it. Also bust size.

TileFloors · 05/05/2020 19:17

I’m 5’5 and three years ago weighed 14 stone. I was a size 18. I’m busty and a bit apple shaped. Now I weigh 10.5 stone or a bit less and am a size 10-12.

LittleMissBrainy · 05/05/2020 19:22

Wowsers! I've only got 1/2 way down and this thread really does show how ridiculous women's clothes sizes are doesn't it? And that's not even starting on the individual shops!
FWIW OP, I'm 5'5" and about 12 stone and have just bought a pair of size 16 Joules shorts, they are a little loose, but I wouldn't have got in the 14's.
However, I've put on quite a bit of weight during lockdown so I'm still using last years clothes which are mainly 14's, and even a pair of size 12 NEXT shorts! 🤦‍♀️

Why can't women's sizing be easy?

originalusernamefail · 05/05/2020 19:27

I am 5'4" in and currently an 18 at 14.10. At the start of lockdown I was 16.3 and just about to see the wrong side of 20. Good luck with your diet OP.

shinynewapple2020 · 10/05/2020 17:10

It depends on your body shape and how much muscle: fat in your body make up.

I'm 5'4" : at 10st 8 I'm a 14, at 11st 5 I'm a 16.

Therefore I would need an 18 or 20 at 14 stone but you may have a completely different shape to me

BeFire · 10/05/2020 17:22

I'm 5'4". At 14 stone I'm a 14, 12 stone a 12 at 10 stone a 10 Grin never managed to test what I'd be at 8 stone.

RosesandIris · 10/05/2020 23:00

@TileFloors

How did you lose the weight?

managedmis · 10/05/2020 23:03

At 14st I was a generous 16, an 18 in River Island (back in the day I.E 1999)

I'm 5'5

cansu · 10/05/2020 23:05

realistically size 18. It is surprising I think how much you have to lose to go down these sizes. I was in a size 20 at 16 stone and am now a comfortable 18 at 14.7. I expect to get to a 16 by about 13 to 13.7.

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/05/2020 23:07

I'm just under 5ft 6 and at 14 stone I'm around a 16-18. I have big boobs though (would be about 36F at that weight).

AnxiousElephant77 · 10/05/2020 23:10

I would say 18.

NerforMuffin · 11/05/2020 00:43

@Soontobe60 just to let you know I've weighed myself and am 10lbs down already :)

OP posts:
susandelgado · 11/05/2020 00:51

I'm a 20

NerforMuffin · 11/05/2020 00:54

It's so odd.
I'm a 20/22 now Susan at 17 St.

GrimDamnFanjo · 11/05/2020 01:04

Take your measurements .
There's research to suggest you will lose about an inch from your waist for every 10 pounds you lose.
So work out approximately what the weight loss will be in terms of inches when you reach 14 st. Then compare the waist size with the dress size.
It's impossible to be precise about sizing when a size 18 can be between 35 and 40 inch waist size depending on the brand!

LonginesPrime · 11/05/2020 01:13

It really depends, OP. I've been a size 14 at that weight (I'm slightly shorter) but that's with lots of weight training.

It depends on what body shape you are too and where you tend to carry your fat - obviously a pear shape is going to fit a smaller-size floaty dress than an apple, even if they're the same weight.

drigon · 11/05/2020 01:33

I'm a touch under 5 5 and at 14 stone was an 18. Miserably 15.5 now and a 20.

Luaa · 11/05/2020 11:15

I am 5.5 and now 16st, size 18. But when I was 13st I was only down to a 16. As I lose weight my clothes size don't seem to change much.

Megatron · 11/05/2020 11:51

When I was 14 stone I was an 18. 13 stone a 16. 12 stone a 14 - not sure about 11 stone hopefully I'll let you know sometime! Grin

MitziK · 11/05/2020 12:56

First time round, I was a 16.

Next time, I was an 18.

The third time, when I lost a fair bit to get back there, I was a 20-22 bottom and a 12-14 top with a giant gap at the back, as the loose skin at the front made anything that fitted my legs or my natural waist far too tight to get on.
