10 Fragrances for Life

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2020 12:03

There's a popular Youtube video called the above and I thought it would be fun for us to list our all time favourite perfumes.
I was thinking about this as I was going through a memory and found an old diary from 10 years ago of my favourite perfumes and it hasn't changed much at all!
I also would love to read everyone's lists as with lockdown, I'm really missing smelling new fragrances in department stores - spring is usually a big launch time and I can easily lose an hour immersed in the fragrance halls! Instead I'll go down a Fragantica rabbit hole!!

So my !ist is as follows

  1. NR for her EDT - my absolute favourite. all year round
  2. D&G Light Blue Intense. S/S
  3. Tom Ford Neroli Portafino. S/S
  4. Chanel Chance. S/S
  5. Stella McCartney Stella. Summer
  6. Agent Provacateur Maitresse Spring
  7. Floral Street Ylang Ylang Espresso A/W
  8. Replica By the Fireplace A/W
  9. Gucci Rush A/W
10. Nina Ricci Bella S/S

A fragrance I'm dying to smell as it featured in so many of the YT videos is Marly Delina - does anyone have this and if so, do you think I would like it based on my list?

Jean Louis Sherrer number 1. Very difficult to get hold of these days but heaven in a smell when you do!!

Lincsvip · 19/05/2020 17:58

I have three that I rotate, Ck one and Elizabeth Arden sunflowers from when I was a teenager and Lacoste pour femme that feels relatively new But I’ve been wearing it almost fifteen years! I know it’s not a perfume but I really miss Impulse O2

Lweji · 19/05/2020 18:01

For me, but I'm not a perfume person,
Noa by Cacharel
Nomade by Chloe
CK1
1881 by Cerruti

Don’t think I have 10 must haves so I will start with the must haves and then the list might drift to the love but won’t die without

  1. TM - Angel (all year I love it people generally recognise this as the scent I wear most often)
  2. Dior - poison girl unexpected (more of a daytime fresh feeling scent)
  3. Givenchy- l’interdit (tried a sample and had to buy it because I absolutely love it)
  4. Good girl - Carolina herrera
  5. TM - alien fusion
Anything below this is love but non essential
  1. Actually nearly all the TM range
  2. Dior - j’adore
  3. Nina Ricci - Luna
  4. Pack rabanne - Olympea
10. Prada - infusion rose

I'm not a huge perfume fan as most of them either give me a headache or make me feel nauseous. But the few I have discovered I do like are:

4711
Chanel No. 5
Jo Malone Orange Blossom
Jo Malone Lime (and something - Basil? Rosemary?)
Penhaligon's Amaranthe
Dyptique No. 34 Boulevard St. Germain

Back in the 70's I used to love Eau Jeaune which was very lemony.

I only have a bottle of 4711 at the moment as the others are really spendy and I've received as gifts in the past but can't afford to replace currently.

Benjispruce · 19/05/2020 19:01

Chanel no 19
Chanel Cristalle
Clarins Eau Dynamisante
Gucci Envy- discontinued
L.I.L.Y Stella McCartney -discontinued
Armani-She

Wild Musk- still love it
Muguet - Lily of the Valley
Nenunco - Spanish Cologne - still love it
Eau Fraiche it was in a green bottle - French. I can't remember who made it. Still love it.

Live way fraiche! Always buy a bottle when I’m in a French supermarket, doesn’t last long though.

Greenpop21 · 19/05/2020 20:48

Anyone remember Soft Talk from Miss Selfridge in the 80s?

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 19/05/2020 20:57

If you want to disappear down a massive rabbit hole of perfume appreciation, take a look at www.fragrantica.com/

You can search by ingredient, or look up your favourite perfume & it will recommend others that you might like. Just reference, not a shop.

Over the years I've worn:
Chanel - No. 5
Lush - Karma
Chanel - Coco
Lagerfeld - Sun Moon Stars
Cacharel - Lou Lou
Lancome - Tresor
Mugler - Angel
Calvin Klein - Eternity
Lancome - Magie Noire
Giorgio - Beverly Hills

LadyEloise · 20/05/2020 09:30

@IndieTara
Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien is a beautiful lemon scent.

I wonder do Perfume Parlour do a dupe @CanterburyWhales ?

Greenpop21 · 20/05/2020 10:27

Who stocks Annick Goutal?

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 13:51

@LadyEloise having just googled it I think that one will be out of my price range!

LadyEloise · 20/05/2020 17:03

IndieTara a brand called Just Jack do great dupes of Tom Ford. I get the lovely citrus one in a turquoise bottle Neroli. A dupe of Ford's Neroli Portofino
Sorry I can't do links but if you google it, it will come up.

Annick Goutal is a lovely lemon scent. You could save up ???

LadyEloise · 20/05/2020 17:16

@IndieTara the website is makesscents.ie
They do Jo Malone dupes too under the Jenny Glow brand.
I get the Just Jack fragrance in my local pharmacy in Ireland.

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 20/05/2020 17:18

You can get Jenny Glow on Notino.co.uk

Very good, cheap Jo Malone dupes in big bottles.

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 17:18

I've tried the Tom Ford Neroli and don't like it. It starts off lemony then turns musky on me
