Can you tell me - what is their sizing like, and are they the kind of brand where a style is for one season and then replaced, or do things come back?

Ive never bought from them before and I’ve spotted a coat that I think is just what I need and a style I’ve not seen quite the same elsewhere. It’s pretty much sold out (understandably for a winter coat as it’s May!) and not available in the colour and size I think I’d want. Any chance it will return this winter?

They will probably bring back something very similar, they don't change their styles or range too much.
Sizing wise, I think they come up pretty true, maybe a little generous. Depends on the give of the fabric really.

RagamuffinCat · 01/05/2020 09:16

It will probably come back in a different colour next season. They tend to change the patterns and colours between seasons, but not the style, which makes ordering from them easy. Their sizing is slightly on the big side. I find their clothes last a long time too, and are good quality. One of my favourite companies.

PurpleDaisies · 01/05/2020 09:16

I’ve got a few bits and pieces. I’d say sizing is quite generous. I buy my normal size and the fit is on the baggy side.
The same sorts of pieces do come back regularly.

Lolalovesroses · 01/05/2020 09:19

The sizes are true to size/generous rather than small.Try this code, it's meant to get you 50% off online. BLCB176U9

I buy a size smaller than usual for the jersey stuff as it comes up big. The linens, cords etc are truer to size. Coats too, never too small but just roomy enough for a sweater under a winter style.
They’ve stopped doing the cropped jeggings I liked but apart from that things do tend to come back season after season.

Orchardgreen · 01/05/2020 09:29

They change details in the styles according to customer comments.
The coats do come back every year, often in different colours.

The dresses change slightly each season. Eg, same body design/shape but maybe different length sleeves or different neckline. I’m not much of a dress wearer, but these are great for various occasions. I bought one to wear to my mother’s funeral, because it was pretty enough to wear any other day.

TheVanguardSix · 01/05/2020 09:30

I love their clothes. I only have a few bits but I love them! I have the Janelle coat, which I adore. It's truly water proof! First time for me. It's my dog walking/everyday coat- works in winter, works in spring. The quality of their clothes is excellent.
The fit is a roomy-true to size. Not baggy or bulky. I don't know about trousers. I am 5'10" and I am afraid they'd run short on me. I haven't tried. Just jumpers and coats, which have been perfect.
I love the colours and quality.

MandosHatHair · 01/05/2020 09:30

I haven't bought anything this season but I have always found thier dresses to be very generous.

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/05/2020 09:32

Thanks all. So could possibly size down? I’m usually a 12 but oddly both my current winter coats are a size 10. Could possibly get a 10 and still fit a jumper under? I’m pregnant at the moment though so wary of trying to guess what size I’ll be come winter.

This is the coat, and would like this colour (though wouldn’t be a deal breaker) I’m generally a bit of a boho-y, long dresses sort of person and really struggle with waterproof/hooded coats that work with my style and this looks like it might just go.

The navy would be nice too

@TheVanguardSix ah glad to see this coat is loved!

I buy quite often from then - their sales have really good discounts.

I think the sizing is true/generous, their styles are quite loose cut anyway.

Also, if you have mobility/joint/arthritis issues, lots of their new clothes have little hidden loops inside to help you get them on easily.

Orchardgreen · 01/05/2020 09:39

The Janelle coat is going to be my next dog-walking coat

Orchardgreen · 01/05/2020 09:41

They are very good about returns. Also v helpful on the phone, although they may have reduced staff on the line. ( I was going to say skeleton staff but thought it sounded tasteless)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/05/2020 09:45

I love my Janelle coat but I'm not a fan of sea salt clothing really. I have the purple one. I have an 8, it's roomy, whereas I'd say in clothing I'm more like a 10. I can wear a thick jumper under mine and it still fits comfortably. It really is windproof and despite being very lightweight it is warm all winter.

ducksback · 01/05/2020 09:48

LOVE Seasalt! Gorgeous and great quality. I find the sizes fairly true although they do not make 'tight' clothes anyway.

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/05/2020 09:49

@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds like a 10 might be right then. I’m short so proportionally it likely to be roomier on me. Which is in stock in that colour... hmm. I might be bigger by winter though and that would be annoying!

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/05/2020 09:51

They have a popper adjustment on the back as well so you can tighten/loosen. If you're normally a 10-12 I'd try the 10, you can always send it back.

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/05/2020 09:54

@thenewaveragebear1983 I’m usually a solid 12. I’m only 5”2 so fit often different to taller women. I want it to be long though. Seems a bit odd to buy a winter coat in May, if the style is likely to come back perhaps I’ll wait. Will give it down thought Smile

LesLavandes · 01/05/2020 11:56

Read the reviews. They will help enormously. I am a size 10 but needed a 12 in a summer dress. Later upon reviews, bought another dress size 10 and it's too big

WrinklesShminkles · 01/05/2020 12:59

One thing to note about their reviews is that they sort them so the lower ratings come last, and I don't think you can change that. It's annoying as less positive reviews are often quite helpful. I'm a loyal customer of theirs - this is the only thing I'd change about them.

ArkAtEee · 01/05/2020 13:06

I am a similar size to you, OP. I would order your normal size, I don't find them excessively small. The arms and length are long on me, I've had them trimmed off for t-shirts.

I think Next and maybe John Lewis resell Seasalt, might be worth a look?

Potionqueen · 01/05/2020 19:27

If you’re only 5ft2ins they do a petite range too. I buy quite a lot from Seasalt as I’m a shortie.

MaudesMum · 01/05/2020 19:35

I love their waterproofs - during the long wet winter I wore one of theirs every day, and it never leaked. If I wanted to put a jumper under I'd probably stick to your usual size and not try to size down.

happysunr1se · 01/05/2020 19:40

Never bought any clothes from them, but their socks are the best, particularly the bamboo ones!
