False eyelashes

Last year I put up a post asking for help for self tan for the uninitiated and it was great - I've really enjoyed looking slightly tan for the past year so thanks!

I'd really like to try false lashes, and lockdown seems a great time to make a fool of myself and practice applying them, seeing how long they'll last etc.

Can you let me know what you get? How long it lasts etc? What do you do on a night out? Take glue with you?

A breakdown of False Eyelashes for Dummies would be fab Flowers

I really don't want to get semi permanent ones as I rub my eyes a lot when I'm tired (or allergies)

I’ve been trying Lola’s lashes which are magnetic. Prior to this I had used false lashes once and had found one started to peel off mid wedding (not mine). I’ve actually worn a pair of the magnetic ones at work!

Livingoffcoffee · 01/05/2020 10:53

@Thinkle are they the magnetic eyeliner ones? Or ones that connect to each other?

Thinkle · 01/05/2020 11:47

The eyeliner ones. I did try the other ones to be honest but because it was lash on top and bottom it was too much.

GloGirl · 01/05/2020 14:44

I tried some cheap magnetic ones I couldn't get on with them. The eyeliner ones sound really interesting! Which ones do you use?

Lolas lashes

Roomba · 01/05/2020 15:54

Reading with interest as I've never managed to successfully apply a pair of lashes! Last time I tried I glued my eyes shut Grin I've watched many YouTube videos explaining how to do it, but I always end up with them halfway up my eyelid on one side!

GloGirl · 01/05/2020 17:50

How did you manage to unglue your eyelashes? Shock

Do you need the special magnetic lash cleanser @Thinkle ?

I’ve got a bottle of oil to remove the liner. Can’t remember if it was part of the kit or an extra but it works well!

CadburysTastesVileNow · 01/05/2020 21:18

I received my Lola's Lashes on Monday and hey were in the bin an hour later.

GloGirl · 01/05/2020 22:31

Oh no how come?!

Be careful with the magnetic ones. I'm sure I've heard that the tiny magnets can migrate into your eye! I'm trying to train myself to wear falsies too. The main problem I'm having is getting the inner corners to stick down!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 02/05/2020 07:59

I too tried Lola's lashes. Great idea in theory but bloody hell- that eyeliner is so damn messy- it ended up smearing over my cheeks as its very black and thick and runny. Then you have to use the oil to get it off. Very disappointed- i havent got time to mess aorund with that every morning.
I've been using 4D mascara instead and thats fab

Mumsnut · 02/05/2020 09:47

Snap!

Mumsnut · 02/05/2020 09:47

And the lashes didn’t stick to it anyway

fairway21 · 02/05/2020 12:31

What 4D mascara would you recommend please?

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 02/05/2020 20:20

And the lashes didn’t stick to it anyway

No- they bloody dont! they used to be skin the middle but curl up in both corners.

What 4D mascara would you recommend please

I'm using one called AsaVea 4d silk mascara from amazon but there are lots of different versions if you search 4d silk mascara. I have found the trick is to put it on after my normal YSL mascara (the shock)- it builds the lashes up until they look enormous, you can see them from space!
I like it because I cant use those fibre mascaras with the little fibres as they come off and go in my eyes but this works spectacularly!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 02/05/2020 20:21

Ok not skin

fairway21 · 02/05/2020 21:09

Thank you Alexis

MiniChoc · 02/05/2020 21:11

following. I can't seem to do it. They're nowhere near my lashes and look obviously fake. I can't get them to glue down. I WANT TO MASTER IT!

Mikki2019 · 02/05/2020 21:14

I use false ones loads (and used to have infills )

False ones - trim them first to fit your lash line !

First put some mascara on your own lashes

Apply the glue to the false lash and let dry for 30 secs

Stick on at base of your lashes

You can use tweezers or your fingers

YouTube it if unsure

It’s mega easy and you can reuse them a lot

Mikki2019 · 02/05/2020 21:14

The key thing is to let the glue dry for 30 seconds BEFORE you stick the lashes onto your own

bingowingsmcgee · 03/05/2020 09:15

Mikki what tool do you use to get them in the right position?

Anthilda · 03/05/2020 09:50

@bingowingsmcgee you can use a cotton bud. I dampen the bud with my mouth (enough to seal the fluff but not soaked) and that's what I use, along with tweezers.

Mikki2019 · 03/05/2020 09:54

@bingowingsmcgee I just use my fingers but you could use tweezers if you aren’t too nimble of finger
