Where has Blistex Intensive Moisturiser gone?!

Hi,
I've used Blistex Intensive Moisturiser for donkey's years, but can't seem find any either in shops of online?
Anyone know where is good to try - it's the intensive one, not the relief cream...
Any help appreciated!

This is the best lip balm of all time. I’ve tried everything and always suffered from dry lips. With this I apply once daily and my lips are perfect!

There's some on Ebay but it's expensive (because of postage). Loads of Blistex an Amazon but not sure if it's the exact one you're looking for? Also showing up as "stock coming soon" at Boots - £2.69.

It's really annoying when a product you've come to rely on disappears!

MrEzraGoldberg · 26/04/2020 13:05

Sorry, you said not the relief cream. Bugger Sad

homemadecommunistrussia · 26/04/2020 13:14

I normally get them in bodycare, are they still open?

homemadecommunistrussia · 26/04/2020 13:16

Looks like no. Sorry.

MiniCooperLover · 26/04/2020 13:17

I haven't found any in the supermarkets for ages and in Boots it's usually stocked with the face creams rather than lip stuff oddly

justaperson · 26/04/2020 14:02

Thanks all. I hope it hasn't been discontinued.

Don't suppose anyone can suggest something similar? I usually find most lip balms too greasy or else they wear off to quickly but Blistex seems to soak in nicely and not need re-applying.

I love the pots of daily lip conditioner (cream colour pot not the blue) but it seems to be discontinued as it’s even disappeared off the blistex website.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 26/04/2020 17:11

The Blistex daily lip conditioner is fab! I ordered a few off amazon as it’s hard to get, have used it for years

Drinkandknowthings · 26/04/2020 17:24

I still have a few tubes lying around the house. I know I got it at an airport in January.

poshme · 27/04/2020 06:59

I feel your pain OP. I agree its the best stuff there is & ive been trying to get more for ages.
Now rationing my last tube carefully.
Sad

StealthPolarBear · 27/04/2020 07:08

Oh no, I'm almost out and planned to add it to my next shopping list.
I get those cuts in the corner of my mouth, if I apply loads of this and leave it overnight they're so much better by morning.

TrixieMcMinx · 27/04/2020 17:32

I too am a Blistex Intensive Moisturiser advocate and am also at a loss as to what to do. Boots and other online stores say it's no longer being stocked. The best we can hope for is that they're rebranding it. The only place I've managed to find it was the last two tubes in Tesco near me (South Wales) a couple months back. This may not help as with Covid-19, you may not be able to get to a store to buy it (if they even have it) so I think we may just have to try a different brand. I've tried two other products they have and they both have menthol and cloves in so it wasn't as good and tasted gross when I licked my lips. I'm having to go back to the days of Vaseline lip tins and sparingly using my Burt's Bees stick.
I'm going to see if there's a way to get in touch with the company and ask them directly what is happening.
My husband always told me I'd be pretty useless in a zombie apocalypse as I couldn't cope without my Blistex for my lips and my Soap & Glory Hand Food for my hands. Well I've shown him!....as long as I have Vaseline for my lips aaaand my Hand Food, so far, I'm good Wink

TrixieMcMinx · 27/04/2020 17:48

P.S. Just looked on FB and someone had been in touch to say they were sorry there'd been a lack of stock here, it was due to a "delay in production and stock will be filtering back into stores in the coming weeks".
Has anyone tried the Carmex tube? Might be worth trying in the mean time. Looks similar to the intensive Moisturiser.

inwood · 27/04/2020 17:52

That blister is the only tuff I can use. I have used the relief cream when I haven't been able to get it. Carmex etc just seem to make me need more of it, they don't sink in and actually moisturise.

Onacleardayyoucansee · 27/04/2020 17:56

Burts bees is ok, doesnt make lips worse.
Same with okeefes.
Different to Blistex as you say, needs re applying.

Carmex and most others including vaseline exacerbate my dry lips.

justaperson · 28/04/2020 18:19

Thanks @TrixieMcMinx I really hope they will restock! I'd also be useless in the apocalypse without some sort of lipbalm!!

I've tried Carmex and it's a bit too zingy and doesn't stay as well.

Also tried a Nivea pink tinted stick (I forget the name!) and that, if anything, just seems to need constantly reapplying and leaves my lips drier after a while.

I might give Vaseline a go but usually it's a bit gloopy and also annoying to have a gakky finger after smearing it on!

Lansinoh is quite good.

poshme · 30/04/2020 09:03

I tried some boots posh no 7 protect & perfect Lip balm yesterday that I'd been given in a gift set. Little tube- not too bad though doesn't taste as nice.
Creamy like the blistex. Absorbed nicely.

justaperson · 30/04/2020 16:32

Thanks @poshme that sounds worth a try!

@Blahblahblahyadayadayada - is Lasinoh the nipple cream?! I might give that a go but not sure I'd want to be putting that on in the office!

OP posts:
Feedingthebirds1 · 30/04/2020 19:16

A very very close dupe for the Blistex is Nivea cream - the original thick white cream in the blue tub. Like Blistex it soaks in easily and keeps the lips moist for a long time.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 30/04/2020 19:45

@justaperson, yes it is the one in the purple tube. You could just save for home use or squeeze some into a Vaseline tin and fool everyone. It works well.

Chuchyduck · 04/05/2020 14:57

I love the intensive one in the metal tube as well as the ordinary ones in the plastic tubes, so I understand as I always used to have to have lip balm on me at all times. I’d often get painful cracks at the sides of my mouth, which were lovely, like mini mouths. But my addiction to lip balm has been cured by putting diprobase on my lips.i don’t know if you’re supposed to do this, but my lips have never been better and I much prefer it to lip balm. All my lip balms are now redundant The only bad part about it is that it’s far to big to fit in my pocket! I tried it as I was at my wits end and haven’t looked back.

Keknight91 · 07/05/2020 01:44

DDD Limited, the UK manufacturer of Blistex, has gone into administration. Last i saw on the administration report on their companies house website, is all Blistex shares have been sold back to Blistex Inc (so their american HQ). Based on this I will assume blistex is out of business in the UK for a while, assuming they even decide to find another UK manufacturer. They might decide it isn't worth the hassle. I'll be gutted also if they don't!!! @justaperson

justaperson · 07/05/2020 09:05

@Keknight91 noooooooo!!!

That's not good news at all, I hope they will find someone to take it on in the UK :(
