I don't want to go back to foundation

Loving the non makeup look but feel I need something to look polished when the time comes to go back the office.

I am a YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint devote (b40) but it just seems way way too much now. What's the middle ground for pale but uneven tone skin?

I've been using Lily Lolo mineral foundation for around 9 years. Has pretty decent coverage and stays put really well. It looks best if you don't apply it too heavily.

I've had so many people say my skin looks like porcelain whilst wearing it. I find the shade Blondie is really good for paler skin with a neutral undertone.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 27/04/2020 17:40

@TinkerPony I've been looking at that Misshapen BB cream too, its on look fantastic if you're after cheaper shipping.

bettybea · 27/04/2020 19:21

If you use a setting spray or a water type refreshing skin spray lightly over the Lily Lolo and buff with a large brush it gets rid of any caking.

It works better with a glow/hydrate type spray than a matte one eg Urban Decay All-nighter not the right texture but the Revolution Glow Fix great.

bettybea · 27/04/2020 19:21

The Avene water mist works well too actually!

Ladyglitterfairydust · 27/04/2020 21:44

I’ve just ordered Bobbi Brown serum foundation as an alternative to heavier foundations. It’s really lightweight and gives just enough coverage to feel put together.

Break free! Why insist on forging your own manacles? There is nothing wrong with how your face looks.

Chouxalacreme · 28/04/2020 18:15

Benefit poredessional is perfection for me

DagenhamRoundhouse · 28/04/2020 18:53

Boots No.7 HydraLuminous foundation is nice and light and gives good cover. Calico is a pale shade.

Bilbettabloggin · 28/04/2020 20:13

I have just hit the wrong side of 50 and found foundation or Bare Minerals wasn't doing me any favours. I have fallen in love with makeup again having discovered Trinny London. Their BFF Cream and Just A Touch are game changers for that no makeup but polished look. No more old lady clumping round those fine lines. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Shallistayorshalligo · 28/04/2020 20:58

The best thing I can suggest is Dr Perricone Md Tint moisuriser. It is such a fanatic product. It is not a foundation, but Pigmented day cream. It does make your skin glow. Absolutely amazing

agteacht · 28/04/2020 22:18

Have just ordered Erborian thanks to this thread!

Inexpertjuggler · 29/04/2020 01:14

I used to use touché eclat, but have now discovered Chanel’s equivalent product eclat lumiere. It’s a finer texture. That and a touch of their bronzer is lovely. They also do a very sheer foundation, aqua something- lumiere maybe? For a touch extra coverage

EarringsandLipstick · 29/04/2020 08:00

Great suggestions here, noting with interest!

On the fake tan for face, any recommendations? Wear a No 7 gradual tanner throughout the year (I'm not that happy with it but it's affordable) & have used Isle of Paradise tan drops, which are raved about in beauty columns but I didn't really find great either!

I've very pale skin, so need something subtle, but it just helps to take the 'half-dead' look off me! I wear make up generally but like above, wear less in summer & use a tinted moisturiser (No 7 usually).

agteacht · 02/05/2020 13:24

A huge thanks to those who recommended Erborian BB cream. It came today and I LOVE IT.

I've never been able to find a BB cream or foundation that gives the dewy look. Amazing!!

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 03/05/2020 12:36

@agteacht I'm thinking of ordering, what colour did you order, what's the texture like? I'm finding foundation ageing and chalky.

notinthislifetime · 03/05/2020 12:51

Fake tan for the face. I always do this every summer.
Which would you recommend?

DameXanaduBramble · 03/05/2020 12:56

I’m with you, op. With a slight tan I’m wearing hourglass loose powder, nars browning powder with nars orgasm blusher over the top for a bit of colour. I’m using by terry Baume de rose on my lips in a light pink/salmon and a wash of bronzey, sandy eyeshadow from naked 1 palette. I’d love to achieve this look all year round, i feel its really ‘me’.

DameXanaduBramble · 03/05/2020 12:57

Bronzing, browning powder sounds like bisto!

agteacht · 03/05/2020 12:59

@KellyMarieTunstall2 I ordered Clair on the basis of a recommendation here as I have Irish skin. It's perfect!

No not flakey etc at all. Light and dewy

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 03/05/2020 13:01

Following this thread with interest, working on repairing my skin and reluctant to go back to full face again.

noyoucannotcomein · 03/05/2020 15:17

Just ordered Erborian Clair after the recommendations here. Fingers crossed. Thank you!

MistyMinge2 · 03/05/2020 18:06

I stopped wearing foundation last summer. I haven't got the best skin in the world, but I feel like the older I get, the more I prefer a natural look. I use Ren BB cream. I bought it after I was sent a tester with some other stuff. I haven't used any other bb cream so can't compare, but I really like it and my skin has been so much better.

Minesnotahighhorse · 03/05/2020 19:10

Another vote for Erborian BB cream as a saviour for slightly blotchy pale skin over 40. It feels light as a feather and gives great coverage while still giving a dewy glow. I got a sample with a SpaceNK order and bought it almost straight away.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 03/05/2020 19:52

I’ve stopped wearing foundation recently in favour of a corrector for my under eye circles then a concealer where needed and blended in.

I use the Charlotte Tilbury vanish corrector and then the Glossier stretch concealer all over

olivehater · 03/05/2020 22:02

As others have said tinted moisturizer/skin perfect/bb cream is the answer.
I like Trinny London bff at the moment. It just gives my skin a sort of glow and has spf 30. When I want a bit more coverage I mix a drop of my nice (NARS) foundation in with it.
