Just wondering if anyone uses tinted moisturiser all the time and not foundation and what the difference is,

@SpeedofaSloth try bare minerals complexion rescue.

browzingss · 23/04/2020 07:02

I don’t, only back in school when we weren’t allowed to wear makeup!

Aside from my under-eyes, my skin is pretty good, so don’t have a use for tinted moisturiser as it wouldn’t help my under-eyes. I’d either leave my face bare (with skincare on) or just put foundation/concealer on to hide my problem area. You can get different coverage foundations, doesn’t have to be matte or cakey

AnnaNimmity · 23/04/2020 07:06

yes I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. I had a flirt with foundation recently as the formula for the LM stuff changed and went orange, but I don't really like such thick coverage.

Laura Mercier has changed it's formula again (thank fully) and I use it all the time. I'm 49 - my teenagers love it too.

MynameisJune · 23/04/2020 07:12

Another NARS tinted moisturiser here too. Don’t have time in the morning to do a full male up routine this gives me a nice finish with minimal effort.

wildflowersandweeds · 23/04/2020 07:20

Did everyone who uses NARS get a colour check done in store? I'd like to try it, but am struggling to work out which colour to use. Any freckled red heads using it?

LadyGAgain · 23/04/2020 07:21

Please do invest in a decent SPF you can wear under your makeup. So many foundations etc come with SPF 15. We should be wearing 50 on our faces (and yes you still tan) to prevent premature ageing. I know all the brands market their "contains SPF 15" which is fine in winter but not ok for our current sun and definitely not summer.

Wildflowers try shade Finland

Tarararara · 23/04/2020 07:30

I don't own foundation. I use Nivea Daily Essentials Tinted Moisturiser Day Cream, and have done for about 20 years! I apply it like a moisturiser and rub in. Evenings out, I might top with Bare Minerals powders if I think I need more coverage under the eyes, or to keep it mattified.

I think the difference in look between the two is that tinted moisturiser looks entirely natural - I guess it depends on how your skin matches the shade (which is down to luck) but even up close, peering in a mirror, it's impossible to see that I am wearing anything. Whereas I can always see if a friend is wearing foundation. I do sometimes think that my friends, with their visible foundation, look more 'polished' and 'out-out' of an evening than I do (i.e. look like they've made an effort, which is nice for the recipient of that effort) but its been so long since I've worn foundation I'd feel really caked and uncomfortable.

I'm on the hunt for one. From someone who has spent YEARS hating her freckles I'm now loving and wanting to embrace them! Will try out Laura Mercier when lockdown is over or Glossier skin tint looks good too.

I've had Mac Face and Body but I think I wasn't colour matched properly as I hated how it looked on my skint, I think it was too dark.

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/04/2020 07:37

Laura Mercier is the one I use to let my freckles show through, they haven't appeared yet this summer due to lockdown (I'm exercising in the evening). I use Ultrasun face underneath it from about March to October.

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/04/2020 07:38

Spring I mean, it feels like summer at the moment.

Madamswearsalot · 23/04/2020 07:40

I use the Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser and thoroughly recommend it. I like a lighter coverage - it does just enough to make my skin look better without the problem of product collecting in the pores on my nose. I don't find it sticky at all.

zippyswife · 23/04/2020 07:57

I wanted to try The Nars tinted moisturiser before lockdown and didn’t get round to it. It’s quite pricey for me so I don’t think I can risk a punt on a colour.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 23/04/2020 07:57

I’m pale (and skint) and use collection primer instead. It’s nicer than any tinted moisturiser I’ve used.

lotusbell · 23/04/2020 08:30

I've always used the Nivea one, can be a bit orangey so needs blending well. I did try a same if the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue and really liked it but can't remember what shade it was and there are a lot to choose from. Have seen a lot of threads on here about tinted moisturisers, and what seems to work for some doesn't work for others but can be quite pricey to find out

TuscanGreen · 23/04/2020 09:21

I don't use foundation it looks very artificial in me. I use Clinique CC

dazzlinghaze · 23/04/2020 09:21

@wildflowersandweeds and @zippyswife I matched myself using findation.com. You put in what shade you are for other foundations/tinted moisturisers you use and then they tell you what shade you'd be in another! The shade it gave me was perfect.

zippyswife · 23/04/2020 09:35

@dazzlinghaze ah brilliant I didn’t know about that. I think I’ll give this a go.

MynameisJune · 23/04/2020 10:15

I got my NARS from SpaceNK and they will do a colour match where you put in what colour you are for other brands and then it matches you to the closest shade.

BeaLola · 23/04/2020 11:46

I use Chanel Les Beiges - has built in SPF and I like the colours which suit me - I like the Les Beiges range in general

For those wanting to try I think Bobbi Brown does exchange on foundations if wrong shade ? - may extend to tinted moisturiser ? Hopefully someone will know for sure

BaconAndAvocado · 23/04/2020 13:35

I LOVE the IT Cosmetics CC cream. It has a lovely finish and good coverage.

I've just bought the Revolution dupe for £10. ( I think the It one was £36)
Revolution is definitely thicker, more of a foundation I would say and you don't get the dewy finish that you get with It.

But it's actually ok and I'll definitely use it.

Darklane · 23/04/2020 14:11

Is there one fir very pale skin?
I’ve previously bought the Bare Minerals one in Opal & the IT CC one in Fair but they are both still too dark.

lindyloo57 · 23/04/2020 17:09

I use a tinted spf a boots or no7 one, you can put a small amount of a mineral powder over the top to give a little more coverage.

Chochito · 23/04/2020 17:58

I have dry skin, which is the best tinted moisturiser for light, sheer coverage?

timetest · 23/04/2020 22:10

I use a tinted sunscreen by Ultrasun wait a few minutes then use serum and moisturiser on top. It looks quite natural just that little bit better than totally bare skin.
