Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

👋

Charles and Camilla sent a private video greeting to Queen Margrethe.

Ninkanink · 19/04/2020 14:14

I really liked the genuine affection in those messages to the Queen. It speaks volumes about the personal respect people have for her, outside of her royal standing. I especially liked the way Carl emphasised, dear godmother. Victoria, too, was effusive and affectionate in her message. But the families are very close, of course. Sonja, too, is very friendly with Margrethe and they holiday together fairly often, and I thought she was quite emotional when speaking. Max and Wax come across really quite fun, don’t they. Interestingly, Letizia had a difficult time matching her facial expressions to what was being said - she was smiling away brightly when Felipe was solemnly discussing the coronavirus crisis. That is one thing that sociopaths/individuals with antisocial personality disorder often have a hard time with - they have difficulty displaying accepted and expected emotional expressions. Kinda goes together with the ‘dead behind the eyes’ look I have noticed in her, and might explain why people in Spain apparently don’t like her very much, in the main. Not that I’m diagnosing of course, but it did stand out like a sore thumb on the video. You should’t really be grinning away when your husband is discussing something serious like that.

PinkSun9 · 19/04/2020 15:37

@Ninkanink,
Gross exaggeration re Letizia's expression.

Ninkanink · 19/04/2020 15:43

your opinion is your prerogative, of course. As is mine.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/04/2020 17:56

Just saw this shot of Kate on IG. I think this is how her hair looks without products or a professional blow dry. This is pre-kids though.

I love that photo of Kate, it’s always been a favourite of mine. To me that’s her core personality right there.

@paradyning I saw your 👋 to me on the last thread about a week later (because of my self-imposed ban I wasn’t in the habit of checking the thread much), and then I did that awkward thing of thinking how silly it would look if I waved back at that stage, so after much deliberation I decided not to...and ever since then I’ve been doing that really awkward thing of feeling like I was really rude...I’ve clearly got issues. 😆 anyway, here’s your 👋 back!

thisenglishlife · 19/04/2020 18:35

Kate's hair is naturally straight or minimally wavy?

Ninkanink · 19/04/2020 18:38

It had probably been rained on, on that photo with the curls. Or it was particularly humid that day. Happens to mine too, even though it’s minimally wavy if i wash and dry it.

justasking111 · 19/04/2020 18:47

I had hair like Kates, very thick with a natural wave, a beast to dry and style, took forever.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/04/2020 18:53

That photo was on their South Pacific tour so she was probably dealing with high humidity.

I have hair extensions, they were due to be replaced the day we went into lockdown, I’m amazed they have lasted so long and don’t appear to be dropping out anytime soon, so It is perfectly feasible that Kate’s have lasted as well if she has them, which I think she does.

paradyning · 19/04/2020 20:36

No worries Nink!

Pupsiecola · 19/04/2020 22:27

I saw William and Kate on that tour, at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. We were living there at the time. They were about 6ft from me. It was amazing and a little odd to see such famous faces 'in real life'.

I have similar hair to Kate. As just says, it's a beast to dry. I've enjoyed not bothering during lockdown!

theschoolonthehill · 20/04/2020 00:11

Compare Kate’s hair in the photos of her at uni. It is half the volume! There is only so much a good stylist and curly blow dry can achieve. What she has now is her own hair imo but her big hair was ridiculously big at times and a far cry from her natural hair. She ditched the extensions and started Botox. I think in her circles (and not only because if the intense scrutiny she is under), that Botox is as common as getting a manicure!

Looking at the montage of photos of Kate you posted, I bet the little girl on the bottom right never envisaged she would marry a prince and how her life would be. Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/04/2020 09:49

Looking at those photos I think Louis is very much like little Kate. Charlotte is all William and George is Pa Middleton to a T. Hopefully he's inherited his grandfather's hairline too!

Princess Louise of Malaysia has added a few pictures from their wedding and wedding anniversary on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/B_J0xfjp6cb/?utm_source=ig_embed

latedecember1963 · 20/04/2020 10:15

I was drawn to the photo on the bottom right of the montage too. There's something very endearing about her expression. As you say, LadyEloise, who could have imagined how her life would turn out.

Ninkanink · 20/04/2020 10:18

@latedecember1963 what a fantastic username! One of my most favourite songs. 👍

Laiste · 20/04/2020 10:26

The bottom right photo looks alot like my eldest DD when she was that age. She also looked/looks the spit of Emma Watson.

latedecember1963 · 20/04/2020 10:27

Tenuous link to Royalty, but I watched the Downton film over the weekend where a chunk of the story centred around a visit by King George and Queen Mary. I hadn't realised one of their daughters was married to the family from Harewood House. The impression given was that it wasn't a happy marriage but that they were expected to keep up the show. I visited Harewood with my parents at the height of it's "Brideshead" fame but as a bored teenager didn't really take much in about the history of the house/ family.

mrscampbellblackagain · 20/04/2020 10:50

It is interesting as suspect that Kate's generation is possibly the last where marrying a Prince was seen as a wonderful thing.

I would not want it for my daughter.

I do think it was all very different before social media. The more we see of the RF the less we seem to like them Wink

mrscampbellblackagain · 20/04/2020 10:51

Actually, I am older than Kate and wouldn't have wanted to marry into the RF. Maybe it was Diana who was the last time we bought into the fairytale and we all saw how quickly that fell apart.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/04/2020 11:05

@latedecember1963 I visited Harewood last summer, it's beautiful there. There are a lot of Lascelles and the Earl and his brothers seem colourful characters!

Thank you, Ninkanink. 🤗
I do remember it being a beautiful place, Queen, and that it was a hot summer's day.
We stopped and had tea in a Little Chef on the way home which was a real treat. I'm definitely going to read up about the family this week.
