Well they met in London when she was an au pair and he was studying. So say for sake of argument 20 and 32 years old? I dunno, that age difference to me is large, ten years later it feels smaller IYSWIM - 33 and 45 feels ok. But they've clearly known each other for a long time before getting married, which is reassuring!

BlingLoving · 22/04/2020 13:20

@LadyEloise There's a ridiculous fictional novel in the cock-buster genre that is a thinly veiled fictionalised account of modern royal families. We've discussed it on here a few times. I didn't want to rehash old chat so OLD TIMERS, FEEL FREE TO SKIP THIS POST! Grin

But basically, in the book, one of the story lines is clearly around Albert and Charlene. In the book, she agrees to the wedding originally, I think IIRC, having been convinced that he really loves her etc etc. Then she finds out the truth that he's not nice at all and, I think, gay (it was a few years ago, the details are unclear) and tries to run. Only to basically be kidnapped and forced to marry him.

In the same book, Princess Diana faked her death and is living in luxury but mostly self isolation somewhere in the middle east (I think).

And there's a memorable, and disturbing sex scene with a banana, kate and william.... Grin

*Actually, I didn't read any more of the author's books after that. I started reading the next one but it just didn't sit right for some reason as the themes were just irritating and I hadn't liked the thinly veiled/real people thing of the royal book. Pity as I enjoy a good cock-buster as much as the next person usually!

BlingLoving · 22/04/2020 13:22

@banivani - doesn't she have a degree? So one assumes she was au pair after that? But yes, I agree - age gap would have been more disturbing in the beginning that it is now.

But also, the way it's written about, it sounds like they met but in the info I saw there's a sort of implication that perhaps they weren't dating at the time? Who knows.

LadyEloise · 22/04/2020 13:24

Thank you Blingloving

AngelaScandal · 22/04/2020 13:42

Well I may never look at a banana in the same way. 🍌

banivani · 22/04/2020 15:03

I believe the correct term is bonkbuster

If she has a degree she must have studied after au-pairing, I'd say (quite normal here to have a break before studying) but I can't claim to have gotten a good grasp of the timeline! Article I read said she went to London after graduating from high school.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/04/2020 15:20

I don't recall discussing this book on these threads. And it sounds like one I'd remember!

I think, "cock buster" is the more extreme version! (I think I read it on Twitter or something). Believe me, Jackie Collins, and even Jilly Cooper, have NOTHING on these books! Grin

@QueenofTheAndals - we definitely have at some point as there was someone else who'd read the book and there was some inappropriate banter for a while! Grin But it was AGES ago!

LadyEloise · 22/04/2020 16:05

QueenoftheAndals
My sentiments exactly. Smile
I think I'd remember.

BlingLoving · 22/04/2020 16:50

here you go

I went back and searched to make sure I wasn't losing my mind Grin. But it looks like actually 'discussion" is a strong word - it was just me and one other poster very briefly discussing it! The posts are on Friday 25 January.

megletthesecond · 22/04/2020 17:16

It's Prince Louis' birthday tomorrow isn't it. i have no life.
I predict a pic of him in more royal hand me downs (this is not a bad thing).

LadyEloise · 22/04/2020 17:53

Found it BlingLoving.
It took a while !!!
But sure what else could I be doing in this lockdown.

But sure what else could I be doing in this lockdown.

Well, shifting gears a bit, I now have Princess Anne's hairstyle. I wear my hair shortish, but missed my regular cut just before the shutdown. It's growing fast; I can't stand it on my neck, and the pony tail kept coming loose, so this morning I swept the sides up and pinned them, then put the back in a French twist. It looks exactly like P. Anne's style, but it's not a good look on me.

paradyning · 22/04/2020 19:17

It's not a good look on her!

LadyEloise · 22/04/2020 19:23

mrscampbellblackagain · 22/04/2020 20:18

Was just going to say what paradyning did Wink

I read the interview in vanity fair and would love to have a proper chat with Anne - I think her views on all the RF would be very interesting.

SenecaFallsRedux · 22/04/2020 20:46

It would probably look better with a tiara. Crown

frugalkitty · 22/04/2020 20:52

I think that could be a new saying Seneca

Do you like my new dress? It would probably look better with a tiara

I've got a new coat, what do you think? It would probably look better with a tiara

Grin
paradyning · 22/04/2020 21:02

Everything looks better with a tiara

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 22/04/2020 21:27

Well the royal collection are selling very reasonable priced tiaras. Obviously for doing the housework. But they don’t look very comfortable....

AdaColeman · 22/04/2020 22:12

Well, now we know what HM has in that handbag....a handbag size tin of emergency shortbread! I must send for some myself! Grin Grin

RomaineCalm · 22/04/2020 22:40

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/04/2020 22:45

That is cute. He's very like Kate and look at those eyebrows!

TokyoSushi · 22/04/2020 22:48

He looks fab, more like Charlotte than George and very like Kate!

frugalkitty · 22/04/2020 23:08

I love the photos of Louis, he's a real blend of his big brother and sister to look at.
