Does anyone have really wide feet?

And wears white trainers? I’m talking feet like a hobbit. A HOBBIT. I would dearly love to wear a simple pair of white canvas style shoes/plimsolls but have yet to find something that fits my wide, shire horse feet. I’ve tried Simply Be’s wide fit canvas shoes but they still rubbed like anything.

Please offer me hope, if there’s any fellow hobbits out there.

Have you tried Evans? They do really wide fittings

ScrunchyXL · 05/04/2020 10:13

I have great difficulty in finding basic shoes to fit, tried cosifeet leather shoes maryjane style is not too bad but I would like a pair of white canvas plimsoll style or basic trainers, been trying for ages anyone had any success

Fellow hobbit. I feel your pain, Converse and Superga which I’d love to live in are no good. I live in these. gb.ecco.com/en-GB/product/5638272192/ECCO-SOFT-7-W
They come with a removable insole which makes them even wider once removed. They are pricey but I always try to buy them when they are on sale and as they are leather they last and last.

Yes, I have and second the recommendation for Evans. You might need to size down in terms of your normal 'length' shoe size.

Hotter shoes also do an extra wide (EEE) fit but most of their styles aren't very 'young' if you see what I mean.

You can stretch canvas shoes a bit by stuffing them with damp newspaper and letting it dry - might be worth a shot with the pair you have.

ScrunchyXL · 05/04/2020 10:16

I have looked at Evans but they are not wide enough, I am a 5e in cosifeet.

ScrunchyXL · 05/04/2020 10:23

I have several pairs of leather Eccos in different colours they fit fine once they are worn in but I still would like a pair of white canvas lace ups. I also have Crocs Baya style which fit well I believe it is there widest fitting.

FaFoutis · 05/04/2020 10:25

Have you tried men's trainers?

FaFoutis · 05/04/2020 10:26

Camper are wide.

catwithnohat · 05/04/2020 10:26

Try www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/ Not proper trainers but good for wide fit in general (expensive though)

New Balance do some proper wider fit trainers but they might not be wide enough for you if you have short very wide feet.

Adidas Stan Smiths or Superstar. Also Nike Blazers.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 05/04/2020 10:43

I’ve always assumed the Stan smiths would only work for those who just have slightly wider fit. Mine are WIDE. Like a hoof.

I usually go for extra wide or extra extra wide. I don’t know if the Ecco would be wide enough but I really like the look of those.

I’m going to have a look at all these recs, thank you Smile

Adidas are wider. I have hobbit feet and the 80s continentals, the leather is also very soft and stretches nicely.

JeanMichelBisquiat · 05/04/2020 10:55

Fellow hobbit here - Stan Smiths are just about OK for me, so worth a try!

OhioOhioOhio · 05/04/2020 10:56

Clark do wide fit.

LowerLoxleyAmbridge · 05/04/2020 11:02

I'm with you on the hobbit feet, unfortunately Confused

The only shoes that fit me are Primark wide fit and Matalan wide fit, both of which are much wider than M&S wide feet or Dorothy perkins. Carvella (who are supposed to be very generous are too narrow). Evans do fit but I find them too wide at the heel. Hotter fit but I'm not dead yet!

Primark and Matalan don't do widths in their trainers, so I always buy plain mens ones instead. Any mens standard trainers fit me well width wise. And I also buy mens standard width leather brogues and wellies.

Oblomov20 · 05/04/2020 11:02

I have very small, very wide feet. So ugly. Impossible to buy for!

Dreamingofsunnydays · 05/04/2020 11:36

Hi I am also cursed with the frighteningly wide feet issue, I have just bought some Feiyue ( recommended on MN) canvas trainers grey/orange £20. They also do black or white and they were £15. I was not sure when I first got them but put them on my super wide feet and loved them....... might be worth a try. Good luck

QuestionableMouse · 05/04/2020 11:49

I have a wide foot with a high instep and live in Sketchers. I look for the relaxed fit which has more space.

islandislandisland · 05/04/2020 11:50

I find vans better than converse, which are always way too pointy for my square feet

Detectoristnotmetaldetector · 05/04/2020 11:52

Wide feet here and only wear Skechers. Other shoes look nicer but I can't deal with being uncomfortable.

Chochito · 05/04/2020 12:11

My feet are triangular, very wide across the toes with slim heels. Also high instep. It's a problem.

grannycake · 05/04/2020 12:14

i have one very wide foot - the other not so much. I also have a high instep. I have bought shoe stretchers from Amazon which I have had some success with. Otherwise JD Williams do a huge range of EEE fittings - most are horris but I have been able to get acceptable work boots from there

ScrunchyXL · 05/04/2020 13:11

Which shops stock this make

ScrunchyXL · 05/04/2020 13:14

Not heard of Feiyue is this the correct spelling?

BadDaughter01 · 05/04/2020 13:17

I wear skechers trainers all the time. Boots from Simply Be, but they aren't great quality. Formal shoes and sandals are a nightmare to buy. I am a size 7 EEE, high instep, triangular feet.
