Buzz cut for infection control or wait till hairdressers reopen and get pixie cut?

I'm a nurse and I'm getting a bit obsessed with hair at the moment and what I might be bringing home in it.
We have to wash hair after every shift now and I have shoulder length permed hair so it's dry as hell.

I would really like to not have any hair right now but I'm also mildly worried about buzz cutting it as I'm not slim and have quite a round face. My hair does grow really fast so would be at pixie cut length in a month or 2 anyway.
In the perfect world I would go and get a short pixie cut but obviously that's not an option.
So opinions, a, buzz cut, b, wait for pixie cut, c, stop obsessing about something silly?

I can recommend the Wahl colour pro Cordless hair clipper.(£32)
Ive got a pixie cut and it was getting too long so I ordered the above online because it has a long grade 8 attachment (25mm) had a go yesterday and its turned out ok. The online tutorial was really helpful showing how to angle the clippers and it's also got 2 shapers for each ear!
Hope that helps!

Well done you! It looks great. I rock a buzz cut from time to time and love it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/04/2020 16:01

I worked with a hcp who always did this to her hair. She didn’t give a shit about hair and was the kindest manager I’ve worked for.

RoxytheRexy · 05/04/2020 16:02

You look amazing!

I’m an ITU nurse and I’m browsing Mumsnet for a solution to this very problem. We have theatre hats for our hair but they have run out so we are making bandanas from the wraps that the gowns come in. However we are running out of those as we are using them for patient towels/covers.

Plus one of the showers has broken in theatres so we are all using the same one. That’s a long queue after a night shift.

I have super thick shoulder length wavy hair and it’s a massive pain in the arse. I’ve had a pixie cut before. Is there a way I could do that at home? We don’t have clippers

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2020 16:08

You look amazing op. Absolutely brilliant.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 05/04/2020 16:17

You look amazing - it really suits you! And someone else send - I first noticed your eyes..... bloody wish I could do eyeliner so well! Thank you for all you are doing Flowers

Redcrayons · 05/04/2020 16:20

Wow it looks great. It’s really stylish, you should consider keeping it like that.

Should keep you cool with all the extra kit you have to wear.

HardRockHallelujah · 05/04/2020 16:24

You look amazing and well done for being brave. And, of course, thank you for all that you're doing.

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 05/04/2020 16:26

Buzzcuts are very popular right now, for obvious reasons! I suspect once people are allowed out of lockdown, & start socialising, it will become obvious why there's been a massive run on clippers! You look great, BTW. It suits you, you have a lovely shaped face, great smile, & I think the cut emphasises your eyes.

Keep on doing your wonderful work. Flowers

Looks good!
I'm a bit jealous! 💞

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 05/04/2020 16:46

A buzz cut is a very unforgiving haircut imo.

Completely disagree: mine's stunning Blush

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 05/04/2020 16:48

And yours is even more stunning @ditavonteeseddita Smile

CuriousCatCatcher · 05/04/2020 16:51

user1471462428 · 05/04/2020 16:53

I’m working a covid ward and shaved my head too. Number 8 on top and number 2 on the sides. I absolutely scrub myself at work and then again at home. Best of luck

MysteryFrog · 05/04/2020 16:55

Love it!! I shave my head every few years when I get tired of long hair, it’s so liberating! I recommend it to everyone. Even though I did get called Sir once last winter Grin

Nixee2231 · 05/04/2020 16:59

It looks wonderful and I hope it brings you some relief!

Looks great! Well done and thanks for all you are doing. I had my shoulder length hair chopped into a VERY short pixie and I love it. Might do the same as you now!
