Champagne wedding dress

Hi All,

Ive got a Champagne wedding dress - ball gown style. My original colour scheme was going to be grey and Duck egg blue but I dont think this will now go?

My mum is being very difficult and wants green - I do not want green at all!

Wedding is in January next year (Hopefully!!) what colours would you pair with a Champagne dress? I like the look of Navy or an Eggplant colour?

Also whilst we're on the topic we have the options of keeping the venues Xmas trees up or having them down - what would you do?

I think navy would be gorgeous with a champagne dress always nice for a winter wedding!

Also, if it was me.. Even though I love Christmas I think I could only have the trees up if I was getting married November/December. So my choice would probably be to take them down.

I would go for a very deep red. It’s winter and berry colours look fab. Green is difficult I think but a dark green with a berry red is fab.

I'd stick with grey and blue tbh. I don't think it will look weird and I would definite ditch the trees

Whichever colour you choose it needs to be a muted or cloudy colour rather than a pure clear colour as champagne is just that. It isnt a pure colour like whiten it's a bit like white that's been filled (sort of). So for best complements choose your colour but in a tone like that so, how about a cappuccino colour? Or a dusky olr pink not a pale pastel pink? A dusky blue? Faded plum?
I wouldnt have green though personally and if you dont like it definitely dont as you will always look back and wish you hadnt!
You can also combine colours like a couple of shades of dusky pink and a dull plum if you have 6 or do adult bridesmaids.
It depends on the exact tone of your dress.
Those colours look good in a chiffon rather than a satin finish.
I would only have trees up for a pre christmas wedding. Afterwards I think having it fresh and clear is nicer.

I think black dresses for bridesmaids would look classic - or a very deep plum or aubergine colour.

I'd go no tree. I'm fed up of Christmas by January and it's your wedding, you don't need those types of extras.

Little bridesmaids would look odd in black. I think it’s American and odd for this country. Sort of black widow looking.

I had deep red for my bridesmaids and I nearly bought a champagne dress! I think it looks lovely. Or a deep plum. I'd be tempted to leave the trees up if it's early January - seasonal, free decorations and will look lovely in photos.

I had a champagne wedding dress and my bridesmaid wore a full length black dress with a black and cream bodice which looked stunning!

Depends when in January for the trees, if in the first few days I'd say leave them up. Enjoy the planning!

I don’t think you should worry too much about matching your colour scheme to the season. If you want champagne, duck egg and grey then have that. Although as I’m typing I’m thinking how lovely a coffee colour rather than grey would look with champagne and duck egg. Definitely don’t choose it to please your mother if it isn’t what you want.

I wore champagne gold at my wedding. The other colour we used deep red. My flowers were small deep red roses.

My dress looks more ivory in the photos though!

A deep emerald green could look beautifully elegant against champagne. That or navy I think. You'd have to be very cautious with reds against champagne as the hue could easily be in contrast as opposed to complimenting your gown.

I think your original colour scheme sounds lovely and would go with champagne. The main thing I wanted to say though was put your foot down with you mum. This is your wedding, not hers, she needs to butt out on things like colour scheme. Give her a job to do that she can get very excited and busy about but that doesn't really matter to you - I gave my mum the cake, and my MIL all the buttonholes. Both did a grand job, they felt included, took some of the mental load off me, but I could also get on with everything else how I wanted :D

Hopefully these photos attach. This is the emerald I mean, an example of a red I think would compliment (see how it is slightly 'dusky' in hue?), and a navy that would all suit alongside champagne.

I had a champagne colour suit, with olive green. These are my favourite colours so it was always going to be this combination for me. #SorryNotSorry 😀

Depends when in January. First week, I'd keep the decs up. After that it'll be too far past Christmas.

Could they keep the fairy lights up though? That might be nice.

I don't think grey and duck egg blue will not go with a champagne dress. Sorry OP. For a January wedding I'd choose jewel colours: dark blue, dark red or dark green or even a berry pink.

Sorry, I mean I don't think it will go! The grey will make the champagne dress look yellowly and the dress will make the grey look washed out. You need contrast.

I wouldn’t keep the trees up but some foliage with fairy lights would look lovely and then lots of candles too.

I think a lovely berry colour for bridesmaids, or a dusky pink.
