Champagne wedding dress

Hi All,

Ive got a Champagne wedding dress - ball gown style. My original colour scheme was going to be grey and Duck egg blue but I dont think this will now go?

My mum is being very difficult and wants green - I do not want green at all!

Wedding is in January next year (Hopefully!!) what colours would you pair with a Champagne dress? I like the look of Navy or an Eggplant colour?

Also whilst we're on the topic we have the options of keeping the venues Xmas trees up or having them down - what would you do?

Help!!

I had a champagne wedding dress. Bridesmaid wore black. The men wore silver cravats and waistcoats

I had a champagne dress. I let the BMs choose their dresses and they went for an amethyst colour which looked lovely.

I wanted green (mostly because my bridesmaids were redheads and I thought it would suit them) but my grandmother almost had a meltdown, apparently green at weddings is unlucky, so you can't have that Grin

Aubergine would be gorgeous.

I'd tell Mum that green is 'unlucky' and go with a rich berry colour. I think you need a strong colour with champagne - as said, aubergine, navy, deep Burgundy. Congratulations!

I think navy looks very cold. I saw a champagne wedding dress made by the lady who made the Christening gown for my DC and she had designed a cape with a deep red velvet lining and she had painted a silk train to be attached to the dress. The painting was of hedgerow berries. It was amazing and utterly unique. It was for a winter wedding. Apparently the church was lit with candles. I don’t think all over navy and black gives the same feel as a deep burgundy.

I went to a wedding with the bride in Champagne and the bridesmaids in black, they had orange flowers but the combination was stunning, esp in the photos.

Somewhat funeral at the moment though!

Zisforstripyoss · 05/04/2020 10:35

Pinky magenta type red would look lovely. Perhaps teal - kind of greeny, to make your mum happy?

BubblesBuddy · 05/04/2020 10:35

Orange on the hair of red heads though wouldn’t be great!

For those asking my fave colours

I'd always always planned to have a deep purple aubergine eggplant colour and pair it with the silver decorations.

DP is a huge fan of Navy though and to be honest after looking at some pictures and bridesmaid dresses etc I do really like it.

It's on the 2nd January.

If it was a summer wedding I would've stuck with the duck egg blue and grey but I feel like they are too pale for a winter wedding.

Aubergine and silver would look amazing! Keep all the lights/decs up minus the trees, sorted!

If your dp really wants navy, could you combine the two colours? I think they could go well together.

I've also always known green to be extremely unlucky and as a ridiculouslycsuperstitios person went to all lengths to banish it from my wedding!
Superstitions are silly on the whole but I always say every bit of luck you can get helps!

Get a sample piece of the fabric; the shop should be able to send off for one then hold it up to dress colours in real life to go for a better blend idea.

opinionminion · 05/04/2020 11:15

Any red from pillar box to burgandy or emerald green.
Please don't go for navy .. very cold and very 80s.

twinkle2306 · 05/04/2020 11:39

@simplekindoflife I love that!

For such an early date in January I would keep the Christmas trees.
