Does this sweatshirt look boxy to you?

www.hush-uk.com/clothing/sweatshirts-hoodies/contrast-stitch-sweat-top_1-washed-neon-pink.htm

I blooming hope not as I’ve just ordered it; my first purchase in months!

I’m just so tempted by the colour.

Does the fit look boxy to you though?

In fairness it’s not a huge deal if it’s not perfect as nobody is going to see me in it for now but when this is all over I’d still like to be able to pop to the shops etc in it without feeling like it makes me look like a giant square. Literally, not metaphorically.

I’m slim but very athletic build ie big shoulders and chest (but flat boobs) and long-bodied so boxy shapes are not good on me.

Drat. Should I not have ordered it??!! Won’t be able to send it back for weeks if it’s wrong and it will stress me out sitting there in its box!!

It does look a bit boxy in the photo...

Sooverthemill · 02/04/2020 15:35

I have this in my basket. I have at least 5 hush sweatshirts and this looks like the relaxed fit of the one I'm wearing in this photo if it helps? I'm 5'1

Does this sweatshirt look boxy to you?
Sooverthemill · 02/04/2020 15:43

I always size down in their sweatshirts. If you have changed your mind you can email or phone them and they will cancel your order . Their customer services staff are lovely ( and all WFH). I did that yesterday as I'd preordered sandals and found others I preferred elsewhere

CuriousCatCatcher · 02/04/2020 15:45

OMG a normal thread title.

I couldnt click on it fast enough!

Sooverthemill · 02/04/2020 15:47

@Curious yup! Me too!

WickedlyPetite · 02/04/2020 15:49

Yes it does look boxy. Gorgeous colour though.

CuriousCatCatcher · 02/04/2020 15:49

It does a bit, which is no good for me as I'm 5'7 & size 12/14 & small chested but boxy makes me feel lanky for some reason.

Sooverthemill Lets celebrate normality, and I dont even drink Wine

nitgel · 02/04/2020 15:52

i have the zippy version and don't think it's particularly boxy, their tops vary so much!

Blueblackrose · 02/04/2020 15:55

It looks short in the body rather than boxy - though i suppose that might make the proportions more square.

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 02/04/2020 15:56

I don’t know what boxy means but £59 for that!!!

BoswellsBollocks · 02/04/2020 15:58

It does look a bit boxy, and cheap looking for that price Shock

Peacenquiet2 · 02/04/2020 16:19

Yes it does tbh op, and does not look like it's worth the price

Terralee · 02/04/2020 16:37

I was also going to say... I like the colour but it's expensive for a sports top that has no brand name... what I mean is I know it's hush but it could be from anywhere.
But it depends on what £59 is to you.

DelphiniumBlue · 02/04/2020 16:41

Gorgeous colour, but I thought it was a bit short and boxy. If anyone sees a longer one in a similar colour, do flag it up! Sort of thing you might get in Primark, but they're closed for the duration.

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 02/04/2020 16:46

I was going to say like PP said, you can get that in Primark for around £6 Grin

NarniaBanarnia · 02/04/2020 16:56

Do you really think I can cancel order? Did it about four hours ago.../ Am losing my nerve Grin £59 isn't nothing to me, not nothing at all. I just really like everything I've bought from hush in the past and it's always turned out to be well worth it. I buy carefully though and do return about 30% of what I buy from there usually as the fit is wrong...

Short in the body will be no good for me at all.

nitgel · 02/04/2020 17:02

Hush is far superior to bloody primark, you can send it back if you don't like it, but the brand is very ethical and the one I have which is similar is really well made and will last years.

Smile
Sooverthemill · 02/04/2020 17:53

Primarks business model is based on creating huge amounts of short-lived, poorly-made fast fashion products inherently contradicts the values of ethical fashion and spells nothing but bad news for the environment, workers and animals.

Whereas hush says"our focus on making high-quality clothes that are designed to be worn again and again (and hopefully by more than one person), but we’re setting ourselves ambitious targets to employ design techniques, fabrics and manufacturing methods that are kinder to the planet and to the people who we share it with. "

So I'd rather pay more for clothes from Hush and buy less than buy loads from Primark.

There are lots of other similar retailers trying hard to be better all round.

@NarniaBanarnia yes if they haven't sent it ( you get an email) you can cancel, email now and they will, answer tomorrow. They are fast! My order was placed 18 March ( preorder) and I cancelled yesterday, no problem

CountFosco · 02/04/2020 20:52

Isn't the point of a sweatshirt to be boxy? They're not exactly cut to follow the female shape after all. That is part of their joy surely?

It's a lovely colour and the neckline looks good as well. Try it and see.

NarniaBanarnia · 03/04/2020 10:14

You raise an excellent point Count Fosco (great name!) and actually the neckline was the main thing I liked as well as the colour.

I’m going to stick with the order. Worst case scenario I will just return when things are running again and I will try not to stress about the unreturned parcel! Weird things stressing me out at the mo!

That lovely pink just spoke to me... I’m living in grey/navy leggings and grey sweaters these days and NEED a change!

I love it - bet it looks fab

oohnicevase · 03/04/2020 10:37

Yeah they are boxy .. a lot of hush stuff is a weird fit !

zippyswife · 03/04/2020 10:45

I have been putting this in an out of my hush basket. In the end I decided it was just to much money (for me) to justify it. I really love the colour but I don’t think the cut would do enough for me. I tried on (and wished I’d have bought) a similar on in next a couple of years ago. I still regret that. I’m a pale skinned red head and it’s not a colour I’d normally think of but it looked amazing on. Since then I’ve been trying to hunt down something similar.

Krong · 03/04/2020 10:52

Hmm I don't think the neckline is very flattering. Agree with others that it is way overpriced.

Just because I'm curious - Hush can say they focus on whatever they want... where do they actually do their manufacturing? What measures do they take to provide a more sustainable output?

Concestor · 03/04/2020 10:58

It looks completely shapeless to me. What shape were you hoping it would have?
