Does this sweatshirt look boxy to you?

I blooming hope not as I’ve just ordered it; my first purchase in months!

I’m just so tempted by the colour.

Does the fit look boxy to you though?

In fairness it’s not a huge deal if it’s not perfect as nobody is going to see me in it for now but when this is all over I’d still like to be able to pop to the shops etc in it without feeling like it makes me look like a giant square. Literally, not metaphorically.

I’m slim but very athletic build ie big shoulders and chest (but flat boobs) and long-bodied so boxy shapes are not good on me.

Drat. Should I not have ordered it??!! Won’t be able to send it back for weeks if it’s wrong and it will stress me out sitting there in its box!!

Zurala it’s not so much that I want it to have a shape as such it’s just that if it IS a bit shapeless then short and boxy is the worst kind of shapelessness for me iyswim. I quite like ‘shapeless’ non-form fitting clothes as I am tall and slim and quite like the loose look (no curves for anything to cling to...!) but stuff that is shapelessly short and wide is a bad combo for my long torso and relatively wide ribs/shoulders... LONGER and baggy is a look I like Grin

I’m going to give this one a go when it gets here. I do think it is probably too short in the body for me.

@Krong I am pretty careful about which brands I buy from and try to use ethical, sustainable retailers when I buy something so I did look into Hush. No one is perfect but they talk about sustainability here which I find fairly encouraging. I do not work for Hush but according to my Stylebook stats almost 18% of my clothes come from there! Apart from major retailers like Boden, hush, John Lewis I buy from small British brands

Sooverthemill · 03/04/2020 14:34

@NarniaBanarnia I've ordered it too. I decided I liked it too much to leave it. We have a post office that opens once a week at the moment ( our shops are coordinating) so it can go back when we pick up bread the next time if it's no good.

Alsohuman · 03/04/2020 16:34

It’s a lovely colour but I wouldn’t pay that for a sweatshirt. I’m not convinced by Hush’s ethical claims either.

@Wearywithteens I'm sure you could find more expensive ones!

Alsohuman · 04/04/2020 11:33

Of course you could. They wouldn’t be worth the money, though.

Charley50 · 04/04/2020 11:54

I like boxy! It's nice, the colours is gorgeous; I'd keep it.

I do have a similar one from Primark though for £6 which actually has stayed nice and not gone bobbley or out shape at all.

Fast fashion is a disaster, but Primark do have some ethical practices in place, in terms of packaging, worker's conditions etc. Many people cannot afford Hush prices. I just hardly buy any clothes now (especially now!!!)

Sooverthemill · 04/04/2020 15:48

@Charley50 of course many people couldn't afford that price but this thread was asking if it looked boxy. It's style and beauty so you're going to get a mix of retailers talked about. When I'm bored with my hush stuff I sell it on. I like the organic cotton and I think they have a good set of sustainability policies. I have never been in a Primark ( never lived anywhere near one) but people seem to like their fast fashion buys from there. Room for everyone I'd say. Personally I wouldn't pay £169 for an Annie Bing sweatshirt but I'd love one!

Charley50 · 04/04/2020 16:12

Sooverthemill
It wasn't me that brought up ethical shopping or sustainability, or Primark! I was just responding to PPs..

Also; I did say I liked it the sweatshirt.. Grin

Pajamagirl · 04/04/2020 16:31

It’s lovely try it and see
Very tempted my self , I love the neckline , I have a monsoon jumper with a similar shape and I live in it ... going away to browse in hush
Anyone know sizing ? What size in UK sizing would the large be ? 14 ? 16 ?

Sooverthemill · 04/04/2020 16:37

Sorry @Charley50 it was the "many people can't afford hush prices" bit for you. I couldn't either until the kids were independent and I stopped having to fund them! My first hush item was bought from some money my dad left me.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2020 20:33

I have this sweatshirt. I had it on today. I love it. Size 12 and have it in the small. Its a nice shape. I love the washed neon pink. Its lovely and not overly thick. I think the colour gives you a nice pop! Its a bit boxy but I wear a long vest under it that just peeps beneath it so balances it out. I got 10% off. I am pleased with it.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/04/2020 20:34

The neck line is what drew me to it. Its lovely and I think will age nicely.
