Anyone shaved their hair?

Now this is something I've wanted to do for a long time but don't exactly think I have the face for it. But now seems the perfect time? Has anyone done it and loved it/regretted it? Any pictures? Thanks all! X

I haven't but would love to Grin i have clippers, it's so tempting sometimes.....
There's a lot of videos on you tube, but they are all skinny, pretty, very young people...as a mid 30s average, plump sort of person I'm not sure it would look so good on me!

Sooverthemill · 25/03/2020 15:28

Only when I had cancer and tbh that's what I always assume when I see someone with a shaved head. I dint think it's attractive but yes, you have a good moment to try and hair does after all grow back

raspberryjo · 25/03/2020 15:33

Yes I would love to and have always wanted to but also don't have the face for it. I just love how it looks and the low maintenance of it! I'm still on the fence about it x

My husband did a couple of weeks ago, I know it’s slightly different for men, as it is quite common, but my immediate reaction was he suited it, followed by a few days of thinking he looked like something out of cocoon, particularly if I rolled over and caught sight of his bald head in the middle of the night.

However now I’m totally used to it, and like it, he suits it, but it does take a bit of getting used to.

I think women can carry it off, and some look very beautiful with it.

LightDrizzle · 25/03/2020 15:35

I wish I had the looks for this I I really don’t.
Natalie Portman in my dream but Gollum in reality I fear.

EraOfTheGrey · 25/03/2020 16:16

I did it 2 years ago (I was 46 then) with the aim to remove all the colour from my hair. I obviously ended up with a grade 3 white buzzcut.

I loved it and it looked striking when I wore makeup. So easy to care for and my hair grew out in such good condition. It was always something I wanted to do so I can now strike it off my bucket list.

goldenorbspider · 25/03/2020 16:18

I would love it but just couldn't carry it. Can't think of her full name but there's model famous for being famous person called amber that has a bald head and she looks great. Saw pictures of her with hair and she just looked odd. I just don't have the pazzazz

DetroitLake · 25/03/2020 16:35

I'm toying with it. I don't have a conventional bathroom situation and public showers are closed. After the cold mess bathing yesterday, I think I have to shave it off. I don't wear make up and fear I'm going to look very manly.

raspberryjo · 25/03/2020 17:08

Haha gollum would be probably be me too! I think I would look fine if I wore make up or had my lashes done most of the time. Also something I've always wanted to do so might just bite the bullet. I'll keep you all updated if I do Grin

My hair is always short, [[https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=b2gdOiMV&id=E167005109C1A043FAC68C655C306E15B9805FFB&thid=OIP.b2gdOiMVoCubbACSbgC3rAHaKC&mediaurl=http%3a%2f%2fhairstylesweekly.com%2fimages%2f2012%2f10%2fHalle-Berry-Pixie-Hairstyle.jpg&exph=652&expw=481&q=halle+berry+hairstyles+short&simid=608041607762415541&selectedIndex=8&ajaxhist=0
Halle Berry short]] not that I'm claiming I look like her. It's very thick and strong and grows fast, and I look like a giant blackberry if it isn't cut regularly. Fortunately I had it cut at the beginning of last week, so I've probably got another four weeks before it drives me to total distraction.

So if it gets to that point I've decided that I'll be getting the clippers out - though probably on a longer setting than 'shaved'. How easy is it to do a decent job of it on yourself?

DetroitLake · 25/03/2020 19:41

It's really not hard. Make sure you get the length guard on safely and go in the right direction so you arent balded!

raspberryjo · 25/03/2020 19:53

Ohhhh you're all tempting me!

go on! i did the other year and it was fun. i probably wouldn't do it again but i'm really glad i tried it.

dreamerlemur · 25/03/2020 20:14

Surprised others have had this idea!
Yes it's been on my mind for a while as wanted to let the colour grey come through so could stop dying my hair. I walked past a barbers on Saturday and went in and asked to have my head shaved. I popped to the supermarket next door for cash and they may have had a chat as they were then talking me in to a grade 4 cut. However, I have gone from a boringish bob to the shortest hair ever which I love.

Because it has given me height on the top it elongates my face more which is needed ! No regrets and seems the ideal time to do this.

dreamerlemur · 25/03/2020 20:14

I'm late 40's with a 'sensible' job.

dreamerlemur · 25/03/2020 20:15

Also cut well for a fraction of price of hairdresser's for women.
The barber had no customers and spur of a moment thing. Will go back though.

Defaultuser · 25/03/2020 20:25

I lost my hair due to chemo and it's starting to grow back. I'm going to take this opportunity to experiment with short styles which I haven't had since the 90s. I'm also going to be kinder to my hair! For those who have shaved it would love some tips!

salvamea · 25/03/2020 20:26

Yes, me! Although I can't seem to locate a pic of mine at its shortest! So here are some of me with a bit of regrowth and when I let the top grow out. I loved it! Was so easy to keep and great to play around with makeup. I was 33/34 at the time.

Anyone shaved their hair?

raspberryjo · 25/03/2020 20:28

Yes I also want to be kinder to my hair. It's dyed dark with very damaged bleached hair underneath and just terrible condition so would love to start again and be all natural! Glad I'm not the only one. DH said people would look at me like 2007 Britney.

Me, had a total skinhead. No photos to show you!

I was drunk at the time and watching Aliens! Grin

Woke up the next morning and thought what the fuck!

dreamerlemur · 25/03/2020 20:33

raspberryjo Perhaps go for the grade 3 or 4 first and then a week after if you like it can then go completely bald.

raspberryjo · 25/03/2020 20:46

Yeah was thinking grade 3 or 4 anyway. Just have a little fuzz!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 25/03/2020 21:00

I have thought about it as I have quite small features and bones so think it would look ok. However I also think I would be so cold for most of the year without hair.

ilovecherries · 26/03/2020 00:35

I’ve had a shaved head (alopecia). I have ridiculous tufts that grow sometimes and random strands that appear at the back so I get my husband to give me a number 1 all over every Sunday. I’m somewhat charmed to find I may become the norm by the time all this is over.

raspberryjo · 26/03/2020 06:58

I do actually love the look! That's why I want to do it. Just aware not everyone does and may think I'm odd doing it for no reason
