NOW this is EVEN MORE SERIOUS - WWW's 10 year younger six week boot camp, Week 2, Sept 07

WideWebWitch · 09/09/2007 21:29

Hello! This is week two of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I have been reading this book, Happiness, lessons from a new science and happiness REALLY is important you know! I will summarise if Ic an when I've finished it.

Oh batters, that sounds horrible, poor dd and poor you, cooped up in A & E on such a glorious Indian summer day
Really hope she feels better soon and that you enjoy some quality mother/daughter time together tomorrow
Dd was so keen for our (perfectly nice but we all lost track of time and it was nearly 7pm before we realised it) guests to go home that she ostentatiously lay down snoring in the hall Miss Manners, not!

MarinaLaPasionaria · 16/09/2007 21:26

PS I am sure your dd recognised your entirely justifiable retort as the no-brainer it is! One of the few perks of your children growing older is that you can get away with "suck it up, baybee"-tinged arguments about personal health and hygiene.

uptomyeyes · 16/09/2007 22:04

Hi all

Popping in for a quick download - hope everyone is well.

Sobernow - was it £128 on one per of shoes? I recently spent £111 on shoes - 3 pairs - nearly all with Startrite written on the insole

Well in terms of the bootcamp I can report:

Feet are out of crisis intervention and into routine maintenance. So much so that I got a blister on the sole of my foot from a pair of Birks I have worn all summer. I'm presuming that it becasue the skin is so lovely and delicate instead of like a pair of hob nailed boots.

Going to bed early - I always score well on this one!

Alcohol - no more than 1 glass on friday and sat. Nothing today.

Moisturised, sunscreened.

Eat healthily - getting better but did dive last night with a take away.

Water - getting there.

My big success this weekend was exercise - cycled everywhere, usually with DS3 on the back for added drag. Went swimming on my own this morning set myself a target of 15 lengths but did 22 so I am chuffed. Not bad for someone who has spent the last 9 years prancing around in the baby pool with one or other offspring Next target 30 lengths.

Feeling creaky now so I'm off to rest my muscles.

Goodnight bootcampers

tortoiseSHELL · 16/09/2007 22:04

oh poor batters' dd - sounds horrible. COuld she use bonjela to give a bit more relief? Or Calgel? Poor her, and poor you having to go to A&E. Hope she's a lot better tomorrow.

lol @ sobernows DDs 'compliment'!

So far today, big gold star for me... stretched back muscles as soon as I got out of bed, applied sunscreen/moisturiser & flexitol, have only eaten muesli and drunk water. I've taken my iron supplement AND I've run a slow 5k (about 43 minutes) which according to Moron = was 6,050 steps and 299 calories.

And I'm making 'whatever is in the garden' soup for lunch which may contain a bit of butter and some oily homemade stock but it's largely made up of freshly picked veg - 'balanced meal' I call it.

legalalien · 17/09/2007 11:44

LOL "theDuchessofFlexiFeet".

Well, am back from sunny Languedoc (not that anyone missed me), and predictably have failed on the limited-wine-intake front, but I defy anyone to have lunch in the sunshine with a mercurial two year old and not opt for a small "pichet" of local plonk.

On the plus side, the hot weather did result in a lot of water consumption and sunscreen application, AND I managed to remember to take the Flexitol with me. Also, I didn't eat too much cheese, which is usually the problem with trips to France.

Now, to get back on the bandwagon.

TheDuchessOfFlexiFeet · 17/09/2007 11:47

Welcome back legalalien! I think abstinence in France is beyond the call of bootcamp duty.

PS. Is everybody getting a spellcheck on their posts?

moonshine · 17/09/2007 17:05

Reporting in as really need to be strict with myself (oo er missus) to get anywhere near reaching my targets of healthy bmi and fab new clothes that I want to wear this decade.

Started body brushing again this morning as it is truly the one thing that makes my skin super-soft. Sunscreen applied, tried to fit in exercise by walking up and down 8 flights of stairs at work several times, will try and do some girly grooming on my feet again tonight (and am closely following the flexitol experiment). Food intake ok atm, and will now attempt to cook a fish pie (mostly for my own amusement, it would seem, as the dcs will no doubt snub my efforts, as per usual). And definitely no wine tonight!

sorry your dd is no better - hope she gets well soon.

Marina · 18/09/2007 10:08

Oh rotten luck batters, sorry to hear that
Hope a couple of the ideas I mailed might be worth a punt. You'd have to decant them, but the chamomile teething powders are very soothing when mouths are sore, or maybe you could get her some chamomilla pillules XXX
(waves to bk in a song of the siren "join our bootcamp" sort of manner)

smugmumofboys · 18/09/2007 10:26

Hello everyone. Haven't been on for a few days. Water consumption, feet etc all OK. Having super sleek, rejuvenating bob hair cut today.

Exercise still not great. DS2 now at pre-school 3 mornings a week but am going back to work after 4 years this week (teaching Adult Ed evening classes) so am spending 'free' time doing lesson prep - or at least I will be when I get off here!

Sadly, my cat is very, very ill and may need to be put to sleep so I have been comfort eating rather alot. Feel gutted. She's 15 and was my baby before I had babies. She's been at the vet's overnight and there's a real cat-shaped hole in the house.

bamamama · 18/09/2007 10:33

smob - sorry to hear about your cat. We lost our "1st born" ginger moggy last year and my dh is still not quite over it. Comfort eat away I say.
Batters - hope dd is feeling better.
Any sign of Winnie? Hope all is ok.
Bootcamp wise all is well. DH is still on his 2 bowls-of-cereal-a-day diet an I am supporting him in his efforts but am now dreaming of roast dinners! However he's starting to see the benefit now so by the weekend the starvation bit will be over. Hurrah! Hope everyone is ok. It's quite quiet isn't it?

Grrrr, I am seriously considering ending my relationship with Yahoo, am wondering if a mail to bk sent around the same time (ie quite late last night) got eaten too
I have repeated the main suggestion further down this thread though I see...chamomilla. Brill for just soothing the irritability and calming

rosmerta · 18/09/2007 13:40

batters - sorry dd isn't any better, hope it clears up soon

smugmum - sorry to hear about your cat. We have one too and am fearing that his days are coming to an end. We'd never expected a long life anyway as he has FIV but still...

Sobernow - well done on the weight loss! I think your positive spin is a really good idea

Have I missed anyone?

Bootcamping is going ok, have started having tea with ds at 5pm otherwise I eat far too late and usually rubbish as well. Have also cut out caffeine after 7pm and am finding I'm sleeping much better.

TheDuchessOfFlexiFeet · 18/09/2007 16:29

Smug - how is the hair? Sorry about mog.

rosmerta - I have early dinner too, it's fine as long as you don't succumb to late evening hunger (which I sometimes do).

I had a short recovery run of just a mile after yesterdays exertions and I feel less stiff for it. Have moisturised/flexitolled and taken iron. Haven't had enough water... yet. And I certainly won't get an early night as one of our projects is launching in the US tonight and I'm going to watch the conference live to see if we're a success or a failure.

rosmerta · 18/09/2007 20:52

Duchess - its funny but I find that eating dinner early I might still get hungry later on but I'm much more likely to have oat cakes or fruit. Plus we've banned biscuits/sweets etc from the house so its not like we have anything worth snacking on anyway!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 18/09/2007 21:38

at Rosmertas biscuit ban.

I had egg and chips for dinner.
