NOW this is EVEN MORE SERIOUS - WWW's 10 year younger six week boot camp, Week 2, Sept 07

WideWebWitch · 09/09/2007 21:29

Hello! This is week two of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I have been reading this book, Happiness, lessons from a new science and happiness REALLY is important you know! I will summarise if Ic an when I've finished it.

SB, if that's retinol you NEED a sunscreen with it!

tortoisekinnockSHELL · 15/09/2007 13:02

batters, that sounds absolutely gorgeous!

I have spent my morning writing a complaint letter about ds1's swimming lessons - so am feeling all ranty and indignant. Having a salady type lunch, with dips and quiche etc. Will TRY and get an earlyish night, as am feeling really v tired, and it's the part of bootcamp I have NEVER succeeded on!

squeakybrushes · 15/09/2007 13:09

it's azelaic acid.

moonshine · 15/09/2007 13:10

Sorry, have not been on MN for ages - this working lark is really knackering!

There's some horrible emotional turmoil for a few people on this thread - am so sorry. Hope the weekend is better for you.

Food-wise have been crap. Just can't control my eating between the hourse of 4pm - 7pm. So that is a work in progress.

Did buy some new make-up, including Benefit Boi-ing under-eye concealer which is fab, and my skin is definitely better but am not sure why.

Weekends are always a disaster for me, bootcamp-wise, but am trying to keep my pecker up, so to speak. Am beginning to feel too old for all this stupid worrying about how fat I am, or at least annoyed at myself for letting it drift on continually.

Winnie, it's excelent that you are able to have moments of happiness in teh midst of crap being thrown in your general direction.

dh came home last night and sat me down and told me lots of lovely things. So why am I so ridiculous that i can't actually remember any of them, and can only think that he said he was dissapointed? Hmmmm. Oh well, my new therapist called and I have an appointment in 2 weeks so I may finally have a chance of learning to like me.
I was good yesterday daytime, eating healthy leftovers, but then my cousin and her dp arrived and we went out to a 2 Michelin star restaurant where I had the most amazing meal

Ok, the menu

Cheese straw (but unlike any you have ever tasted) with olives
Homemade crisps sprinkled with Maldon Salt and served with a balsamic vinegar cream
Pink grapefruit and chapagne mousse (served from a soda siphon)
Cep and truffle veloute with mushroom gnocchi
Ballotine of quail and foie gras, wrapped in savoy cabbage and served with a brussel sprout reduction, sauted brussel leaves and wild mushrooms
Slow roasted fillet of beef with spinach, roasted garlic, celariac mousse and a ball of rice noodles, filled with foie gras and deep fried.
Apple tarte tartin, with garlic cream and bay ice cream, accompianed by a Granny Smith test tube trio (frozen apple puree, apple cream and apple mousse.
Cheese - including an amazing reblochon
Puff pastry triangles, served with dipping sauces of apple, caramel and vanilla
Fresh mint tea
Tarragon chocolate and Lavender chocolate

prufrock · 15/09/2007 18:04

And we drank (between 4)
Kir Royale
1 bottle white, 3 bottles red, 1 bottle port and a glass of 1968 Calvados to finish.

I think I mustn't have had my full share of the alcohol though because I felt fine this am. And I didn't have any bread, which meant I didn't feel ridiculously full and bloated when trying to sleep.

I'm being bad again today - just had an ice cream and about to have a glass of wine, and will eat oxtail stew and (hopefully) Nevisian Chocolate bombe tonight, but though I hugely enjoyed last night, I am wierdly looking forward to getting back to my healthy regime on monday

WideWebWitch · 15/09/2007 18:32

Wow, food sounds lovely Pru, glad your dh is telling you nice things

had sausage and egg muffin
bked potato, cheese, bacon, butter
and about to have curry and wine
but WILL be in bed early

I've got to be better next week...

I've just come in from a party. So very late night indeed. I have had G&Ts. And champagne. And lots of cheese savoury things. I have been standing up in strappy sandals for 6 hours. There was so much dry ice that I sound like Bonnie Tyler so I hate to think what it's done to my complexion. I am very dehydrated (drinking water now though). And I've done less than 8,000 steps .

But is is Saturday.

sobernow - hope you survived the shoe expedition.

prufrock - nice dinner !

WWW - it's the weekend! Bootcamp again on Monday!

bamamama · 16/09/2007 02:26

DoNB - party sounds lovely. Strappy sandals must mean the flexitol is doing it's work (or the dry ice was there to camoflauge (sp?)) Prufrock - you dinner out sounds wonderful! (and I'm glad you seem to be feeling a bit better about things) I have been eating granola and fruit for a week in support of dh's diet so am dreaming of proper food. Lost 2lbs though so not all bad.
MI - how was the personal shopper? I'd love to have someone take me in hand and sort out the random collection of badly made tat that consitutes the majority of my wardrobe. And I have stupid hair.
Anyway, went on a big family bike ride and yesterday and had our first aussie barbie by the lake. A lovely day was had by all then back for more granola and too much wine! Enjoy your Sunday people and Duchess - go to bed!

tortoiseSHELL · 16/09/2007 08:57

ok batters - it's not really the lessons, it's the amount of pool space available which has been rapidly shrinking as they fit more and more classes in. Up till last week it was 3 classes in the little pool (which is about 10m long and 4-5 m wide). Ds1's teacher has been away for a month, and they've had stand in teachers. Yesterday, because there were ALREADY 3 classes in the little pool, they were told to get into the big pool, which had public swimming going on next to their lane AND children doing badges in the lane they were given. And ds1 can't stand up even in the shallowest point, and wouldn't get in, and none of the rest of his class can swim either and didn't want to go in, and by halfway through the lesson had done nothing but stand on the side! Then the teacher realised it was fruitless and took them into the little pool, so there were now 4 classes with nearly 30 children trying to swim, which just isn't going to work. All ds1 did in a half hour swimming lesson was swim across the little pool twice on a woggle.

So emailed them with a complaint - I was SO cross, but so were all the other parents, so I think they will get lots of complaints.

It is reasonable to expect a bit of pool space when you pay for a course of swimming lessons, isn't it?

Hello all - long time no see.

I am adjusting to live with the highs and lows that come with not being on ad's for a year - I am enjoying the clarity but think I worry a bit too much with every mood change. Being focused and active helps - and here I am!!

BTW my supervisor wrote this

Monkeytrousers · 16/09/2007 09:06

doh life

lol sobernow!

rosmerta · 16/09/2007 13:18

Hi all, sorry I haven't caught up with the thread so I hope everyone's ok and doing well.

We had quite a nice holiday, lots of fish and salad so did well on the food but also lots of beer & wine!

Have started using Flexitol and must admit, I never thought my feet looked particularly bad but there is such a difference

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/09/2007 13:51

bamamama - flexitol not working yet but party was very dark so nobody noticed my rough feet. I am starting a 'flexitol results' thread involving photo's of my feet.

I walked for 40mins with dog this morning - beautiful weather but it's on the change now. Eating very well today & lots of water.

Have absorbed own bodyweight in moisturiser to combat last nights abuse. Sunday is no make-up day so I'm frequently adding lip balm and moisturiser. And DH gave me a head massage earlier (but now my hair looks greasy)!

I almost feel human again.

motherinferior · 16/09/2007 13:59

I recommend personal shopper experience and have posted on my thread. But feel too shy to wear any of it .

rosmerta · 16/09/2007 14:28

MI, where did you go for your personal shopper? I tried one at Debenhems (Reading) and thought she was quite rubbish, or maybe it was my expectation of what I thought they'd do!

motherinferior · 16/09/2007 14:31

Peter Jones.

I may look rubbish, yet; although Hester and my mate Amanda assure me I didn't...

MarinaLaPasionaria · 16/09/2007 20:25

Am lagging a bit this weekend due to night out on Friday night, dinner party on Saturday night, and hectic teaparty with NCT friend this afternoon [exhausted emoticon]
Did six hours' solid housework, with a moderate hangover on Sat though, and am therefore bound to have lost weight this weekend
Glad things are better at home prufrock and that your shopping trip went well MI
LOL at sobernow and the 128 pound weight loss, that happens to me when I go shoe shopping too
