Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

I find the literal dressing amusing more than anything and I'm pretty sure the poster who asked if she'd wear a beret and carry a baguette when visiting France was merely making a joke!

I laughed out loud at the french joke! [shrug] Grin. I think it was especially funny because in fact in france she wore Chanel and it felt so appropriate?

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 15:07

Oh Mathilde! When Erdem attacks...

Meghan is at a school in Dagenham? I think it's the light, because if not, she's wearing black trousers and white ankle boots!?!?

SenecaFallsRedux · 06/03/2020 15:16

it's not derailing the thread it's calling out the hypocrisy and nastiness of these threads.

It certainly is derailing when posters are not being hypocritical and nasty.

drina27 · 06/03/2020 15:16

MM looks great in the second pic, here. This is the first time ever I have seen a less posed look.

TheNavigator · 06/03/2020 15:19

I always like MM's jewellery - she always goes for small, pretty pieces. I am not a fan of bling either and I like the simple, unfussy jewellery she chooses, it goes with her sleek look.

PineapplePower · 06/03/2020 15:20

On a more serious note, given the length of the journey, the jet lag and the potential for illness to be transmitted, I would imagine any loving (great)grandparent would be supportive of the decision to leave Archie safely at home

Travelling with a baby Archie’s age is dead easy, it’s when they start running around that it gets stressful (but she has staff for that). It’s actually a bit odd they didn’t take him to visit the extended family. I travel all the time with babies so have some experience to speak of

hopeishere · 06/03/2020 15:23

Blimey that white top and skirt are horrible. Individually they might be ok but not together.

itswinetime · 06/03/2020 15:24

I like the skirt on Meghan I think she really suits pencil skirts like @Spudlet the green ensemble is one of my favourite looks of hers she wore it again in red berry it suits her. The blouse is ok the sheer sleeves are a nice touch I actually think that might have been a better outfit then the blue apart from the colour it's my issues but I'm not a fan of all white.

Re the British royal family and being stuffy fashion wise i think one of the differences between them and the euro royals in that there is almost a generation gap. You had the queen and Margaret then Diana and fergie till the early 90's then northing till Sophie at the end of the 90s and I don't remember her being on that active a royal to start with as she was settling in and starting a family. The 90s-Kate kind of missed the royals fashion wise if you see what I mean there's a big gap.

Kate has no one to follow really and I don't think is the type of person that wants to be a trailblazer fo fashion that's fair enough. That's why o do personally prefer Meghans style as I think it is more modern and with her I think things would have come up to date more. But that's not what's going to happen.

Right now I'm off to google for my own game 😂

Frownette · 06/03/2020 15:27

Meghan looked very pretty in white at the National Theatre

unluckyagain · 06/03/2020 15:33

I thought she looked amazing last night but am not at all keen on the white outfit. Perhaps the skirt and top would look nice separately, but not together.

allibaby · 06/03/2020 15:36

@SenecaFallsRedux
Except posters are being hypocrites and nasty.
The lack of self awareness on this matter is astounding.

Lunde · 06/03/2020 15:37

@Horsemad - I think you mentioned MM's short waistedness & said you are the same? Can I ask, what style dresses do you wear because I am currently dress shopping for a wedding invite and cannot find anything that looks reasonably good on me - I have come to the conclusion I too am short waisted, or even NON waisted, sob...

I was one of the posters that said I was short waisted like M. I think you need to avoid dresses where there is a definite waist that sits in the wrong place and causes fabric bunching like M suffered yesterday.

The styles that I find most flattering are fairly straight styles like shift or slip dresses. Also gently flared (skater) styles that gentle flare out giving the illusion of a waist. I also find that drop waists or 1920s styles can look good as well.

itswinetime · 06/03/2020 15:44

Right here are some of my favourite Kate and Meghan looks
Special mention to Kate's Pakistan tour wardrobe it was brilliant and Meghans end of pregnancy 60s inspired phase it took a while but she really found her grove with those outfits.

AudacityOfHope · 06/03/2020 15:48

That red berry leather skirt and jumper are my fave outfit on Meghan.

I could literally never leave the house like that but she looks fabulous. Just un-perfect enough!

TheNavigator · 06/03/2020 15:53

I know what you mean AudacityOfHope about being just imperfect enough, it is like the famous Herrick poem:

A sweet disorder in the dress
Kindles in clothes a wantonness;
A lawn about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction;
An erring lace, which here and there
Enthrals the crimson stomacher;
A cuff neglectful, and thereby
Ribands to flow confusedly;
A winning wave, deserving note,
In the tempestuous petticoat;
A careless shoe-string, in whose tie
I see a wild civility:
Do more bewitch me, than when art
Is too precise in every part.

thisenglishlife · 06/03/2020 15:56

Except posters are being hypocrites and nasty. The lack of self awareness on this matter is astounding.

There has been constructive criticism and positive comments about all the royals. The more 'negative' comments are about others like Meghan, Maxima and Rania than Kate. If you had read this thread over the last few years, you would have seen that.

Kate has been seen a lot this year due to Early Years and Ireland and so the thread has mainly been focused on her. This latest thread has newer contributers making the less positive comments, the regular posters have only joked about things. They are not negative towards Kate. We have liked lots of her outfits, accessories, hairstyles and qualities. We often say that she is an asset, engaged, smiley, whatever. None of the regular posters have been nasty towards Kate!!

AdaColeman · 06/03/2020 16:02

I'm a huge Mathilde fan, but the fabric of that pink Erdem dress would have been better used as a duvet cover.

Spudlet · 06/03/2020 16:04

What is it with Erdem? They just seem to swamp everyone who wears them! Do they just photograph really poorly or something, because surely there must be a reason people keep wearing them...?

thisenglishlife · 06/03/2020 16:07

Outfit looks better in this shot, love the skirt. I'd like the blouse for myself in full sleeves.

DOC's white Pakistan looks (the shalwar/trouser style and fit is 👌).
