Large single stone ring?

It's our 10th wedding anniversary in a few months and I've got a hankering after a statement coloured single stone ring. Something for my right hand. (Wedding and engagement rings are quite simple)

Popped into friendly local jeweller. He had nothing in but said he can get anything I want. He asked for pictures etc. That's a bit of a blank canvas for my poor imagination.

I'm not sure I can carry off a ring the size or Kirsty Allsopp's. But I was thinking of something heading in that size direction. And I can bet my budget doesn't match hers!

Definitely want yellow gold. A very simple setting and a warm toned colour.

What are folks opinions on rings like this and does anyone have any pics for me?

No help but lurking in case anyone can find a dupe for Kirsty’s ring which I have always coveted

If I was looking for warm toned , I'd go for amber ( oval cabochon not faceted ) but I like amber in silver , not gold .

I do have a corker of a cocktail ring though - QVC Diamonique 'Tanzanite' (simulated) .
Central stone is about 12x10mm .with a clear stone either side .

It's not something I wear often though, I might injury something

70isa are you familiar with "having your colours done"? I'm an "autumn". So warmed toned yellows, greens, etc. But I particularly suit the warm blue tones, teal, marine navy etc. So looking at colours like these. Off to google your amber suggestion....

I've read on S&B about having my colours done but I'm scared they'll tell me I should be wearing turquoise (not a colour I like)

I did a quickie online one , it suggested Chartreuse, Teal, and dusty pink . (Not all together thankfully)

I am blissfully unaware of my colours and sometimes try and go outside my comfort zone .
Orange was a 'yes'
Pale blue 'No'

I love amber because there's a tiny chance you could have a fragment of something prehistoric in there

I have a blue topaz irregular shaped stone with yellow gold. The stone is 100ct - it is massive, but makes me so happy when I wear it. Def not for running errands in though!

I found having my colours done a massive help 70. Shopping is sooo much easier and quicker and I have heaps more confidence. Appreciate that not everyone needs the leg up like I did though

I’ve got an amethyst cocktail ring somewhere that I love and last year I bought a lovely fake from M&S.

Look at ANOLI joaillerie. Nice cabochon rings in a choice of sterling silver, yellow or rose gold.

I’ve two rings with larger stones. If I remember I’ll post later. One is rose gold with a large amethyst. The other is blue topaz surrounded by diamonds.
