Large single stone ring?

It's our 10th wedding anniversary in a few months and I've got a hankering after a statement coloured single stone ring. Something for my right hand. (Wedding and engagement rings are quite simple)

Popped into friendly local jeweller. He had nothing in but said he can get anything I want. He asked for pictures etc. That's a bit of a blank canvas for my poor imagination.

I'm not sure I can carry off a ring the size or Kirsty Allsopp's. But I was thinking of something heading in that size direction. And I can bet my budget doesn't match hers!

Definitely want yellow gold. A very simple setting and a warm toned colour.

What are folks opinions on rings like this and does anyone have any pics for me? Smile

I love the large Sahran Sky ring on silver.uk.com - obviously it's silver (could be gold plated) but it's also just costume jewellery, currently in the sale and cheap as chips, so you could get it as a test ring, just to test your theory that you want a large single stone on your finger.

Op, I love jewellry & am also an autumn.

Do check eBay & auctions near you - you can get great bargains second hand. My 2nd engagement ring was from an auction, (my original one is a tanzanite too big for everyday wear & in platinum from before colours being done)

I have a large smoky topaz that was inexpensive & am lusting after a large green tourmaline, probably with small diamonds around though as I think it sets the stone off better. Also love citrine & garnet. Probably others I can't think of right now.

I have seen a site with some beautiful semi precious stones , will have a look when on laptop

However have a look at Blue John

I love looking at big cocktail rings! My fingers are swollen and it is very depressing if they only go up to say O. My little fingers are M and N size , the next fingers on each hand is T and V, then X. I think the thumbs are both Y but I don't normally wear thumb rings. I have been looking on QVC but most look 'wedding-y. There is a lovely garnet looking on but too expensive for me.

I don't care if they are semi precious stones. I used to buy XL rings in Evans but sadly they don't do XL now.

Deathraystare · 02/03/2020 17:14

I mean if they are not semi precious!

I’ve been lusting after this in a shop near me:

Love the ring photo's. My faves are the morganite one, the citrine rectangular one and the pretty mystic topaz one. I'm seriously craving something pretty now!
As an aside, please may I ask those in the know how you pronounce (Monica) Vinader? I thought it was Vinader as in larder, but I heard a lady pronounce it as in vinegar.

I want to replace my rings too so lurking with interest. I've got my nan's rings but I'm not a fan of solid 24 carat yellow gold. I'm more of a platinum girl.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 05/03/2020 00:03

I’ve just ordered two rings, neither are single stone as they have a halo of diamonds but Ernest Jones might be worth a look!
