This dress is described as grey but I think it’s quite an unusual grey but not sure how to describe it!!

Anyone good with describing colour?

It's say it was a pebble grey! If that's a thing?

MarshaBradyo · 27/02/2020 19:43

Dove grey?

worldsworststepfordwife · 27/02/2020 19:46

It’s not daughters prom till next year but she mentioned it today laughing that she couldn’t think of a colour she would suit as she’s very pale skinned with light ash brown hair, so I thought I’d have a look on ASOS for colours not too pale or too dark, and saw this thought that could possibly work

I think I'd call that cadet grey!

Lamplighter234 · 27/02/2020 19:54

I’d say dove grey too.

Beetle76 · 27/02/2020 20:01

Eucalyptus? I think it’s got a green/blue tinge to the grey.

MoltonSilver · 27/02/2020 20:40

I think eucalyptus is a pretty good description

LeavingTheTable · 27/02/2020 20:42

Charge your phone grey. Wink

frugalkitty · 27/02/2020 21:08

Pigeon grey....dove grey is lighter and softer. I appreciate that pigeon isn't quite as glamorous though Grin

BacklashStarts · 27/02/2020 21:08

Gun metal grey?

Doobigetta · 27/02/2020 21:09

I’d call it dove grey as well.

homemadecommunistrussia · 27/02/2020 21:11

Sea spray Grin

Ninkanink · 27/02/2020 21:13

Dove grey.

She needs to look at her skin undertone. Warm, cool or neutral. That’s all she needs to know in order to pick colours that suit.

firesong · 27/02/2020 21:44

Your daughter would likely look good in lots of pastel / baby tones if she has pale skin

LMW1990 · 27/02/2020 22:08

Another vote for dove grey here

Letthemysterybe · 27/02/2020 23:02

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2020 23:05

Eucalyptus is a good description.

It's not dove grey, there's too much green in it. Dove grey is a pale grey.

Barracker · 27/02/2020 23:57

Dove grey is much lighter, I think. I liked Nutkin's pebble grey offering!

Ladybirdbookworm · 28/02/2020 02:22

French grey .....ooh la la
Actually Laura Ashley French grey paint is exactly this colour

StellaRockafella · 28/02/2020 06:53

That's a yellow-based mid-grey.

StellaRockafella · 28/02/2020 06:57

PS. Colours usually have a yellow or blue tone, same as skin tone, so it all really depends on if your daughter has a cool or warm colouring as to whether it will suit her. However, it's strapless, so this affords a little more leeway.

Ninkanink · 28/02/2020 08:50

This is what’s so very frustrating about colours on computer screens. It doesn’t look like a warm grey to me at all.

Your best bet is to order the dress and see what it actually looks like against her skin.

worldsworststepfordwife · 28/02/2020 10:08

Thanks everyone I think when the time comes we’re going to try some in the mauve grey blue spectrum and see how we get on
