I'm looking at a foundation - not expensive and I'd like a flawless finish. Thanks in advance!

Phoera on Amazon. It's about 4 quid and is better than any other I have ever used including Estee Lauder Double Wear and MAC studio fix

What finish & coverage are you looking for and what is your skin type

lovelyjubbly40 · 27/02/2020 09:25

Phoera! Thanks I'll take a look :-)

What kind of coverage would suit an almost 40 year old, I have a few fine lines under eyes, quite sensitive, fair skin.

I’ve got loads of very expensive foundations but find Rimmel 25 hour is just as good if not better than most of them and lasts all day. Supposed to be full coverage but looks very natural and not heavy on the skin.

PETRONELLAS · 27/02/2020 09:30

Loreal True Match is nice - good mid-coverage, decent range of shades (for white skin). I also like Revlon Colour Stay which was recommended on here. Both are easy to apply, not drying.

Thanks so much!!

I'm late thirties with very sensitive combination skin. I'm currently using Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse and have had compliments on my 'lovely' skin. My natural skin is far from lovely so it must be doing something right!
I tried this foundation in my early 20's and hated it but it seems to suit me now. It also doesn't make my eyes puffy which I'm finding with a lot of brands now.
The Rimmel long lasting one recommended up thread is also quite good but I find it a bit greasy since they changed the formula.

L’Oréal true match
Any of the maybelline ones depending on your requirements
The ordinary coverage

Furrybootsyecomfy · 27/02/2020 09:46

I really like my Primark foundation that I bought for £5. Can’t remember it’s name but it comes in a chunky glass bottle and is supposedly a dupe for EL Doublewear.

soloula · 27/02/2020 09:46

L'oreal true match is fab. I like primark's £5 double wear dupe. Think it's called double cover.

zgaze · 27/02/2020 09:47

Another vote for Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse - it’s been around for so long it’s probably fashionably retro now. For the price it’s fab. I also really rate the Ordinary foundations.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 27/02/2020 09:48

The Primark one in a glass bottle. Best foundation I've ever found.

MikeUniformMike · 27/02/2020 09:59

I'm a fair bit older than 40 and use the previously mentioned Rimmel one. The Primark one is only OK - I won't buy it again.

lovelyjubbly40 · 27/02/2020 10:00

Can anyone take a photo of primark one to see what I'm looking for please? X

Superdrug own brand- Revolution. It's very nice. I've switched from Mac to this for everyday use.

I get it now. I'm too old for it. Sad

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 27/02/2020 10:23

I use the Rommel 25 one too. It's really cheap on Amazon and they do it on Subscribe and save too.

MikeUniformMike · 27/02/2020 10:47

The link shows the bottle @lovelyjubbly40.
Thinking about it, it does last well and doesn't transfer, and does have good coverage.
I haven't tried EL DW although their concealer is excellent.
I bought Primark concealer but I've not tried it yet.

TeddyIsaHe · 27/02/2020 10:51

Yes to the Primark one. Really, really good and so cheap.

If you want a slightly softer/dewy look then Boot No7 Hydraluminous foundation is amazing.

Littleshortcake · 27/02/2020 10:57

Can I add a little tip.. the sponge you use to blend your make up- spritz with a setting spray and it helps the finish and keeps it put all day.

lovelyjubbly40 · 27/02/2020 12:22

Little shortcake - thank you!! I never use a sponge!!

Do people rate the Revlon one? I'm debating trying it; found Maybelline OK in the past but want to try a different one. Tempted by the Primark one but it is it crazy thick? What are the shades like; I'm pretty pale/pinky and I find it really hard to find a foundation that doesn't look weird.

biscuitbrown · 27/02/2020 12:38

The Ordinary is very good and such a good price, but you must wear primer with it as it can sit in pores and fine lines otherwise.
