What can I wear with this dress?

DH's son is getting married this summer and, although it's a bit early, I've bought this dress Wallis (the pink version) as I saw it on the website and loved it.

I don't usually wear dresses (or get dressed up!) if I can help it so please help me with what to wear with it! I've got a dodgy ankle so can't wear heels for too long so I was thinking of wedges? What sort of jacket or cardigan?

I'm 5'7" and a 16-18 if that makes any difference.

Sorry for the questions but I have absolutely no idea as you can probably tell! It's at a 5 star hotel and I know I'm going to feel out of place but I'd like to look half decent whilst feeling out of place!

Ha fantastic! Keep both dresses though! It’s always good to have a dark dress and a light dress for occasions... Wink

Rose gold jewellery... what budget are you looking at?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/03/2020 19:04

I was worried the navy dress would be too dark for a summer wedding but the polka dots break it up and I think the sandals and bag look ok - doubting myself a bit now! It's also more casual than I was expecting - afternoon tea followed by a bbq.

I haven't really thought about a budget to be honest. I've already got a rose gold and stainless steel watch so I'm probably looking for a necklace and earrings. Nothing too blingy though!

Can I just say I love the Style and Beauty board! I've had really good advice, thank you!

The bag and shoes will be lovely with that dress.

A white shrug or jacket I think, to tie in with polka dots (and lighten the outfit for summer).

I like jewellery from Monica Vinader for summer. I think they have a discount on atm.

I also have some lovely pieces from Jigsaw (only costume jewellery but very pretty, nonetheless).

Or you could get the daisy earrings from Georg Jensen - a Danish Classic. They will be yellow or white gold, though (which would still work well).

I've got a jacket and shrug coming tomorrow - Wallis again as their clothes usually fit me quite well.

I'll have a look at the jewellery, thank you. White gold wouldn't be a problem as my rings are platinum and my favourite necklace (which I'll probably end up wearing even if I buy something new!) is also white gold.

I am really enjoying the vicarious thrill of shopping with you! Smile

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 07/03/2020 17:55

Ok, it’s back to the pink dress! I tried the navy one again today and suddenly realised that, as it’s quite a deep plunge neckline and a wrap dress, and wrong movement could mean giving everyone an eyeful! I don’t want my bra on display for posterity in wedding photos!

The final combination is pink dress, white shrug, rose gold sandals and Dune bag. I’ll report back on jewellery shopping progress!

👍👍👍

I hope you’re keeping the navy dress, though - you can always wear it with a white cami underneath.

(For another time, I mean - everyone should have a navy polka dot dress in their wardrobe and you have found one that suits you perfectly. Obviously I entirely agree with you that you should avoid having boobs out in weddings pics! Grin )

Oh yes, it’s staying! We’re going away for the weekend in a couple of weeks so I’ll probably take it with me then and wear it when we go out for w meal

Perfect! If you love scarves (I do), then you could always wear a little silk scarf tied around your neck to help guard against showing too much.

Sigh, I’m so in the mood to shop right now!
