Trousers for a long haul flight

I’m travelling to Florida in August and I’m trying to find the perfect trousers to travel in. Last year I wore some really comfy yoga pants from M&S but the knees really stretched and they looked awful after 10 hours. I’d really like a comfy stretchy pair with an elastic or stretchy waistband so I’m totally comfortable, anyone managed to find the ideal pair and can recommend?

I've worn leggings before on a flight & found them comfy.

violetbunny · 23/02/2020 18:22

The Lululemon On the Fly trousers are great! Elastic waistband, don't crease easily, have some stretch to them and can easily be worn in warmer climates with some summer shoes. I even wear them for business travel.

Also they come in different versions (eg different fabrics, lengths etc) so have a look at their website for all the different options Smile

Thanks violetbunny, those look great, just a couple of questions. Are they very stretchy, no baggy knees? How thick is the material?

I always fly in Hush Harems.

violetbunny · 23/02/2020 18:33

The ones I have are a woven material with a bit of stretch. Hard to describe but they are a firmer material than say, sweat pants. I'm a size 8 and don't personally find them baggy, the pair I have is charcoal grey and they're tailored enough to wear to work (although business casual is fine where I work).

AnyFucker · 23/02/2020 18:36

Hush harems

Best things ever for travelling in

TiredyMcTired · 23/02/2020 18:44

I'll also have another look at the Hush ones, I'd not really considered those before as they looked a bit like the yoga pants I had last year that did the horrible knee bag thing Smile

AnyFucker · 23/02/2020 18:45

They don't bag and have the most comfortable waistband ever

Thedot90 · 23/02/2020 19:02

I second on the fly! They are amazing, and not as sloppy looking as leggings.

Everley · 23/02/2020 19:11

Another vote for the Hush harem trousers here.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 23/02/2020 19:25

Hush harems bag on the knee for me too, they are very old though or maybe I just have pointy knees. I also fly in leggings.

cheeseomelette · 23/02/2020 20:10

I have a gap version of the hush ones.

I also have a gorgeously soft white company linen mix version which I'm thinking I'll wear on the long haul we're going on.

AnnDaloozier · 23/02/2020 21:19

Oh mate. It’s not that far. I just wore jeans and or shorts

AnnDaloozier · 23/02/2020 21:19

Plus harem. No. Awful style

TiredyMcTired · 23/02/2020 22:48

AnnDaliozier, jeans would be so uncomfortable on a long journey/flight, so I wanted to avoid them, which lead to my request for recommendations

Whatever you wear, it’ll be incredibly hot when you arrive and you’ll sweat like buggery in Hush harems

Daffodil101 · 23/02/2020 22:56

(I usually fly in white stuff dolce pants)

bohemia14 · 23/02/2020 22:57

Me and Em palazzo pants. Not cheap but great quality and very comfortable.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 24/02/2020 00:01

Saint and Sophia runway or pimlico pants.

Thinkle · 24/02/2020 06:23

I’d say Hush but Amie joggers not harems (I have both). I’ve never flown in them but I certainly have very sedentary days when I wear them and I’ve never noticed them bag at the knees. I also think they are more stylish that the harems

Ylvamoon · 24/02/2020 06:27

I just wear leggings.

MoltonSilver · 24/02/2020 06:48

I like the look of the hush harems on the model but, when I tried them on the John Lewis, the fabric was surprisingly thin and I looked like MC hammer Hmm. They're really not for everyone.

TiredyMcTired · 24/02/2020 07:28

Daffodil101 I really like the look of the white stuff pants, and the charcoal colour would go great with a white t shirt, and white trainers. We’ve been to Florida a few times, and you’re right about boiling when you get off the plane! We usually stick shorts and a clean t shirt in our cabin bags so we can change before we get off the plane (or in the airport).

Bohemia14 The me+em palazzo are lovely, I love that roll top waist it looks so comfortable. I had always thought that brand was a little out of my price range but I’d be happy to pay £59 for the perfect trousers Smile

Twinkle I agree that the joggers look more sleek than the harems, I am a size 12-14 and I thought the harems might make me look a bit chunky... plus I think I would wear the joggers again more than I would the harems.

LilyJade and Ylvamoon what do you wear with the leggings? A long cotton t-shirt? I don’t normally wear leggings

I can go to our local John Lewis and White Stuff to have a look at some of the recommendations and I might order the Hush Amie’s and On the Fly online.

Sometimes I have to travel to Singapore for work. I always travel in a TShirt dress. I know the OP has asked about trousers, but for me, something without a clinging waist is far more comfy.
