Trousers for a long haul flight

I’m travelling to Florida in August and I’m trying to find the perfect trousers to travel in. Last year I wore some really comfy yoga pants from M&S but the knees really stretched and they looked awful after 10 hours. I’d really like a comfy stretchy pair with an elastic or stretchy waistband so I’m totally comfortable, anyone managed to find the ideal pair and can recommend?

Me and Em Palazzo pants here too.
They are worth every penny. I've had mine since MN started name-dropping the brand, and for once I'm happy they did.
Even though they're jersey, you have that ta-da moment realising there's jersey and then there's quality jersey.
I never agree with Ann Wink but I'm with her on the harems I'm afraid.

@StarlightLady, I had not even thought about wearing a dress! That would be cooler when I get off the plane too. Do you have any particular favourite brands/dresses to recommend?

The Me and Em palazzo pants are a bargainous £17 on the website today

Rosere · 24/02/2020 12:43

@violetbunny I love these lululemons.. What kind of shoe do you wear with these to work?? Do you need to wear a heel or do they work with pumps?
OP, another vote no for harems... Vile

I love a maxi dress for flying (and if you're cold wear leggings underneath) Dorothy Perkins do great long dresses with side splits every year. So comfy and so cool when you get off the plane.

StarlightLady · 24/02/2020 13:20

@TiredyMcTired - To think l nearly didn’t reply because you were not asking about dresses and l don’t fly in trousers.

I have 3 that l call my “flying dresses” (Mary Poppins springs to mindGrin). One is from House of Fraser, one Next and one M&S. My criteria is loose, no boobs in (someone else’s) face if braless overnight, washable and an irregular pattern, preventing the preverbal blob from airline food being obvious. More comfy than trousers or a skirt in flight.

Pinkarsedfly · 24/02/2020 13:23

Do you have a link, AnyFucker ?

WeeMadArthur · 24/02/2020 13:30

What are the Hush harems like if you have a 31 inch inside leg? I had a look at the long ones here and the inside leg measurement is less than 27 inches ( which can’t be right surely).

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 24/02/2020 14:16

I can only see the Me & Em Palazzo pants at their usual £59.

AnyFucker · 24/02/2020 15:14

look here

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 24/02/2020 15:21

Wide leg trousers, bold colour with a T-shirt and cardi for when it gets cold

TiredyMcTired · 24/02/2020 15:43

@AnyFucker Unfortunately no sizes left for the palazzo pants... I’m going to keep an eye on the me+em site though in case more pop upSmile

Some great ideas here. FWIW I fly long haul once a year or so and usually just wear stretchy skinny jeans. I’ve done it in a denim mini and tights, removing tights at the other end if it’s hot, and that works fine too. But IME nothing stops the bloat and swollen ankles other than a run at the other end. Every time when approaching landing I poke my legs and think I’ve got away with it and then Hmm

dudsville · 24/02/2020 21:43

I recently bought the dungarees that were mentioned on here a couple of weeks back. I forget the brand, Lucy and Elk? Something like that. They are so comfortable that they will be my go to for long haul flyer now on!

SlothRunner · 24/02/2020 21:57

Lucy and Yak “Alexa“ trousers

feesh · 25/02/2020 09:08

Dungarees in an aeroplane toilet? It’s a nope from me!

I fly a lot and usually wear Me+Em palazzo pants too!

whitesoxx · 25/02/2020 09:28

Crikey. Certainly comfort over style here. Honestly all three of the favourites here make me feel a bit sick to look at 🤢

Don't forget flight socks OP. Only bit of clothing you should be overly concerned about

TiredyMcTired · 25/02/2020 11:10

@whitesoxx Grin I have flight socks, which is one reason I needed some decent trousers/joggers to cover them up, they aren’t the most stylish of things!

Mint Velvet leggings which come with an integral skirt.

Thank me later.

Befirmbekind · 08/03/2020 18:17

I fly wearing next harem joggers, black comfy, wash and wear, only £20 :) You can always sling on a denim jacket and sneakers to look casual or a blazer and strappy heels to look smart !!

Dizzybet74 · 08/03/2020 19:39

Leggings /skirt or dress combo when arriving or leaving a hot place as you can just whip off the leggings. Also pack a pair of flip flops in hand luggage to free those feet from flight socks on arrival!

TiredyMcTired · 09/03/2020 07:44

@PotteryLottery do you have a link? I’ve just looked up leggings in the Mint Velvet site but can’t find what you’ve described.
I’m liking the idea of a dress and leggings, means I’m comfy on the flight and don’t have to faff changing into shorts on the plane before we land 😃.

To be honest it doesn't matter what you wear its going to be bloody uncomfortable . After many years of flying long haul ,after our last flight in January I vowed I would never do another long haul flight ,and this was back from Florida so not the longest of flights
I am sure its not just because I am getting older ,economy is so very cramped ,premium economy is I swear what economy used to be ....and I am very reluctant to pay the prices for business etc

PotteryLottery · 09/03/2020 17:18

www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-skirted-leggings-black/p1877424

No longer available in JL but Google "skirted leggings" for an alternative brand.

smileannie · 09/03/2020 18:53

It is quite a long flight and I think it’s inevitable that whatever you wear won’t look as good when you arrive as at the airport here.
I’ve sometimes changed into leggings on the plane and changed again just before landing if I want to make sure I don’t look too crumpled on arrival.
