M&S jeans-tell me about them please!

Morning all!
I always struggle to find jeans that fit properly. I’m in river island molly joggings at the minute that fit really well. I went in last week to get some more of the same but different colour but they gaped on the back, I was so frustrated! Top shop also gape on the back.
I was looking at the m&s site last night and can’t believe how well priced they are. Question is, are they any good? Do they wash ok? I hate jeans that go baggy after half hour of wearing them.
Thanks all!

Oh I’m so disappointed with them! Tried the jeggings which were baggy round the waist. And the ivy which I liked the look off are big, sized down and they’re baggy on the knee and calf.
Back to square one trying to find jeans. Thanks all for your help though!

I always go to M&S for jeans first. If there's nothing to suit me, i go to Next next.

In fact, I bought 2 pairs from M&S yesterday. The magic high waisted skinnies in black, and the ivy in dark grey.

They don't last me forever, and the reason I had to go yesterday is that my others have fallen apart. I get the wearing at the thigh bit, and also the belt loops eventually pull away from the jeans, leaving a little hole. I wear jeans every day and put them through the wringer. They last about a year, I reckon, of heavy wearing. For £20, I think it's still worth it.

I used to buy Uniqlo but last autumn I bought the Lily slim in one colour and went back for two more - they are my absolute staple now. So flattering and true to size for me (12) and have washed and worn very well.

Blingismything · 15/02/2020 11:05

I swear by their Ivy jeans. Fit my apple shape perfectly.

morrisseysquif · 15/02/2020 14:16

I only wear M&S jeans but I do find the sizing varies so you have to try them on.

motherofgod2 · 15/02/2020 17:41

I have the Ivy skinny ones. Love them. I think they're just as good quality as topshop but half the price. Going to try the Lily slim next for summer. I also have the jeggings which are good for winter and the relaxed slim ones which are more like a boyfriend style. The Ivys and jeggings are true to size but I'd say size down with the relaxed slim.

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2020 20:39

They have many different styles so be prepared to try several pairs.
Quality is fine esp. jeggings.
Price is good.
The sizing is generous, so try the next size down if in doubt.

M&S has nice things in at the moment.

Toria70 · 15/02/2020 20:43

I used to get all of my jeggings from there but got fed up with the horrendous shrinkage. I was buying the longest leg ones and still ended up with ankle grazers.

KiteflyingKat · 15/02/2020 20:44

Make sure you check the rear view - I tried some M&S jeans recently they looked amazing from the front, perfect fit, comfy, soft etc etc .... Turned around and my goodness they made my bum look huge - the pockets seemed smaller the usual and the positioning was off - literally looked awful.
I was gutted!

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2020 21:13

Take a small mirror with you when you try them on.

Ginfordinner · 15/02/2020 22:21

M and S changing rooms have more than one mirror, so you can see the back view.

Mamia15 · 16/02/2020 07:21

I have their relaxed slim (similar to boyfriend style) - in mid wash and white (I got the short version to wear in summer). Love these and the prices!

Their skinnies don't fit me well though.

Karmatime · 16/02/2020 12:51

I think a few of the styles look great but I have never found any of them in my size in store or online. I’m a size 8 or 10 so hardly unusual.

MikeUniformMike · 16/02/2020 13:23

@Karmatime, try the 6 if you are an 8. I'm normally an 8 but the 6 boyfriend jeans are roomy on me.

bluebellation · 16/02/2020 19:38

Jeans are the only things I buy from M&S now. They tend to suit my shape (small waist, big bum). I've just bought a pair of Sienna and I'm pleased with them so far though I should wash them, as the dye is rubbing off.

Goodebe · 16/02/2020 20:18

If you like the fit of the M&S high waisted super skinnies, around £20, try TU high waisted skinny jeans in longer length - £12 when they have a 25% off sale event (now) and practically identical only I find the TU ones each slightly better! The M&S indigo material is cheaper feeling than then TU and black jeans are much nicer fabric from Sainsbury’s.

LuluJakey1 · 16/02/2020 20:21

I looked at them the other day in a smaller branch if M and S. Every pair I looked at was very stretchy fabric. I hate stretch jeans. Are all of their jeans stretch?

MadisonAvenue · 16/02/2020 20:23

I love their Ivy skinnies, I'd go as far as to say that they're the best fitting jeans I've every owned.

Thesunrising · 16/02/2020 20:27

I’ve found that you get what you pay for in M&S. have bought £20 jeans and wished I hadn’t wasted my money. Badly cut and baggy after a couple of wears. But their skinny jeans that cost £40 have been a good investment and lasted a good few years before fraying.

IndieTara · 16/02/2020 21:10

I bought the Lily slim fit jeans last week in black. They're more charcoal grey but they do fit well and are the Long version.
They do go baggy quickly though

myidentitymycrisis · 17/02/2020 07:28

I find they don’t fit my shape. I am a size 10 with a flat stomach (not boasting ) but m&s jeans seem to have a kind of pouch at the front for a bit of a stomach even in smaller sizes.

EmGee · 17/02/2020 08:31

I wear the Ivy skinnies in size 8, regular length. Great value for 19.50

I has success with Tu skinnies before but they changed the material and they're rubbish now.

The M&S ones keep their shape but the indigo fades quite quickly so I'm going to get another pair and keep 'for smart'.

The only issue I have with M&S is the sizing. It's never consistent so I only buy after trying on in the shop.

Sooverthemill · 17/02/2020 09:54

I have ordered some Mom jeans from M&S ( I don't really know what they are tbh) which arrive tomorrow so will report back

motherofgod2 · 17/02/2020 10:05

Sooverthemill please do. I've been eyeing them up myself

SparkyBlue · 17/02/2020 10:13

I absolutely love their jeggings. I am only
4"11 and I can actually buy extra short and not have to take them up.
