Anything you have found a waste of money and wish you didn’t purchase, I’ll start Kevin A contour pallet! Looks grey on my face

Pixi glow tonic.

All micellular waters.

Both might as well have been actual water.

zeddybrek · 14/02/2020 00:43

Creme de la mer. Did absolutely nothing for me and so gutted. Saved up for it for ages as well just to make it more annoying.

GlamGiraffe · 14/02/2020 00:45

I have given up on all fancy skin products. I buy a tretinoin (retinol cream) from the pharmacy in Spain. It is a simple cream, no funky stuff, just a light cream with the active product, ridiculously cheap and ultra effective. I think a lot of cosmetic products are available in just their active components abroad so I go for those. Way less funky stuff to go wrong and give weird texture and perfumes. I'm finding the trentinoin very good. It's called retrides if anyone is intetested

bringincrazyback · 14/02/2020 00:45

Slightly regret the phase I went through of buying Anastasia palettes, the colours are stunning in the palette and swatch beautifully, I keep meaning to wear them more but I don't actually reach for them much as they're so fall-out-y and creating a look with some of the colours is so tricky without them mudding out if you blend too much.

Also Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser. As far as I can tell, the only thing that's dramatically different is the price.

bringincrazyback · 14/02/2020 00:48

I've started using Astral cream again and it really is the most moisturizing formula.

It also seems to produce a slight glow that's not dissimilar to Charlotte Tilbury magic cream, I've heard it called a dupe which I think is going a bit far, but the glow is definitely similar.

managedmis · 14/02/2020 00:58

Aveda is overpriced, Alberto Balsam works just as well

Any eyeliner / eye shadow - just falls under my eyes

Decleor stuff is just too expensive and not that good

Nivea blue tub is as good

managedmis · 14/02/2020 00:58

Re. The astral glow, I agree

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 14/02/2020 01:13

Clarisonic
My skin has always been clear but After one week use I got big painful lumps under my skin. It took nearly 5 months for my Skin n to go back to normal

Chanel lipsticks

Anything Lancôme - too over fragranced Anything by terry - the smell is nauseating
Eve Lom - just a big pot of mineral oil

Any high end mascara- so much better at high st point

I could go on

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 14/02/2020 01:15

Glam giraffe
Does it come in different strengths

TheWashingMachine · 14/02/2020 04:48

Nars Sheer Glow, even my eight year old said I looked old, it highlighted every wrinkle.

Most primers just bring me out in spots.

Any mineral makeup is disastrous on me.

BTW did you know you can return stuff you've tried for a few days to Space NK. I only realised this recently when I saw it on the receipt.

I love clarins beauty flash balm though.

Downunderduchess · 14/02/2020 05:25

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick, looked nothing like I thought it would, I live in Australia so paid heaps for postage. Gave it away. Not a universally flattering colour at all.

Buggedandconfused · 14/02/2020 06:46

Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks - great colours but really drying and make my lips sore.

Sexnotgender · 14/02/2020 06:57

Also Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser. As far as I can tell, the only thing that's dramatically different is the price.

I tried it years ago and thought it was rubbish!

MadamShazam · 14/02/2020 07:34

I forgot about Liz Earle. Tried the shampoo and conditioner and my hair ended up like straw and still a bit greasy. And it smells weird.

Shookethtothecore · 14/02/2020 07:46

@BloomedAgain it’s brightening and tightening. It’s a good night sleep in a bottle. It has olive in it for the brightening and rice starch to help tighten the skin, it is kind of like a skin care primer, you wash the results off. You can use it as a mask Aswell if you wanted but I never found that worth it, we also didn’t recommend it for everyday use, only when you needed it. I would use it after a particularly bad night with the kids or an event- that way you get best results.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 14/02/2020 07:50

Agree on Clinique DDML. I think it’s only a moisturiser for those with normal (no issues) skin. Useless for me.

PurpleDaisies · 14/02/2020 07:55

Most primers just bring me out in spots.

Me too. I just use moisturiser so I haven’t got dry patches.

MorrisZapp · 14/02/2020 07:58

Shampoo bemoaners: which shampoos do you prefer? I'm on a never ending quest. Bleached highlights but I find that heavier formulations make my hair fluffy. I want sleek!

oldfashionedtastingtea · 14/02/2020 08:23

What do you do with products that are rubbish? I always feel guilty throwing them away. Do you use them up?

That's what teenage nieces are forGrin. They like receiving anytging and if it doesn't suit them they swap with friends (who receive similarly shite).

oldfashionedtastingtea · 14/02/2020 08:31

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick, looked nothing like I thought it would

I fell for that one too.

NiteFlights · 14/02/2020 08:50

Chanel lipstick - nice but mega perfumed which was not pleasant

Elasticiser - a waste of time

An unpopular opinion - I find REN skincare overpriced and harsh.

Sarcelle · 14/02/2020 09:25

Anything Chanel. That bronzer gel thing makes me look jaundiced.
The nail polishes are not great quality.

When something comes out that is new I don't buy for a good few months. By that time real reviews are posted rather than the ones that rave about it straight away.

Sarcelle · 14/02/2020 09:28

I have fallen for CT hype before too. Pillow Talk looked like my lips on my deathbed rather than my lips but better.

The only CT products I rate is the Love Glow blusher, my daily go to. I also like the Hollywood Filter. Have to use sparingly though otherwise you look like a mannequin.

ChicCroissant · 14/02/2020 09:51

Useless products - moisturisers tend to hang around in the bathroom as I have intentions of using them on my body rather than my face and neck, which are more sensitive and prone to blotchy redness.

However I don't use them up at all, they just take up space until I eventually throw them out

I am even worse with useless shampoo, there is one bottle that we use whenever DD's hair needs washing but also putting up into a bun because it doesn't get the hair properly clean (Head and Shoulders Sensitive).

My teen is (currently) uninterested in skin care and make up, unfortunately, so I can't pass stuff on yet!

RibenaMonsoon · 14/02/2020 10:01

Lee Stafford hair products. They work mediocre at best, a couple of them work okay but I can't get over the smell. It's so overpowering.

Benefit they're real mascara. Flaky and panda eyes. Let's hope they aren't real... I'd want to chop my eyelashes off if they were.
