Anything you have found a waste of money and wish you didn’t purchase, I’ll start Kevin A contour pallet! Looks grey on my face

OP posts:

I didn’t buy CT Pillowtalk but tried it a few weeks ago. It tasted like a really cheap product to me. Kind of waxy. Didn’t stay on. I literally had one bottle of water and it was gone, SO glad I wasn’t tempted to just order it due to the hype.

The Chanel Tan in a big pot made me look like I had liver disease. Actually, to be fair, it looked good in duty free lighting but on a chilly Berlin morning, I needed a ton of pink blush to “bring me round”. It broke my heart to give it away but it was neither use nor ornament to me.

Clinique moisture surge felt watery and odd. Also their mascara gave me rash around my eyes. I liked the mascara so pity I can't wear it.

AlexaAmbidextra · 14/02/2020 10:32

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat. The emporers new clothes. Totally overhyped and overpriced. Aldi concealer at three quid a pop is far better

AlexaAmbidextra · 14/02/2020 10:34

Emperors. Ffs. 🙄

Littleshortcake · 14/02/2020 10:35

Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerise and the check swirl (cannot remember the name)
Far happier with other brands.

BloomedAgain · 14/02/2020 11:07

Thanks @Shookethtothecore I'll give the beauty flash balm a go!

Buggedandconfused · 14/02/2020 12:47

I love Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser - it’s fab for putting over retinol, Vit C or acid serums. But as a stand alone moisturiser I get that it’s a bit lacking for some.

Imonlymoominafterall · 14/02/2020 14:25

Shampoo bemoaners: which shampoos do you prefer? I'm on a never ending quest. Bleached highlights but I find that heavier formulations make my hair fluffy. I want sleek!
The only one that works on my hair is Redken Extreme. It's very very good especially on fine hair.

jalopy · 14/02/2020 14:34

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

Utter s**t

SecretWitch · 14/02/2020 14:37

undead I use Clinique Moisture Surge in the summer when my regular Drunk Elephant stuff is too heavy.

In the High st. side, I love NYX eye liners but they only seem to last for about two weeks.

florriepeck · 14/02/2020 14:38

CT lip liner.
Clarins Double Serum, though I did get my money back from the Clarins counter at Boots (£50-odd), as I had been given a couple of sachets of DS samples when I bought it, so I realised it didn't suit my skin before I opened the full size one.

TurduckenFucken · 14/02/2020 15:06

I've been using Living Proof Perfect Hair Day, which is great, but £££££. I need a recommendation of something cheaper without silicones or sulphates, suitable for coloured hair.

I'm nervous of 'natural' products after the aforementioned Green People Swarfega debacle.

TeaAddict235 · 14/02/2020 15:30

@TurduckenFucken I can't vow for the Green People products but yes, many green, eco, earth hugging products make my hair look like I have run through a bush and been electrocuted on exit. Not a good look for a 4 hair'er.

Give me all the silicones that you've got, the bigger, the longer, the badder, the better! Grin I live in Germany, I pay my eco dues every time I breathe.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/02/2020 15:36

The Curly Girl method and co-washing. Bought loads of products and persevered for a few months. Hair looked like Wurzel Gummidge’s pubes. Fuck that, I’m back to my silicones and straighteners.

PurpleDaisies · 14/02/2020 15:42

You’ve reminded me about the disaster that was co washing. Grease everywhere with no evidence that any washing had happened.

Any complicated skin care routine sets mine off.

LuxuryWoman2020 · 14/02/2020 17:53

No 7 powder, think it’s called ‘airbrush’ or similar. Looked like I’d dusted my face with flour.

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2020 18:11

With the creme de la mare you are meant to let it warm in the palm of your hand before applying. I got a sample once. Wasn't particularly impressed.

greeneyedlulu · 14/02/2020 18:13

Hair straighteners... Not even got them out the box!
Charlotte tilbury eyebrow pencil 3 in 1 thing... I use one part as eye shadow and it's not meant to be.
Face creams galore.... I've now banned myself from buying anymore until I've used these all

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/02/2020 18:31

I don't wear or buy much make-up , but my biggest waste is any lipstick.
I look like a drag queen Hmm

Tinted gloss I can just about get away with

ClientQueen · 14/02/2020 20:17

For using up crap products
Shampoo/shower gel - scrubbing the loo, cleaning the sink and bath
Conditioner - shaving under arms and legs

SpeckledyHen · 15/02/2020 06:09

Jo Malone -fragrance lasts all of 10 seconds
Chanel Waterproof mascara - isn’t .

Greenteandchives · 15/02/2020 08:33

Kiehls Midnight Recovery. I had such high hopes, but there was no difference in my skin and it made my eyes very sore.
In fact, any facial oil seems to make my eyes sting despite the fact that I don’t put it near them.
Aveda, Bumble and Kerastase hair products. Not worth the expense.

KitNCaboodle · 15/02/2020 19:04

Jo Malone fragrances. Smell great for about 10 minutes and then disappear or smell off.
CT foundation just sort of sits on my skin. It’s odd.

I love Hourglass, especially their ambient light palettes and mascara.

winterinmadeira · 15/02/2020 19:17

Clarins Rose radiance cream - awful and claylike and made me look like a ghost. It wasn’t cheap either. My mum took it and uses it but still isn’t fussed on it...

FakeFraudSquad · 15/02/2020 20:07

I spent £350 on a Charlotte Tilbury Makeover. The only item that I liked, an eyebrow pencil, fell apart after three weeks. They replaced it after I complained only for the same thing to happen shortly after. A blusher from CT also fell apart and disintegrated inside making it unusable when I’d only used 1/3rd of it. The foundation and primer did nothing for me, my face looked like an oil slick and needed constant powdering. The face cream samples broke me out. The lip liner, lipstick and eyeshadow was just ok but I’ve had more impressive results from items bought from Boots and Superdrug for less than £15. Utterly disappointing, overpriced and poor quality. Very clever marketing campaign though!

Biore Watery Essence broke me out, as did the Good Skin daily moisturiser - huge boils along my jaw and cheeks which took months to fully heal and that I had to work very hard to avoid scarring with.

I’m not keen on Urban Decay Lipsticks, too dry and powdery. The UD setting spray also isn’t a patch on the MAC prep and prime one.

Wasn’t keen on Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser. Not up to the hype.
