Earrings you can sleep in

DontFundHate · 12/02/2020 21:59

Reading a thread on here a few weeks ago, sleeping in earrings was an idea so that you wake up every day obviously still wearing them, helping you to look put together with zero effort.

What do you all think? And can anyone recommend any? Or any particular styles? I like very plain things, no diamonds etc. Would they have to be a proper metal (silver, gold etc?) so that they don't lose colour in the shower?

Thank you if anyone can help!

Beautiful, plain, thick shank, perfect to sleep in etc etc etc..............

I have to wear small earrings for work. At the moment huggies but I have worn studs but they can be trial or error as some annoy me.

slipperyeel · 20/02/2020 21:59

I wear astley Clark studs mostly, 7 piercings do no time to remove them every night!

georgialondon · 20/02/2020 22:04

I've always sleep in mine

morrisseysquif · 20/02/2020 23:01

@Lucked Really, what job requires you wear earrings?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/02/2020 09:00

Maybe Lucked means she is only allowed small earrings for work?

I've had an earring back embedded in my ear lobe before (and it was 18k gold!) from wearing the same pair for weeks on end at uni. So I think this only works for some people. I would definitely only do it with decent quality earrings and give my ears a good rest every few days. I do hate the stabbing of posts in my neck though, it's usually enough to remind me to take them out!

Lucked · 21/02/2020 19:03

Yes I can’t wear anything dangly, sorry didn’t realise it was a confusing post at the time of posting.

Gherkinbee · 22/02/2020 08:36

I usually have small silver studs in overnight. Never heard of Huggies until this thread, which inspired me to go and purchase these yesterday uk.accessorize.com/view/product/uk_catalog/acc_2.4/8818299100. They are really comfortable and neat- love them!

Boireannachlaidir · 22/02/2020 13:35

There's a reason they're called sleepers, get a pair and try them OP.

DontFundHate · 22/02/2020 14:41

Wow thanks everyone I've never heard of Huggies before and now found a pair I really like on accessorize :)

I never sleep in my earrings because they always dig in my neck 😳 How often do you clean your earrings if you never take them out? Do the butterfly backs not get dust or shampoo in them?

Iriahm · 26/02/2020 17:35

I have labret flat backed earrings in my lobes and helix (top corner of ear). Recently discovered them when had helix pierced at a piercing studio. Revelation! Also got DD age 9’s lones done and no issues with butterflies.

So comfortable to sleep in as flat. Lots of real metals and different designs (plain and jewelled). I have bows in and a star at the moment - rocking being accidentally fashionable according to the younger staff at work Grin

louderthan1 · 26/02/2020 18:19

What's the point of wearing earrings if you don't ever change them?? Where's the fun in that? I've got about 50 pairs, all far too big/dangly/hoopy to sleep in!

womaninatightspot · 26/02/2020 18:23

Like a PP I wear a pair of diamond studs I don't take out. Never notice them tbh.

womaninatightspot · 26/02/2020 18:25

I think the dust/ shampoo gets washed out in the shower, I swim 3 times a week as well. They get a proper clean at the jeweller annually.

DanceItOut · 26/02/2020 18:39

I have quite a few piercings and have never taken mine out to sleep. In fact I haven't changed any of my hoops, studs or bars etc in a few years.

DanceItOut · 26/02/2020 18:44

Also my daughter age 7 has androlok studs and hasn't changed them since last June as they were a new pair she got for her birthday. I do make more of an effort to check her ears for any build up of dirt, dead skin, shampoo etc since her ears were only pierced a year ago so more prone to that sort of thing. But she sleeps in them no problem.

littlemisskt · 26/02/2020 18:47

The only ones I find comfortable to sleep in are hinged sleepers or my new favourite, pull through threader earrings. I find if I don’t sleep in them I forget to wear any at all.

celebrityskin · 26/02/2020 18:58

A small pair of pearl earrings. Classic, classy, goes with everything. I never take them out!

mrsleftie · 26/02/2020 19:05

I've never taken mine out 🤷‍♀️

Silverstreaks · 26/02/2020 19:14

Ditch the butterfly backs and use the little plastic sheath the fashion earrings come with. Much more comfortable and less likely for them to come off.

BlackSwan · 26/02/2020 19:55

Don't be so bloody lazy!

LisaD76 · 26/02/2020 19:57

The only earrings you should sleep in are sleepers.... hence the name. Most other earrings will dent or lose stones and most likely be fairly uncomfortable. Btw screw back earrings unscrew themselves so you can still potentially lose them.... in case you’re wondering I have been working in jewellery for 23 years

LisaD76 · 26/02/2020 19:59

And pearl earrings shouldn’t get wet or get chemicals on as chemicals damage the lustre of the pearl and soap and water will loosen the glue

SpeedofaSloth · 26/02/2020 20:56

I take mine out. If I sleep in them they hurt, and my ear swells, even though I only wear silver and gold.
