A few years ago I bought several of these stretchy, ruched, jersey dresses. I needed to be smart for work and traveled a lot and these were perfect as they are machine washable and could be rolled up in a suitcase and not need ironing.

I wore them with high heels, tights and a black blazer style jacket.

Are they dated now?

Keep or donate to charity shop?

They don’t look right with flat or chunky footwear (on me at least).

I’m 5”7 and size 10 with a (slightly) wobbly post-baby tummy if that matters to your decision!

Thank you Grin

They’re very nice and I’d keep them.

inwood · 11/02/2020 17:16

They're fine, not exciting but fine. Where would you wear them?

somewheresorted · 11/02/2020 17:18

Dated - sorry but I would get rid!

SouthernComforts · 11/02/2020 17:19

Dated, sorry. If the ruched bit was only at the top I think they would be ok but all the way down is a bit 2000's.

KiteflyingKat · 11/02/2020 17:19

@inwood I would wear them to work although I’m part time now so need less outfits

Batshittery · 11/02/2020 17:20

They look dated to me I'm afraid.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/02/2020 17:22

They are dated but tbh, unless you’re trying to impress someone at work I probably wouldn’t care that much and would try and get some more wear out of them

Unless you wear them with a pair of kitten heels and a Radley handbag in which case, go straight to the 2000s style hall of fame

JollyGiraffe12 · 11/02/2020 17:23

Rather dated, maybe just keep your favourite one in case you feel like wearing it one day?

Mixingitall · 11/02/2020 17:29

I would keep the black and navy and donate the other 2.

I always look smart for work, and really don’t care if I look dated. I buy anything from the next sale in a 12L, and would rather spend money on non work clothes :)

Sparkletastic · 11/02/2020 17:33

Can you post a pic of you wearing one?

peanutbuttermarmite · 11/02/2020 17:35

they look good quality, in good condition and smart - I'd keep them as workhorse dresses unless short of wardrobe space, maybe donate to a charity for cheap work clothes for women?

EgremontRusset · 11/02/2020 17:41

They look midi length (?) so maybe try with knee boots underneath. Would they hang oddly with a polo neck under, or a different jacket over the top?

oohnicevase · 11/02/2020 17:42

Can you post a pic with one on? Tricky to tell woth all that material hanging down

hopeishere · 11/02/2020 18:05

It's hard to tell on the hanger.

I had something a bit like this from M&S. I loved that dress.

thedevilinablackdress · 11/02/2020 18:15

They look great for work and I bet they do look fine with flatter footwear, you just need to get used to the difference. I'd have some Chelsea boots maybe, a couple of different cardigans and jewellery to mix and match with them.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/02/2020 18:20

I would keep a couple for work and maybe donate the others. It would help to see one on you, but from the hanger they don’t look particularly dated as such - just style them differently.

Lucked · 11/02/2020 18:28

I would keep whichever colour suits you best and donate the rest.

SinglePringle · 11/02/2020 18:30

I would roll them up and put them in a vacuum bag in the loft (if possible). They’re fairly classic / non high fashion so may come back around.

KiteflyingKat · 11/02/2020 20:11

Problem is I’m a minimalist and hate clutter so putting something in a vacuum bag “just in case” goes against all my beliefs Grin I’d rather someone else benefitted. I think they should go to charity. Let’s face it, if I loved them, why would I post here?

Keep the black one, get rid of the others.

The black one could still be handy, worn with a chunky heel perhaps.

TheWordmeister · 11/02/2020 20:23

They remind me of Joan Collins in Dynasty.

Horribly dated - get rid.

peanutbuttermarmite · 12/02/2020 08:15

Hard to have warm feelings about work gear! In general I’m sure someone will be delighted to find these in a charity shop.

ZaraW · 12/02/2020 09:31

I wouldn't wear them, donate they are really dated.

drina27 · 12/02/2020 11:34
